Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic for heart palpitations

bystolic

Avatar m tn My doctor gave me 5mg samples of Bystolic for Heart Palpitations. He wants me to take 1 a day before bedtime. He told me that it will slow my heart rate down. Normally I get 1-2 palps daily. Slightly concerned because it can lower your blood pressure to. My blood pressure is normally around 125/80. Doc says my heart is generally in good shape but I do have some "leakage". Mild case of mitral valve prolapse and slightly large aortic valve.
Avatar n tn I will talk to my cardo about bystolic. I take it the drug controls your BP and heart rate as well as PVCs. I really don't feel good if my heart rate goes to low for me. Do you have to take any other meds with it to control BP? My cardio wants to take me off Norpace and put me back on Toprol only. I just don't feel good about that.
1933354 tn?1323362834 I have been taking it for a bit over 5 years for heart palpitations.
Avatar m tn If I didnt I would have days were just sitting up in bed could make my heart beat faster. Going for a walk could make my heart race really fast. So Im glad bystolic works. Today however I have been lifing some moderately heavys stuff and I get palpitations so Im now considering a little more Bystolic. I would like to hear from others with IST, to hear how they cope, and if they also get anxiety when the pulse is racing. I also suffer from dizziness but I dont know if this is related.
Avatar f tn Anyone have an increase in high blood pressure & heart palpitations while taking Buspirone for anxiety? I am 41 & female. I have genetic high blood pressure and take Bystolic for it. I have taken a low dose of Buspirone on and off the past few years. My doctor increased my dose a few months ago (I take 15 mg twice a day) and I feel like sometimes my heart palpitates and night. The palpitations are waking me up some nights. My BP also seems to be spiking on and off the last couple months.
Avatar f tn I had horrible palpitations and periods of feeling like i wanted to faint. I had a CT with contrast, stress echo and holter monitor. I am on Bystolic 5mg for now. I still feel the palpitations from time to time but not nearly as bad as before. I don't know what types of arrythmias there are. As we all know doctors are pressed for time at every visit so questions are answered very briefly. I wish they could type you a report that you can read and then you can ask questions.
Avatar m tn I have recently (about 6 weeks) been prescribed the new Betablocker Bystolic at 5mg/day instead of Coreg 6.125mg. Initially it has slightly reduced my heart palpitations which are less forceful, stopped some irregular or PACs and cut out the dreaming side effect of Coreg. However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks.
Avatar m tn My doctor suggested bystolic. It has worked very well for the last year, I have been very pleased with it. In fact, I didn't switch my insurance this year because the alternative company did not want to authorize the use of the bystolic (it's a lot more expensive). I have had no side effects to speak of, much less than the atenolol. I would certainly give it a shot.
1189366 tn?1265219887 Thanks for the information and I agree with you. I just want them to go away. I see that you are an IT manager. I am also in IT working as an AIX system Engineer. My condition is probably caused by the stress of the job. :-) Anway, thanks for the information.
Avatar f tn Hello I am a 35 year old female and have had heart palpitations since I was 21, showed up when I had my last child. Over the years it has become more frequent. I've talked to my doctor and they all just dismissed this. As of last year the palpitations would start and last for hours. We went to the ER were the ER doctor just told us that I would have to learn to live with this, when the cardiologist on call wanted to see me right away.
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar m tn I seen my cardiologist today and he found out Bystolic is not available here in canada. I guess it didn't pass our food and drug regulations, so now Im going to try almighty- (Acebutolol) 200mgs twice a day if that doesn't reduce pvc palpitations, bump it up to 400 mgs twice a day.. Im finally going to find out what all the hype is about and if this drug actually works that many people claim. I see the cardio dr.
Avatar n tn Bystolic is a blood pressure drug. I have been on Bystolic for 2 yrs and have never had a problem with sweating. It can be a heart related problem.
Avatar n tn I have not noticed any differences in my heart rythyms , Except my heart rate has gone up. I do not feel as bad on Bystolic as metoprolo, I seem to have more dizzyness on Bystolic. I do get some chest discomfort while on Bystolic that the metoprolo kept at bay.
1272987 tn?1274671710 Back in November I was hospitalized for severe heart palpitations, it felt like my heart was going to explode out of my chest. The ER staff did an EKG among other tests and discovered a pronounced sinus arrhythmia. I am a 22 year old female, non-smoker who until recently was pretty active. Since the diagnosis and the prescription of Bystolic from my primary care physician I've attempted to get back to my previous level of exercise.
Avatar f tn I see my doctor in a week. Again this is for heart rate only....not for BP. Im having a lot of breathing difficulties on the metoprolol.
Avatar m tn My Doctor game me a months worth of Bystolic, which is a beta blocker. My resting heart beat is @ 48-52 and up moving around it is @ 60. I work out two- three times a week, lifting and cardio. I am a very strong 55 yr old, in really good shape. A muscular 230 lbs. My worry is my heart beat is too slow for Bystolic. One of their warnings is not to take it if you have a slow heart beat, is mine too slow?
Avatar f tn CTucker225 is right FDA approved 12/07. I tried Bystolic for three months it did not work for me. My heart rate increased and had sever dizziness, Had to stop was on 10 mg.
Avatar n tn m not alone in the world with a funky heart! Long story short - I started feeling palpitations in 2003. At that time went to a cardiologist and he said I had MVP and it was all due to that. So I live my life with "an answer" and think it's just something I have to live with. It wasn't that bad once I didn't feel crazy. Fast forward to 2007 when I decide to go get a check up (new cardio) regarding my MVP. This time they find completely NSR.

Avatar f tn My doc LOVES Bystolic. Both are Selective Betablockers and they say Bystolic has little or no side effect. I would give it a try. I have not used either but have heard very good things about it.
280234 tn?1532986249 Hi, I'm a 33 year old Caucasian female. I'm 5'4, 145 lbs. I developed high blood pressure in 2002 (when I was 22)during the last months of pregnancy, & after the birth of my daughter. My OB then said I did not have Toxemia. I had a really difficult labor having her, and my BP got really high during the delivery. After the delivery, my BP started running higher than it used to, like about 154/95.
Avatar n tn I have been on 5mg bystolic for a couple of months. My knees also ache. The worst part is I am exhausted all the time. I have also put on 15 pounds in the couple of months I've been taking it. It is controlling my heart rate. I also take Micardis.
Avatar m tn Bystolic is the newest beta blocker available in the U.S. LIke other beta blockers, the most common adverse events with Bystolic are headache, fatigue and dizziness. However, the manufacturer states studies have shown that Bystolic was well tolerated, with a low incidence of traditional beta blocker side effects.
Avatar n tn I am a 52 year old male, I am over weight but have lost 103 pounds. Now my resting heart rate is 58 to 60,, is that ok? I've been taking bystolic for a long time.
