Bystolic beta blocker side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic beta blocker side effects

bystolic

Avatar f tn Just curious if anyone who is taking bystolic experiences side effects all the time, or if it is a gradual onset after dosing, or what? My side effects always seem to hit me in the late afternoon, early evening. I take my dose anytime between 6am and 7am.
Avatar m tn s come from their beta-1 selectivity, and most of the side effects are due to the beta-2 selectivity. Bystolic is the most highly beta-1 specific BB, at daily doses of 5 mg and less. After I switched to Bystolic, within 2 weeks the symptoms you describe went away and I have regained a considerable amount of my aerobic capacity. I'm also not tired all the time any more. It's worth asking.
1933354 tn?1323362834 I am on day 7 of the beta, I do feel a huge difference, a lot less anxiety, all my physical symptoms of anxiety are gone. However, I am noticing some effects of the beta blocker, such as heavy legs, really tired, tightness in chest. Some people are telling me this can't be the beta blocker, and that I should stick out my 30 day regiment. Has anyone experienced this medication for anxiety before? I am debating if I should get off this or not.
Avatar f tn 5 mgs daily and it is a more pulmonary or lung friendly beta blocker. I found out that it is the beta blocker most pulmonary doctors recommend it their patients need beta blockers... However there is no generic for Bystolic and it is more expensive... I sure do like it better than the Metorpolol though... its worth the extra cost..
Avatar m tn Hi, The medication's generic name is "Nebivolol". It's Brand Name is Nebilet, you may have the spelling off a little. From what I read, the drug "is a so-called vasodilating beta blocker. Thus, in contrast to traditional beta blockers, it is more patient friendly in that it maintains systemic flow and blood flow to target organs, lowers vascular resistance, and has very little, if any, metabolic adverse effects," Messerli explained.
2177189 tn?1337555322 ve been told there are not side effects but after speaking to fellow pacemaker buddies it seems 6/10 have horrible, debilitating side effects. Are there any alternatives or possibly a safer beta blocker? Is there another, safer pill that can stop the SVT? Oh and my concern about medicine is because I'm only 26 and worried about long term percussions.
Avatar f tn I been on Bystolic for sometime now/ I didn't realize there were side effects to this pill? I have some of those side effects you are talking about. I'm not sure which pill I take might be cause of it. I have the wakefulness at night and I take Bystolic in the mornings. Ihave dizziness and not sure if it's this pill because I have had dizziness before? I have up n down or highs and lows with my blood pressure.
Avatar m tn im am a 31 year old male. I'm not over weight and in pretty good shape, active everyday. about 1 1/2 years ago i got really stressed out that my heat started running around 125 bpm non stop. i didn't have any symptoms just became worried about it. my doctor notice it during a check up for an allergy infection and sent me to a heart doctor. the heart doctor did pretty much every test you could think of and said everything looked good other than my heart skip and was beating pretty fast.
Avatar n tn (like older beta blockers) I believe BISOPROLOL (ZEBETA)though an older beta blocker, is currently the better beta blocker, but it does not provide the greatest heart rate control.
687614 tn?1244197979 Now they are thinking of Inderal, but it has more of these side effects that Bystolic. My dx just came today... Sino Atrial Node Dysfunction... of which I have started as another post.
Avatar m tn I am taking it for slightly high blood pressure. As it happens, I also have frequent palpitations (for decades now). I find that Bystolic actually *does* decrease my palps, even though I did not expect that! BTW, this is the only blood pressure medication I've ever taken that seems to be without nasty side effects. The first week, I felt as though I might have had a bit too much to drink, but since then, I can't even tell that I'm taking anything.
Avatar m tn Bystolic IS a beta blocker that also contains a vasodialator component in it. I'm happy that is is working for you. As a cautionary note though, Bystolic is not a drug that you can abruptly end, and here are also a number of serious side effects associated with this drug.
Avatar n tn I agree, BYSTOLIC appears to control and relax the heart rate like no other beta blocker I was ever prescribed. My experience during the past couple of months with BYSTOLIC (5 mg) are excellent heart rate control, no gastro issues, anti anxiety effect and good sleep. The negative effects have been knee pain, stiff and heavy legs, especially when using stairs, low libido (loss of morning erections), and fatigue.
Avatar n tn Recently my doc placed me on the Beta Blocker Bystolic. Week one was 5mg. Week 2 was 10mg and week three was the final ramped up dose of 20mg. I was fine on the 5 and 10 mg tablets but felt like crap in the morning after taking the 20mg tablet. The doc allowed me to cut the 20mg tablet in half until our next apt at which time he prescribed Carvedilol 25 mg twice a day. Anyone have any insight as to why he might have done that?
Avatar n tn Has anyone been on BYSTOLIC its a beta-blocker. shes haveing some weird side affects anybody no anything about it?
4703993 tn?1379768388 5 (really small dose, but even with 10mg of Midodrene 3x a day my blood pressure would drop too low and the side effects were unbearable) .. so he concluded that I have a sensitivity to beta blockers.
Avatar n tn ve been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure). I've also been told by my GP that, if I find myself with a rapid heart rate or back in A-fib, I can take another 2.5mg dose right then, since it's such a small dosage.
Avatar m tn i have posted before about somei ssues now like always i have another one i was takeing metatoprol 50mg 2 a day and i was gettingskipped beats andhe took me off the metatoprol and has putmeon bystolic hesaidit hadless of a beta blocker in it well since i have been takeing itmy heart rate has been lower it hasbeen 55 to 60 i am a 23 year oldmale and was pu ton the toprol for averag eheart rate of 78 to 81( holter monitor) i dont feel i need a beta blocker at all or did i need it is that heartrate
Avatar m tn Atenolol made me worse too. I had a really bad period last year when I was in the ER 5 times and in the hospital once. Even had a couple of episodes of afib. My doctor suggested bystolic. It has worked very well for the last year, I have been very pleased with it. In fact, I didn't switch my insurance this year because the alternative company did not want to authorize the use of the bystolic (it's a lot more expensive).
Avatar m tn I appear to tolerate Metoprolol very well with little to no side effects now to physical activity, or my libido. Each type of of beta blocker comes with its own little set of side effects, and you may have to experiment to find which one is suits you best. Metoprolol has been around for a long time, and is extremely popular. I would expect it common to experience side effects when starting up on it, and it could take a little time to acclimate to it.
