280234 tn?1532986249 Hi, I'm a 33 year old Caucasian female. I'm 5'4, 145 lbs. I developed high blood pressure in 2002 (when I was 22)during the last months of pregnancy, & after the birth of my daughter. My OB then said I did not have Toxemia. I had a really difficult labor having her, and my BP got really high during the delivery. After the delivery, my BP started running higher than it used to, like about 154/95.
Avatar m tn The tachycardia is bad enough that I take bystolic 1.25 mg daily. If I didnt I would have days were just sitting up in bed could make my heart beat faster. Going for a walk could make my heart race really fast. So Im glad bystolic works. Today however I have been lifing some moderately heavys stuff and I get palpitations so Im now considering a little more Bystolic. I would like to hear from others with IST, to hear how they cope, and if they also get anxiety when the pulse is racing.
3086858 tn?1340852861 I was put on Bystolic 10mg for the tachycardia, which I take daily. I was also put on an aspirin regimen, for the blood clotting. My doctor gave me two breathing treatments due to my severe wheezing at my appt. in which he discovered my asthma. He also had me on an Advair diskus for one week and an inhaler. I am still on a Levalbuterol oral inhaler. I was also getting facial hives, but they did not itch, I did not mention that to my doctor and from my reading I wonder if I should have.
Avatar m tn The dr prescribed me Bystolic for my blood pressure and the tachycardia (fast heartrate around 133 after eating) that I was getting. What Bystolic does is it helps prevent irregular heartbeats by making your heart beat more slowly and with less force which reduces your bloodpressure. Nowadays my blood pressure is under control and I do not get the tachycardia anymore. Since taking Bytolic I was more aware of my "skipping heartbeat" than before.
Avatar f tn until they finally hit on a new medication by Bystolic! I hit the jackpot, it was like night and day! I take 20 mg in the morning with 125 mg of magnesium taurate then 5mg of Norvasc for HTN then take 10 mg of by Bystolic at night with 125 mg of magnesium taurate in between I take .5 Xanax in the morning and at night I have not had one PVC in the last three years I feel like a different human being!
Avatar m tn t really have an answer for you except that my doctor haas placed me on bystolic for my tachycardia. My resting is not scary high but it is elevated and my exercise induced is extremely high and once it gets over 175 it takes about 90 minutes to drop to 100. Anyway I guess my point is definately ask your doctor what they think, and like Susie said I think it depends where the tachycardia is occuring. Anyway good luck to you.
Avatar n tn This forum is interesting because actually, it shows me that everyone stands differently each betablocker. I've been for 8 years on BISOPROLOL (Zebeta) for frequent sinus tachycardia (my blood pressure was always fine) and BISOPROLOL handle tachycardia or rapid heartbeat perfectly well.
Avatar f tn I take cardizem and bystolic but have not had any relief. My holter showed that I have episodes of a junctional rhythm that produce symptoms. I was hospitalized for 5 days not too long ago and my heart rate was sinus tach. at about 140-150. I also have narcolepsy and need to take stimulants to stay awake, but they make my heart unbearable.
Avatar f tn 3 years ago I had a horrible spell of my heart acting crazy. 6 trips to the ER, I hospital admission and 3 bouts of afib. I had been taking atenolol prior to this because of a couple of SVT episodes that had to be chemically converted. After the afib I was put on sotolol which caused new and different palpitations, so then I was put on bystolic which did well. So I've been plugging along with nothing more than my usual pvcs and pacs and pretty much resumed normal life.
Avatar f tn Supraventricular Tachycardia refers to any tachycardia that is not ventricular in origin. This can include physiological sinus tachycardia which can be a normal reaction to stress and a variety of non-cardiac conditions such as fever and hyperthyroidism. In the widest useful sense supraventricular tachycardia includes abnormal sinus tachycardia, ectopic atrial tachycardia, atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter and junctional tachycardia.
899454 tn?1295583938 In may 2009 I was diagnosed with mild mitral valve prolapse with mild regurgitation. Before I was diagnosed I suffered from tachycardia and sometimes PVC’s (once a month). My resting heart rate was around 80/90 bpm and when I was anxious above 120. The cardiologist put me on Bystolic (nebivolol) 2.5 mg a day. The med lowered my blood pressure (120/75) and lowered my heart rate (50+ bpm). I am in a way very pleased with the med. I another way I am now more aware of my PVC’s.
Avatar f tn Similar to the reactions a person with high blood pressure, would have to say a decongestant. That question was never answered. However, he handed me bystolic 5mg samples, and said to take them for the PAT. If anyone could answer my question about the medication reactions I would appreciate it. I also would like to know if it's wise for me to be taking the bystolic. I do not have, nor have I ever had blood pressure problems.
