concussion

Avatar m tn What if you had a concussion? What if eating doesn't help?Is it different if you can't barley speak and move?
Avatar m tn A concussion is a specific syndrome secondary to a blow to the head. Impacts to the skull that produce a concussion can certainly cause death, if not quickly addressed in an appropriate medical facility. The cause of death is usually due to lack of oxygen to the brain secondary to swelling and the oclusion of the supply of blood and nutrients. To cut to the chase, just because you or your child has a concussion does not mean you are going to die.
Avatar f tn I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.

Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar f tn But yours may be a different reason since you already had those thoughts and concussion aggravated it. But you can get help. The best person who can help you is Neuro-Psychologist. They do know a lot about head injury and certainly know how to treat some one suffering with depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Neurologists may not be that helpful for your condition.
Avatar m tn I have always had a hard time falling asleep, and before the accident I semi-regularly used a small amount of marijuana (a couple “hits” through a vaporizer) at bedtime to alleviate the insomnia. I haven’t used drugs or alcohol since my injury, but as of this past week, my insomnia has once again made it difficult to sleep. I have tried Melatonin suppliments, herbal tea, and meditation, but none of these has been particularly helpful. I would prefer not to try stronger sleeping pills.
Avatar n tn I have a teenager who got a concussion while snowboarding, He lost significant memory at the time. The Catscan was normal. This morning I also noticed his hands shaking slightly. The doctor told me he would have symptoms for a week or two, are the shakey hands a sign of something more severe, we have a follow up appointment on Monday.
Avatar n tn Yes, they just want you to heat it up first to kill any Bacteria that might be on it. For instance, I now get my subs toasted at subway.
Avatar f tn Since this is a concussion injury which is a brain injury causes by a sudden blow to the head or to the body. Symptoms of a concussion include memory loss, headaches or blurry vision, nausea, inability to stand or walk or having coordination and balance problems. There is an entity of post concussive syndrome where there is inability to think and headaches, changes in sleep patterns and personality etc. This needs to be evaluated clinically, CT/MRI scan brain needs to be done to rule out.
Avatar n tn Sorry to alarm you but i know children miss diagnosed with anger issues or adhd only to find a brain bleed from an old knock to the head, please just be aware but not paranoid and simply seek a GPs advice or book into a concussion clinic.
Avatar n tn Who. A cuncussion is a result of a blow to a head. Forgive me if I don't see the connection between "tire blow-out" and "head injury". If there was a concussion there is a "window of opportunity" to prevent swelling that has probably passed. If these symptoms are present without a blow to the head he needs an evaluation for a stroke. He should be evaluated at an emergency room ASAP.
Avatar m tn Hi, I know there are a lot of people like me that just can't eat all that **** thats suppose to be good for you. I just can't stand the taste of the foods. The ONLY foods I really like are BAD. The doctors tell you to eat right and exercise. Well, as long as I can tast the food, I can't eat right (will power is a bunch of bull) and with rods in my back I can't do the exercise. So, the only thing I can come up with is to kill my taste buds. Does anyone know how to do that?
Avatar f tn This then can be checked for the full year if there is any sort of injury to see if it is a concussion. Otherwise, you have to look for symptoms. This article you can copy and paste has a lot of info related to concussions. We looked for the signs after my son took a big head splitter in a soccer game and was put under concussion watch. https://my.clevelandclinic.

Avatar f tn Hello, Im almost 100% certain that it wouldnt be a concussion. Even though the back of the head is the worst spot you can get hit or fall on, you would still be having tremedous pain along with other symptoms like dizzyness, blurryness, tiredness. Im sure you just had a bit of a headache for awhile.
Avatar n tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/post-concussion-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20353352 Make sure to tell the doctor about all of the workouts you're doing, to make sure you're not perpetuating the problem by doing a specific exercise. Hope you start to improve!
