Can i cut lisinopril in half

Common Questions and Answers about Can i cut lisinopril in half

monopril

My EJ varies from 25% to mid-40s. The coreg makes me so tired I can barely walk a mile. On my own I've cut my dosage at times by half, taking only 25mg at night so I can function the next day. That works for me, but I know my doctor says not to do that. Just wondering if anyone has any additonal insights.
My hypertension disappeared a few months after smoking cessation except for something like 134/93 every few days whereupon I take 5 mg. of Lisinopril (half a little blue tablet) with good result. This fatigue is getting worse. Just bringing groceries into the house from the car is exhausting, and I'm very SOB.
I am trying to keep my BP low with lisinopril and atenenol but the doctors in the hospital also prescribed Crestor. I didn't know about Coenzyme Q10. Now I will ask.
Sent me to a cardiologist, heart looked fine other than a mild leaky valve. Stress test went good I did it for 9 and a Half mins. Doctor Said I was healthy. I was put on Losartan 100/mg -Hctz 25mg shortly after my Bp was over 140/80 a couple visits to the doc. It now runs 135/75 when I check it usually sometimes 127, or 142 just depends I guess. I exercise, I eat pretty healthy, I'm young and I'm really wondering how to deal with this?
I have also other symptoms like when i wake up in the morning, i can taste something sour in my mouth. I think its the stomach acid. I really need help but no docs seem to be able to help me. I have seen more than 3 doctors in the past two weeks.
I've had similar episodes, off and on, for about 20 years. I had one today...which is why I'm on the board. Starts in the shoulders...I can feel it coming on...after a few seconds, heads quickly down one or both arms. Weakness and heaviness - and I liked someone's analogy to having a tight cuff on the arm. It lasts a minute or so. Feels like longer!
Its not painful @ all,i actually feel almost peaceful when it happens but then i start to worry n i get so anxious i can hear my heart beat in my ear(only makes it worse)I AM VERY SCARED AND I FEEL SO ALONE.it feels like somethings about to happen or like i forget something very important, like very nervous or something like a bomb is about to explode.Feels better to know im not alone so maybe im not crazy.WHY IS NO DOCTOR REPLYING!!!!
Thank you for the straight talk. I needed that. I understand what you're saying and I think I'm ready to do that. I'm going to start this evening by taking one by mouth. Well, half of 1. That's 40mg. (They're 80's, the teal blue ones that say OC on one side and 80 on the other) I think that quitting smoking pot was the reason I started snorting these in the first place. The Dr. made me quit getting a buzz, so I just started snorting my meds. I have cut down by half and it wasn't easy at all.
I have also been waking up with racing heart and feeling like I can't breathe. So, yes, I really do think that anxiety can cause that burning feeling in your body.

The only medical reason I can find is conjunctivitis, but I don't feel or have any of the symptoms of this. I am also having a hard time with body heat regulation. It feels like menopause, but not possible or me. Has your problem stopped?
Once this pressure starts there is nothing I can take that will stop the throb every time I get up to walk. I usuall get it in the afternoon and continue for the rest of the day. I am fine the next day. My doctor thinks it can be from tension, anxiety, looking at the computer too long, etc.
I went to the doctor back in October I believe because I felt like I had something stuck in my throat and I had a very minute ammount of blood in my saliva when I spit. Anyway, he told me I have a sinus infection and gave me antibiotics. Now I have always had allergies and plenty of sinus infections and I knew this was no sinus infection. So I take the antibiotics and nothing changes. So I go back to the same doctors office to see a different doctor.
I know this was a long story but since I have not spoken about this and seen the Dr. very rarely in the past 2 years I felt I needed to tell all to the experts on here or people that I consider experts with their vast experience judging from the posts as compared to my limited experience. I’m 5’9 and approx 224 lbs. by the way-and that’s the first thing that is going to go-if I don’t get a heart attack first!
I haven't noticed any fluttering in my throat in the two weeks since I reduced the synthroid. I would appreciate and feedback from people who have had a-fib problems on synthroid, or have been over medicated. I have no idea what to expect long term.
If the EMG equipment sees ongoing signals afterwards, then that can signify neurological issues. I am not a doctor, so keep in mind that I am just interpreting what I have been told. If you want all the specifics, then your neurologist can give you a more detailed or thorough explanation than what I know. However, if memory serves me correctly, that is the purpose of getting an EMG done.
150 and strict vegetarians have 80% less chance of developing heart attack or stroke. In my upcoming book, I describe various "regression diets" which have actually been scientifically proven to cause atheroclerotic plaque to diminish in some patients. I can't emphasize enough that without saturated fat and cholesterol in your diet, you will not develop elevated cholesterol and CVD I think that most people significantly underestimate the amount of fat they eat each day.
The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...? The above mentioned side effects are very bothersome and I don't know if they are from Losartan or...just need time? From your expirience: looking for BP medications with good proven record and less side effects?
I have good days and not so good days but you are not alone and you can do it.... I have for 20 years.I am no cardio just a long time battler in the war on PVC's! keep your chin up.

