Bystolic and side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic and side effects

bystolic

Avatar n tn I have been taking it for a year now and lately have been feeling light headed and slightly dizzy in the mornings when I wake up and then throughout the day. Is this a side effect of this drug? It was prescribed mainly for the rapid heart beats.
Avatar f tn The Dr put me on Bystolic, but it was samples and there is no information on side effects. I have started having stomach problems and acid reflux lately. Can the Bystolic be causing this? What would be other good choices?
Avatar m tn Common side effects experienced by people taking Bystolic included headache, fatigue, dizziness, weakness and diarrhea. I have not seen any findings that others are experiencing this side effect. However if you are experiencing joint and muscle pain I would definitely urge you to contact the prescriber and discuss your symptoms. It may be more likely that the Crestor is causing the joint and muscle pain.
Avatar f tn Just curious if anyone who is taking bystolic experiences side effects all the time, or if it is a gradual onset after dosing, or what? My side effects always seem to hit me in the late afternoon, early evening. I take my dose anytime between 6am and 7am.
Avatar n tn I am a female, age 63 have been on Bystolic for about 2 years have knee and leg pain that seems to be getting worse.Have mentioned this to my Doctor he says not one of listed side effects so he blew me off.
Avatar f tn This works well to control my tachy....but, has bad side effects of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. I lookd up Bystolic..and it has none of these type side effects listed. I was going to ask my doctor to change to Bystolic. Has anyone here had any success in changing over to Bystolic from Metoprolol ?
Avatar m tn It worked really well up until the last year. Have had very few side effects.
Avatar m tn I am taking it for slightly high blood pressure. As it happens, I also have frequent palpitations (for decades now). I find that Bystolic actually *does* decrease my palps, even though I did not expect that! BTW, this is the only blood pressure medication I've ever taken that seems to be without nasty side effects. The first week, I felt as though I might have had a bit too much to drink, but since then, I can't even tell that I'm taking anything.
687614 tn?1244197979 Now they are thinking of Inderal, but it has more of these side effects that Bystolic. My dx just came today... Sino Atrial Node Dysfunction... of which I have started as another post.
Avatar n tn ve been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure). I've also been told by my GP that, if I find myself with a rapid heart rate or back in A-fib, I can take another 2.5mg dose right then, since it's such a small dosage.
Avatar m tn With all that said, I guess my major question is are these some of the side effects when taking Bystolic? Should I go back to my Doctor and request he put me back on Atenolol? I believe the Atenolol was doing the job. I had a few spikes and most of them were while in a Doctors office. I might add I have been taking the Atenolol since my Heart Surgery in 1996.
Avatar m tn 5 weeks ago I had a mild heart attack and received a stent in the one veinous graft (the 3 arterial grafts were perfectly clear). I have been placed on plavix and 6.25mg 2x/day of carvedilol - and the side effects of carvedilol is my concern. First is the feeling of lightheadedness, which was severe at first, but still remains.
1217309 tn?1267050177 I took Lexapro for about a month and at first it worked, but it felt like I was a zombie (hope that makes sense) kind of zoned out - I assume that's what it's supposed to do? dr never told me anything. I didn't notice any help with anxiety/depression issues though and when my month was done, I didn't go back. Still woke up with nightmares, panic attacks etc. btw...
343006 tn?1314446471 For me , verapamil did not work ( very fatigued), toprol XL had horrible side effects after several days, ect.. And then you may have to adjust your doseage too! I finally found atenolol, still not perfect ( none would be better) but it works the best for me with least side effects. I have found calcium/mag supplements help my heart palps- anyone out know natural remedies for B/P issues?? Good luck, and don't give up til you find something that works, either natural or pharmacutical!!
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for your thoughts. I take 5 mg of Bystolic. Just reread the side effects. This could be the source of the issue. Getting the blood pressure meds right is tricky business and some more tweaking may be necessary. I have taken Azor with the Bystolic. I may need to resume that. Again, thank you.
Avatar n tn I think we need to decide which drug benefit appears most important to us, and be aware that side effects may improve over time and that everyone reacts differently.. P.S.
1933354 tn?1323362834 However, if you are not comfortable with it there are different classes of medicaitons that are prescribed specifically for anxiety. Also, we are already nervous and can tend to focus on the potential side effects much more intently, in my experience with anxiety. Keep us posted!
Avatar n tn I have had far fewer side effects from it than from the atenolol. The atenolol did nothing for PVCs and PACs for me, in fact, it actually seemed to make them worse. I've been taking bystolic since November..so far so good.
Avatar n tn He is taking bystolic and amour thryoid as medications. Both seem to have side effects that can be heart arythmia. I am looking at hawthorne berries to assist in helping his arythmias. Are there any other viable solutions? The last visit to the doctor, indicated that his thyroid level may need to be examined.
343006 tn?1314446471 but mostly feel dumpy and tired and I get sick feeling - iv been on verapamil for 6years now - and I can no longer take the sr or slow release extended release pills -as they no longer seem to work .. and side effects happen more so than before. but the normal 80mg verapamil pills work fine ? other than my ankles swell up and foot tops.. from it. I can't seem to get help on this matter from any Doctor or even Pharm employees.
Avatar m tn I have called my doctor numeroud times for the shortness of breath and to see if there is something I can switch to that would not have the same effects with the fatigue and shortness of breath, she assured me that the Bystolic does not exhibit those effects and it could not be the Bystolic doing this to me that the medication has no side effects that I need to be worried about. Yet online all of what I am feeling are stated as side effects of the medication.
