JUST STARTED THIS MED TODAY TO ME QUIT SMOKING. I HAVE BEEN FEELING DIZZY ALL DAY-WHICH I KNOW IS A SIDE EFFECT. WILL THIS GO AWAY THE MORE I TAKE THIS OR WILL I FEEL LIKE THIS EVERYDAY? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/721252'>Forum Guidelines - Please read before Posting</a>.

I suppose there must be some research showing it helps people quit smoking, but it seems like taking a drug to quit a drug is a bit odd, especially this one, which can cause anxiety. Stopping nicotine usually makes people nervous, and this can make people more nervous. But what do I know?

my wife is taking bupropion sr 150 mg to quit smoking and wants to know if cold medication can be taken while on this drug.

I am going to try to quit smoking. My doctor prescribed Zoloft. Why? I am not depressed. (I am 66 and have smoked since about 14).

I realy want to quit smoking and it is hard for me to say no and put them down anyone have any advise on how to stop smoking.

i'm on wellbutrin to STOP smoking weed, does it really works for that?....and if i smoke what would happen?....or if i get drunk?......my dose is 150, twice a day so in a day i take 300 mg's...and i also take clonazepam for sleeping disorder....

I have been taking one 150 mg of bupropion for a few months now and I went for a UA and failed with like a 66% of THC in my urine is this a normal amount ?

Does anyone have experience with taking Bupropion (Wellbutrin) to help with no longer using 30 mg Roxicet?

My husband has tried to quit so many times, One Step at a Time filters, Nicorette, Smoke Enders, Bupropion, Welbutrin, etc. He is the sweetest person until he tries to quit, and then he starts having anxiety attacks. I really feel that the smoking is aggravating this allergy situation. I put in expensive air purifier filters that were custom made for our heating/ aircondtioning system. I had an air purifier too but that didn't seem to help.

There may be other solutions if you cant give up smoking, like so many of us have been unable to, it doesnt mean you dont deserve medical care just because you smoke! I myself have mostly given up on trying to quit smoking, so I just try to plan my life around it and make any changes to other treatments as needed. Talk to your Doctors to see what they suggest besides quitting smoking.

I'm going to be perscribed Bupropion (Wellbutrin, Zyban) for ADHD and depression. I smoke pot averagely every day, and I don't know if I should start taking this drug if it is dangerous for me when combining pot and bupropion. I am 17 and 130 lbs if that would help for anything and am taking a dosage of 150 mg of bupropion.

My husband has been taking Bupropion HSL SR 150mg for a few months and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the Bupropion XL 150mg he was taking for a few years before he was switched because, the pharmacy said, they could not get the Bupropion XL 150mg at that time. My husband has dementia. He takes the Bupropion in the morning along with his Aricept and Exforge (for blood pressure). He gets drowsy right after taking his pills and I think it may be the Bupropion HSL SR causing this.

I know I can get the same way.I have recently quit smoking (7 weeks ago) and I also can work myself up imagining the worse case scenario. Remember even if it is malignant it has been caught before you had symptoms and most likely very curable.Be grateful that the radiologist found it, be grateful that you live in an age where new treatments are always being discovered. Remember that the mind body connection is very strong.

I think they are trying every way to keep one from smoking, and that's good. I know of no issues with smoking while on the medications, but I do know the long term effects of smoking and they're not good. But one thing at a time. Caffeine makes anxiety worse because it is a stimulant, so maybe this should be the first thing you work on giving up. Not all therapists are good, and you need to find another one that can address your particular issue.

doc suggested going off of bupropion and switch to paxil. It has been 11 days. still taking the bupropion 150 and lamictal 100 but have had to start taking a lot more klonopin because to the rise in anxiety and I don't like taking this.

I am taking Bupropion...which is also used as a anti depressate...but it works great on the smoking....talked to dr about meds to help stop smoking..was scared of what I had heard..dr recomended this...

You can try that and they are very cheap in some pharmacy's.

It is also used to stop smoking. I quit smoking its very hard. My logic says if this drug aka wellbutrin can help with that habit it aught to be really good against hydrocodone.

My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

It is excellent that your partner is trying to quit smoking, and it is equally excellent that you are supporting his push to stop. Stopping smoking is hard but it can be done. Normally we tackle this on multiple levels. Through your cardiologist or family doctor, your partner can be referred to counseling services. Nicotine replacement therapy has been very helpful for many people- your partner can try gum, lozenges or patches.

I tried everything to quit smoking and finally did at 22 weeks. im now 26w3d and its so nice to say i quit. I tried everything to quit and i guess after my ultrasound it hit me that i really needed to try n quit once n fer all not just fer a day or two. I ended up quiting cold turkey and asked for my husbands help. He smokes. I wouldnt have any lighters cigs or money to buy em around the house and picked up a new habit. Going on walks....im here fer u if u need someone to talk to. Thatll help.

I smoked for 2 years. I know not a long time but this is how I quit. Ok I started just smoking half then I'd go down to a half of a half. I also chewed gum everytime id get an urge. And I wouldn't smoke that first one in the mornings. Id wait as long as I could then smoke. You could try eating sunflower seeds too. Hope that helps. Good luck! Princess.
