Avatar m tn I have not had any of the symptoms the ER said I should return for but where the lump was there is now a soft spot. Should I return?
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor tested to see if a rise in blood pressure aggravates or causes the return of your concussion symptoms. Your recovery time generally depends upon this assessment. A recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo’s Concussion Management Clinic suggests that cardio vascular exercise performed on a equipment that does not involve a lot of impact or bouncing such as a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill can speed the recovery process. One of the lead researchers Dr.
Avatar f tn How can I tell if I sufferred a concussion after I fell on my face/head? I can't remember anything after I fell on 9/1/07 and my memory is horrible to this day. Could I still have a post-concussion this long after the accident?
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. Injury to olfactory and lingual nerves of smell and taste could be a cause or it could be that nerves are in shock.
Avatar f tn In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. Suicidal thoughts can also be due to damage to the frontal lobe. This can also cause mood swings. Hence please get this assessed by a neurologist. A MRI of the brain should be done. Take care!
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar n tn one week after concussion my 14 week malteese turns in circles all day what can this be.
12128836 tn?1423574148 In emergency medicine a concussion in itself is not very dangerous. But a hard hit to the head can also cause a bleeding in the brain which is extremely dangerous and often fatal. Most times you just get a concussion and no brain bleeding. An extreme hit like from a car crash can cause the brain to swell and the pressure in the skull to increase which will lead to brain damage, maybe coma and possibly death. This is also unlikely.
Avatar m tn My son is healing from post concussion syndrome from multiple concussions. It's been a year since his last concussion and he is making slow progress, but progress. Still has mood swings, ADD, and sleeplessness, but has made nice gains. He went on a flight to Scottland to visit a friend and seemed fine while in Scottland, but seemed to have regressed in symptoms when he returned home.
Avatar f tn re supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all. Most of my symptoms of the concussion have gone away, aside from double vision. Thoughts?
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !
Avatar m tn It is completely impossible for a Chlamydial infection to return if it was treated successfully with Antibiotics. What can happen however is that as we get older, our bodies can become more sensitive to certain bacterial strains & with men infection of the prostate can occur (BPH). Relatively harmless bacteria could have made its way into the urethra & travelled down to the prostate, causing a flare-up of symptoms WHICH ARE NOT CHLAMYDIAL IN ORIGIN..
Avatar m tn Your doctor is right about You being past the first 24 hours which is the most dangerous for someone with concussion. I would trust his advice as he did check everything he should have however if You're concerned You can always return to him or even to another doctor for a second opinion. It seems as though You're worried at the moment that You're suffering concussion and fearing the worst, the mind can work in marvellous ways.
Avatar f tn At times a subdural hematoma develops slowly and may be missed on the first MRI. Also concussion can cause persisting headaches and should be allowed to slowly subside before active sports are considered. Injury to neck, to jaw bone, and even eyes should be considered. Get his eye sight also checked. May be the headaches are because he needs spectacles. -Take care!
Avatar m tn I have suffered from 2 concussions. My first one happened tubing behind a boat in summer 2011. Fell off the tube and immediately felt dizzy, almost as if it took me a few seconds to regain myself. I had never felt that feeling before, but assumed the jolt my head took when it hit the water that I had suffered a concussion. I didn't begin to feel that "pressure headache" until a couple of hours later that afternoon.
Avatar f tn My 17 y.o. Daughter suffered a concussion 8 weeks ago. Due to persistent symptoms, an mri was done. She has chiari 1 of 11mm, minimal CSF flow, and no syrinx at that time. She has tried naprosyn, propranolol, amitriptyline, prednisone, Frova, and now topamax. None have worked. She currently has constant headache at the back of her head and neck, head pressure, numbness and tingling in her arms to name a few symptoms. Any thoughts/experience with this situation?
1072295 tn?1255449536 , and each one gave a different syndrome. all I can say is I have post concussion syndrome/tbi for sure and probably you have that too. You are only 2 months into this and in most cases it resolves in about 6 months is what doctors told me. But you must go check with your doctor and do the ear tests/MRI (your symptoms warrants that) and all that. Who knows there will something which can be addressed and you may feel lot better or back to normal. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar f tn I would rather have my MRI read in Cleveland. I wonder how long a person can have concussion symptoms. If the symptoms should have disappeared by now, I have to wonder if it is the Chiari that is worse bc of the hard hit on the head.