It's an amazing program, and I want to share what I'm learning with those that desire it. I started DXM in September when I had a terrible upper respiratory infection and took Robitussin, thinking nothing of it. Because I am on fluoxetine (Prozac) for fibromyalgia management, I began TRIPPING BALLS. I had heard of robotripping in college, but I considered it an old wives' tale. WRONG.
I am usually the type of person that says I will beat whatever it is I am facing and go full boar. I just cant seem to get my mental strength back, I worry that I am going to die from this in short order. I want to live again but cant seem to get out of the house. Started Pristique 50mg for depression and it seems to help a little but not enough. I have a high stress job and have not returned to work yet. Worried the stress will cause me to decline further. Again thanks for the help.
For people like me who have prescription coverage, it would be cheaper in the long run to buy 30 days worth of 100 mg pills and cut them in half (if I was told to take 50 mg) because they would last me twice as long for the same price. The trouble comes in with some pills that are enteric coated and not meant to dissolve quickly in the stomach. That can mess up the effectiveness of the medication. I'm back on Diltiazem now and it's a pill that comes in a capsule.
Then last night it happened again, afer two bottles of beer, 6 hours later, just after having sex with my wife. i feel my heart beating heavily and extending into both arms, I can actually feel my pulse in both arms without touching them. It makes me so uncomfortable and scared that i can't sleep. I don't feel any heart pain just my heartbeat vibrating into my arms, and the beat is rather slow and irregular...
My symptoms got much worse, with lightheadedness whenever I got up and nearly constant palpitations. He has now cut that medication in half (20mg to 10). I live in a Third World Country so am concerned about quality of care. My questions are, in general if I should be taken totally off BP meds because my arrhythmia so lowers my BP and if I should be put on some kind of arrhythmia meds. I can't think this much racing heart is doing me any good!
' I'm inclined to think my success is from the meds, and that if I go off, it won't be long before I'm back to square 1. I don't want to be, but why would my primary care suggest I cut back on such low doses? I serously doubt my psych would consider lowering anything at this point, I"m almost afraid to ask.
It is very hard to separate them. I'm hoping maybe there is a pill or two that I can scale down to from the 20+ a day I take. I would even consider a maze procedure if they thought it could work. The longer this goes on, the more tired and deconditioned I get. Thanks for sharing. Much appreciated. Let me know how the flecainide played out for you. Is your EF ok?
He has changed my beta blockers to Toprol and cut the Spironolactone in half as well as removed the Linsinopril. When he was explaining what he felt had happened to me he kept mentioning "Neurocardiogenic Shock Syndrome" and that we'd supposedly discusssed it in the past. My son tells me that I had a detailed discussion with my doctor about this during a time when I was so sick, I dont remember the visit at all.
I have taken 25 mg coreg but have been lightheaded recently so they cut it in half. I was always tired and did gain weight. I am also taking lisinopril, magnesium, calcium, potassium and demadex. I do have a biventricular pacemaker which I think has helped me more than all the drugs. Now I need to go on a drug for prevention of ventricular fibrillation. I had two episodes recently for which I was shocked.
Does her explanation make sense? I feel better than I have in years. I just want to be sure this is why so I can make the right choices.
I'm gonna have to get in touch with my doctor and have it changed----I've been dealing with this for far too long now. I have 3rd stage kidney dieaese so I'm limited to what I can take in the first place. Anyways appreciate any input anyone can give.
