Bystolic and low heart rate

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic and low heart rate

bystolic

Avatar n tn I also tried metoprolol which was eventually replaced by atenolol. Both dropped my blood pressure somewhat, but also lowered my resting heart rate down into the 40's during sleep. I asked my cardiologist about discontinuing the atenolol and he said to decrease the dose gradually. I have not taken any meds for the last week and my resting heart rate is now in the 60's or low 70's and my blood pressure has not changed that much.
116881 tn?1189755823 I also had slow heart rate at first and felt a bit out of it but after a short while it got much better to the point it does not feel like I am on anything. The big thing I notice is when I run my heart rate stays below 120 when before the meds it would go to 140 on average and if I pushed i can go to 160bpm. When I run I feel normal even at a slower heart rate then before. I actually feel much better. Stick it out and you will do better.
Avatar m tn I am on LISINOPRIL-HCTZ 20-25MG and BYSTOLIC for HBP I am also on PRAVASTATIN for Cholesterol. I recently had to stop the Bystolic because my heart rate was low between 45-62. I am 54 and I excercise a lot yet nobody seem to know I have this chest pain and constant fatigue. I need help so bad. My heart rate sometimes goes as high as 120.
Avatar m tn IST involves a chronic rapid heart rate, as well as exaggerated heart rate response to stimuli such as exercise. I had IST (and PACs - I still have PACs) for a couple of months after a virus infection back in 2010. Even light exercise (such as walking) could get my heart rate into the 160s, and walking up hills could get the heart rate into the 200s. It probably didn't help that the heart rate made me panic. Propranolol (beta blocker) helped me tremendously.
Avatar n tn I would think the Bystolic is pushing your heart rate down into those numbers. I take Atenolol for A Fib and my heart rate went from usually in the low 90's to right around 50. THe Dr told me it isnt a problem unless you feel faint. Do you have other issues they are worried about? The chest pain could be the A Fib. are you in constant a Fib?
Avatar m tn The question I have is I am taking Bystolic Imdur ER and Lisiniprol which I know the Bystolic keeps the heart rate way down...at what rate should I use for heart rate for training .. My max would normally 158 but I am not sure what changes on meds.......
Avatar n tn My experience during the past couple of months with BYSTOLIC (5 mg) are excellent heart rate control, no gastro issues, anti anxiety effect and good sleep. The negative effects have been knee pain, stiff and heavy legs, especially when using stairs, low libido (loss of morning erections), and fatigue. I 've also experienced some weight gain, higher cholesterol, and my blood pressure is not being controlled too well.
Avatar n tn I am a 52 year old male, I am over weight but have lost 103 pounds. Now my resting heart rate is 58 to 60,, is that ok? I've been taking bystolic for a long time.
Avatar f tn After a stress test was determened that when my heaert is stressed there is a part of my heart when stressed does not get adaquate blood flow so dr put me on Bystolic also to bring heart rate down,,,well it has done that my blood pressure is not all that low my question is will this med bring heart rate too low...
Avatar n tn I have been on 5mg bystolic for a couple of months. My knees also ache. The worst part is I am exhausted all the time. I have also put on 15 pounds in the couple of months I've been taking it. It is controlling my heart rate. I also take Micardis.
Avatar m tn I been taking Bystolic 5mg for a year now and sometimes it works to well. It will get low and stay that way for days.
Avatar f tn believed to be panic/anxity attacks (heart rate around 120-130). My heart rate has always run around 85-95 on a normal basis but during this time, I was going through a period of having severe chest pain and having to go to the ER. The pains turned out to be esophageal spasms/reflux. However, during this time I thought I was having heart problems. I was sent for a stress test in the first part of Jan 08. The results came back fine with absolutely no detection of heart diease.
Avatar m tn My Doctor game me a months worth of Bystolic, which is a beta blocker. My resting heart beat is @ 48-52 and up moving around it is @ 60. I work out two- three times a week, lifting and cardio. I am a very strong 55 yr old, in really good shape. A muscular 230 lbs. My worry is my heart beat is too slow for Bystolic. One of their warnings is not to take it if you have a slow heart beat, is mine too slow?
Avatar f tn If I increased to just 5mg my heart rate became too slow, around 28bpm. At 1.25mg I could get my heart rate quite high, but it got there nice and gently. No sudden adrenaline surges caused it to suddenly jump high. It was strange to not feel those familiar butterflies when under stress. Bisoprolol didn't affect my blood pressure, I had to take an Ace Inhibitor separately for that.