899454 tn?1295583938 My last Holter showed some PAC’s, about 187 PVC’s and two episodes of VT a day. The cardiologist put me on Bystolic 2,5 mg (a beta blocker). After taking the med for a month after all the side effects, I felt great. My BP was nicely under control and I didn’t got the tachycardia anymore. What I noticed is that I was getting more PVC’s than usual. I also started to take magnesium oxide 500 mg a day and omega 3 fish oil 2 grams a day in june 2009 which reduced the PVC’s that I was feeling a lot.
Avatar f tn A couple of months later my heart started going crazy with tachycardia, PVCs and PACS (seen in ER twice). They increased atenolol to 50 mg. Still had loads of palps all the time. A month later back in the ER, was in a fib. Was chemically converted and admitted to hospital. Echo and stress test were fine. Doctor put me on sotolol and I was fine for a week then started into bigemeney again. Took me off sotolol and put me back on atenolol.
899454 tn?1295583938 I took from may 2009 till august 2009 Bystolic (Nebivolol) 2.5 mg. After coping with all the side effects I was feeling allright. In september 2009 I switched to another beta blocker Bisoprolol (Concor) 2.5 mg. After taking it for two weeks I started experiencing a tingling sensation in my fingers, chest pressure and muscles pain. In the third week, one day after having lunch I went back to work.
Avatar m tn 00 NG/DL My Cardiologist prescribed Bystolic for the tachycardia, but I have not taken it yet, as I have read it can be contradicted in patients with Hyperthyroidism. Also, I have had numerous med reactions (allergic to almost every antibiotic I have been ) I seem to be easily susceptible to numerous infections, including Sinus and UTIs. I also have cystitis and a gluten allergy. Immune disorders seem to run in the family. My Grandmother had Lupus and many other health problems.

Avatar n tn I had been taking bystolic 20 mg, after my episode in December they added cardizem 240 mg. the symptoms never seemed to resolve but I tried to deal with it. Fast forward to last week I felt short of breath & dizzy, I went to the ED & was sustaining in the 160's. They started me on IV cardizem & admitted me for 4 days.
Avatar m tn I am on four medications: Bystolic (40 mg / day), Hytrin (12 mg / day), Benicar (40 mg /day), and Clonidine (2 / day). I started only on Inderal 20 years ago to control mild hypertension and paroxysmal tachycardia. History of possible Lyme Disease otherwise nothing remarkable. A year ago I started having wildly fluctuation hypertension (normally 120/70 went to 240/115 in seconds - repeatedly with no pattern, no identifiable triggers).
Avatar n tn I am a 26 Y/O Male. My normal are as follows: BP-100/70 P- 100 IR (resting ) R-16. These proved not to work. About 2 years ago while working for a fire dept. I had another episode. While I was in full firegear I felt distress. When I entered the building I collapsed. The doctor then told me anxiety. But that I did have an elevated resting heart rate. In Dec. of 2008 I began experiencing frequent palpitations and high heart rates while at rest.
Avatar f tn I’m already taking toprol, bystolic and triamterene/HCTZ and unfortunately my resting heart rate rarely drops below 110, but is mostly around 130 and shoots up to 150-160 upon standing, and between 160-170 just waking to the restroom. I was on klonopin for 4 years, a. Dry long time. I decided to come off of it last June. My tachycardia episodes have gotten so much worse since then, and the tachycardia often causes a full on panick attack, so the 2 are feeding off each other.
214864 tn?1229715239 I have been taking 20 mg of Coreg CR (continuous release) and have gained a lot of weight in a short period of time. I am considering talking to my cardio and trying a switch to Bystolic. Both are the latest generation of beta blockers, and do more than the older beta blockers. Another thing that would help me is to know if Bystolic drains the energy from you like most beta blockers because of what they do.
Avatar f tn I've been on bystolic for about a month and a half. I've had some dizziness and a little fatigue. No problems sleeping or anything like that, though. I was previously on metoprolol and had awful nightmares, way worse dizziness and light headedness, heavy leg sensations, etc. Bystolic has been way better for me. Best of luck to you!
Avatar m tn I post a question in another group but didn't had an answer... I'm a man of 37 yo, weight 165 pounds for a height of 6'. I don't exercise since 2010, stop smoking recently, disable from work, was active in the past but since a while I experience a lot of heart related symptoms and want to know if its normal or not? Right now I'm taking 30 mg of propranolol daily..
Avatar f tn My doc LOVES Bystolic. Both are Selective Betablockers and they say Bystolic has little or no side effect. I would give it a try. I have not used either but have heard very good things about it.
