bystolic weight gain

My doctor recently switched me to Bystolic - and I was given "samples" for a month but no instruction sheet or counter-indications as far as drug interaction. Would there be any problem with the above that I am taking and this drug? Also, I just lost (and want to continue to lose weight) 16 pounds on a diet program and don't want to regain that weight! Does Bystolic cause weight gain?

I would ask the doctor about a lower dose. What are you on the medication for? If your weight gain was sudden, it should be reported to your doctor. Good luck to you.

has helped with B/P but added nightmares, aches and pains, blue moods, inactivity, weight gain, no desire to do anything but sit on the couch and watch TV.....that is getting old also.....weight gain is not good for B/P and yet the Beta Blockers cause weight gain.....go figure....I am also hypothyroid which has alot of the same effects on my body as the beta blockers, so I have a double whammy.....

I take Bystolic too and I have also noticed a weight gain. I too haven't changed my eating habits. I am beginning to think it's the Bystolic because I usually can lose weight very easily, but I can't lose it now at all no matter what I do. You mentioned your systolic readings, mine do the same thing in the afternoons.

Bystolic made me gain weight, interferred with my sleep, made my legs swell, and made my blood pressure go up. After gradually withdrawing from it, my blood pressure went down again.

ve heard a lot of comments about Coreg and weight gain though. I like the adrenaline blocking affects of Coreg. With Coreg, when I get anxious, my heart doesn't get all loopy. I think for that in itself, the stuff is worth it. Sorry, don't know anything about Bystolic but am interested in learning more.

I agree, BYSTOLIC appears to control and relax the heart rate like no other beta blocker I was ever prescribed. My experience during the past couple of months with BYSTOLIC (5 mg) are excellent heart rate control, no gastro issues, anti anxiety effect and good sleep. The negative effects have been knee pain, stiff and heavy legs, especially when using stairs, low libido (loss of morning erections), and fatigue.

I am a 63 female taking 10 mg Bystolic once in the evening. I have been taking it for a year now and lately have been feeling light headed and slightly dizzy in the mornings when I wake up and then throughout the day. Is this a side effect of this drug? It was prescribed mainly for the rapid heart beats.

Some of us can gain weight, lose weight, or stay the same on these meds. It's really hard to say how we'll do on any of them unless we give them a try. Anxiety can make your BP go up. I've always had the same problem when I see my Dr. The white coat hypertension. I take my BP at home on a regular basis and it's always normal. So, I take those numbers to my Dr. Of course I still have it checked in the office too.

My blood pressure was first medicated with losartan, after early morning headcahes were waking me. Years later that symptom returned, and bystolic was added. Things were great for years again. My new symptoms include a widening gap between the upper number and lower number-the lower number has dropped into the 60's and my upper number has risen to 150's to 180's, yet I weigh less now than when I started bystolic.

Recently I have begun having problems breathing and wondered if this was the onset of CHF. I will gain 5 and 6 pounds in a couple of days that I assume is fluid because it will go away quickly with the correct diuretic. My heart is enlarged but I have not been told why. I've been on bystolic for about a month and a half. I've had some dizziness and a little fatigue. No problems sleeping or anything like that, though. I was previously on metoprolol and had awful nightmares, way worse dizziness and light headedness, heavy leg sensations, etc. Bystolic has been way better for me. Best of luck to you!

My doc LOVES Bystolic. Both are Selective Betablockers and they say Bystolic has little or no side effect. I would give it a try. I have not used either but have heard very good things about it.

I do not feel as bad on Bystolic as metoprolo, I seem to have more dizzyness on Bystolic. I do get some chest discomfort while on Bystolic that the metoprolo kept at bay.

Recently my doc placed me on the Beta Blocker Bystolic. Week one was 5mg. Week 2 was 10mg and week three was the final ramped up dose of 20mg. I was fine on the 5 and 10 mg tablets but felt like crap in the morning after taking the 20mg tablet. The doc allowed me to cut the 20mg tablet in half until our next apt at which time he prescribed Carvedilol 25 mg twice a day. Anyone have any insight as to why he might have done that?

I have called my doctor numeroud times for the shortness of breath and to see if there is something I can switch to that would not have the same effects with the fatigue and shortness of breath, she assured me that the Bystolic does not exhibit those effects and it could not be the Bystolic doing this to me that the medication has no side effects that I need to be worried about. Yet online all of what I am feeling are stated as side effects of the medication.

Bystolic is a blood pressure drug. I have been on Bystolic for 2 yrs and have never had a problem with sweating. It can be a heart related problem.

I have no problems with weight or anything else. I did smoke, drink and eat out a lot but never had any problems until about three months ago. My guess is stress and anxiety which have reached their peak for me in the last couple of months. My stress level has gotten so high I think I may need anti anxiety meds. So do you have high stress or anxiety?