Avatar n tn 122 lbs), but have recently been diagnosed with hypertension and tachycardia (rapid heart rate). Until recently, I always had low-normal blood pressure, but now it is ranging from 130/85-160/110. Also I constantly have a rapid heart rate while at rest, ranging from 110-160 beats per minute. I purchased a home heart and blood pressure monitor, most recent reading was 130/96 with a heart rate of 128 beats per minute.
Avatar f tn HI,I went back to my cardologist today because of my shortness of breath and chest pain and dizziness,,,he showed me the pictures of my stress test and he explained that the small portion that does not get adequate blood when stressed is not a serious thing,,,,but my heart rate problem,he gave me Verapamil sr to try this time 120 mg i have tried Bystolic and Atenol they made me feel very strange im so afraid this new med will drop my heart rate to much,,,,sometimes at night my heart rate is 86
280234 tn?1532986249 Hi, I'm a 33 year old Caucasian female. I'm 5'4, 145 lbs. I developed high blood pressure in 2002 (when I was 22)during the last months of pregnancy, & after the birth of my daughter. My OB then said I did not have Toxemia. I had a really difficult labor having her, and my BP got really high during the delivery. After the delivery, my BP started running higher than it used to, like about 154/95.
Avatar m tn Are you in permanent AFib, or do you have periods of normal sinus rhythm? What is you blood pressure and resting heart rate? High BP can cause heart enlargement. Is the heart size stable, not continuing to enlarge? Are you taking an anticoagulant to reduce stroke risk? I am much older and suffer from Permanent AFib, for which I take drugs to control the ventricle HR and and anticoagulant to reduce stroke risks associated with blood clot formation in the fibrillating atrium.
Avatar m tn •Have a slow heartbeat or your heart skips beats (irregular heartbeat) I'm guessing that my doctor thinks my heart palpitations are not considered an irregular heartbeat? I'll ask him but I found this a little scary.
Avatar n tn I will talk to my cardo about bystolic. I take it the drug controls your BP and heart rate as well as PVCs. I really don't feel good if my heart rate goes to low for me. Do you have to take any other meds with it to control BP? My cardio wants to take me off Norpace and put me back on Toprol only. I just don't feel good about that.
Avatar f tn This works well to control my tachy....but, has bad side effects of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. I lookd up Bystolic..and it has none of these type side effects listed. I was going to ask my doctor to change to Bystolic. Has anyone here had any success in changing over to Bystolic from Metoprolol ?
687614 tn?1244197979 So what do you take now that helps you. You must of went off it and on to something else? Just curious.
1272987 tn?1274671710 In some individuals, under certain conditions, it can be pretty pronounced, with more than 50% change in heart rate (from my own experience) and this may be perceived as skipped beats or double beats (extrasystoles) when switching from inspiration to expiration. I doubt your exercise intolerance is caused by sinus arrhythmia. When exercising, you are stimulating the sympatethic nerve system and sinus arrhythmia usually is less pronounced.
Avatar n tn I have a 20% efraction rate recently received a ICD ... Bystolic and diabetic, Hypertension meds... I am tired all the time and have not been given a real idea of prognosis.
Avatar m tn My main question is how low can your heart rate get and still be safe? I'm afraid to take a beta block for my hypertension because my hr at night gets as low as 55 without them. I'm 24 years old I have hypertension, I'm active/normal weight I also have LVH from my hypertension. Would it be safe for me to take this beta blocker bystolic My doctor has prescribed me? He said it wouldn't lower it much but from the posts I've seen they do. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn I apologize as this is on the long side. I have asked for testing on several occassions for Thyroid problems due to the multiple symptoms that I have. My labs (which my Dr.s usually only check the TSH level) usually are in the normal range. Many times they are only a few tenths in range of what the labs consider to be the normal range. The last TSH test (over 1 year ago) came back .39 on a range of .35-5.0. I am currently waiting on new lab results.
214864 tn?1229715239 A trip to the hospital, removal of the clot and I have a-fib and heart rate dropping to very low number{lower 30's}. Now, the healthy heart I had is damaged from Bystolic. I am told I must have a pacemaker to keep my heart rate above 50 and so they can give me strong drugs to stop the a-fib. I have been to see my doctor very often to complain that I am unable to function because of fatigue. He said 100/55 is okay as long as I can think and don't faint.
