in the past 6 weeks I have gone running 3 times and each time within the first 1/4 mile I start to get upper chest and throat burning and pain followed by coughing and mucous for a couple of hours (This happened in 80 degree temps too). About 8 weeks ago I ran 2-3 miles once a week with none of these symptoms at all. Since June 1st I have lost 35 pounds (212 down to 177 and I'm 33 years old 6' tall) during my weight loss campaign for my wedding that was on October 17th.
I work fulltime and have been miserable now for about 6 months with a terrible burning in my throat, chest and under my breastbone.I have been to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack, but was assured that all test were normal, but also said that without further testing could not rule out heart disease.Well needless to say I have not had other testing but am still experiencing this terrible pain. I am taking Prilosec OTC daily and the pain will subside occasionally but always comes back.
burning Lungs and throat I have a burning sensation in my lungs and throat when I run or when I do any high intensity excise. Several hours after my exercise I take a large breath and it feels like my lungs are on fire. The only thing I can equate the burning sensation too, is when you take a huge breath on a very smoky day. I assume that something is being inflamed in the lungs and along my esophagus. But I don't know what the cause.
After climbing the stairs or other exertion, I've started having a burning, painful sensation in the area of my chest and neck junction. It actually feels centered at my lower throat, immediately above the sternum. It feels like it's on fire. Also, my heart rate speeds up considerably. It subsides quickly with rest. I am 3 years post RNY (gastric bypass). I also have cirrhosis (non-alcohol type), with an enlarged spleen and portal hypertension.
Now, in just the past week, I have been hit with the worst burning in my chest that I have ever felt. It is literally a 24 hour burn that won't respond to anything. I went back to my Aciphex but it was giving me shortness of breath sensation so I switched to my leftover Nexium pills with a dosage of 2 40mg pills per day to try to get the situation under control. I got some minor relief but now the burn is coming right through the Nexium and I'm feeling it around the clock.
I also am experiencing burning in my upper chest and pain through to my back, it seems to get worse with stress. I am a healthy, very fit 36 year old woman. I sometimes get the sensation I need to cough with it, however there is nothing there, just a dry hack. Also sometimes feels as though it is fluttery...no clue what it is, but if it continues much longer I am going to check it out with an M.D.
It seems like it is almost a burp that has been stuck in my throat for years. I can't pinpoint the exact place, It feels like it is in the back of my throat/upper chest/lungs area. It is very pronounced and loud and i can't seem to get rid of it. Its gotten to the point where people can hear it across a room. I try drinking or eating something but that only makes it worse. It usually comes up at random times during the day.

I am a 26 year old female and have had this burning sensation on the left side of my throat for a month and recently has went up into the back of my mouth and down into my chest, and in the upper portion of my arms. It is CONSTANT! My doctor took a look at my throat and said it looked irritated and did give me amoxicillon incase there was any bacterial infection, I have been on it for 6 days now.
i have h. pylori and took prevacid off and on for two years. i have not been taking it in the last couple of months and have been fine until recently. i just began taking it again. i have had acid reflux before, but this is different. it does not run up into my throat, although it does seem to be worse when i recline. i have mild tricuspid and mitral regurgitation and possible pulmonary hypertension, according to an internist.
Ever since, I have had burning in my upper chest and throat. My doctor has done a procedure where he went down my throat and into my stomach. He said everything looked fine. Had a little reflux, but not bad. Then, I wore a monitoring device which stayed on for 24 hours. It was to record any belching, coughing, and heartburn. It had an attached tube, which went down my throat. The test showed nothing.
Hi everyone, in the last 2 months I developed a weird sensation in my upper chest area. I have seen 3 doctors and did bloodwork, EKG, chest x-ray, swallowing test, and all of which came back normal. However, the sensation in my chest was first slightly tight (doesn't hurt) and over a course of a week or so it gotten so weird..there's this discomfort surge in my chest like an adrenaline rush when you almost hit a car or got scared from behind..etc.
I would suggest that you have some asthma testing done. Those were my symptoms as a child with undiagnosed asthma. It sounds like exercise induced asthma. My two cents. Take care and feel better. God bless.

Now is that an anxiety attack? gosh i really hope someone finds something fast. and i think you should find a doctor who will put a heart monitor on you. its like a portable monitor and the records your beats and actions of your heart.
The pain begins in the center of my chest and goes straight through to my back, as if someone has stabbed me. Usually this pain is also accompanied by a pain that shoots up the right side of my throat (not a burning pain in my throat, but more like a painful shooting pain). The pain can last anywhere from several minutes to many hours (worst bout lasted about 10 hours and just kept getting worse as time went on). I do also have some abdominal pain directly in the center of upper abdomen.

A lot of pressure in the chest area. She could not do her normal routine work. She could not walk for some distance. If she does, she says the burining increases and she could not bear the pain. When she takes medications like TUMs she feels comfortable for a short time and afterwords she is having the problem again. in the night she feels maximum pain and have difficulties in sleeping. Would the endoscopy caused any issue?

Hello--I have mild pressure in my upper chest and throat area after eating fried food and drinking ice water, no other symptoms. Tums does not seem to have helped, and feels different than heartburn I experienced during pregnancy. Any ideas?
I started thinking it was an upper chest/sternal injury and got an x-ray which was fine. Also am currently going to a chiropractor thinking that if something like a rib were out of place, maybe that would help. After 3 sessions I am not feeling much different. When I first experienced the burning/discomfort 8 months ago, I laid off all alcohol, chocolate, tea, coffee for nearly two months and did not notice any real difference.
I can actually feel the lump and nothing will relieve it unless I force my self to burp and that dosn't alway help either. Sometime I get pain in my chest and upper back. I have had a barium swallow, H-Pylori test and ultra sounds for gallbladder and liver function. All tests came back negative. I'm so miserable I have lost 15 pounds since Nov. I have taken Prilosec OTC and these has eased the pressure a little however I still have the same symptoms just less intense.
On Saturday, 1/23 I was eating Chinese food and got choked on a small piece of chicken. While trying to clear my throat food came back up into my throat. For the last 4 days I have felt like I have a "lump in my throat" accompanied by minor upper chest pain. Whenever I swallow it is really an annoying feeling, but it is there all the time.
I have had a fullness feeling in by throat/upper chest for the past 8 days and I don't know what it is. I have lost my appetite and have a hard time making myself eat. It's very strange, my throat doesn't hurt and my stomach doesn't hurt but I feel nauseous. I had a sinus infection and bronchitis, finished the antibiotics and since then I have had this issue. I'm still coughing up mucus and that is what it feels like is in my throat.
It scares me because I feel like the pain is closer to my heart than it should be. The other day I went for a light walk and the burning pressure pain came back and affected my whole upper left region, even into my shoulder. I found that it was getting hard to breathe and I couldnt get a deep breath in at all. I have very bad acid reflux and digestive problems but I'm not sure if what I am experiencing is from that. I am 18 and a smoker. I'm also overweight.
