Bupropion and sertraline

Common Questions and Answers about Bupropion and sertraline

wellbutrin

took half my pill for 3 nights and on the 4th morning I started 150mg of Wellbutrin (Bupropion). This Monday will be 2 weeks that I have been on the Bupropion and it has been a living hell so far. The panic attacks have came back, I'm very irritable, short fused and cry at the drop of a dime-then immediately feel guilty afterwards.
B12, thyroid, neuro issues, heart issues, thiamine, and more. I broke down and started bupropion 8 weeks ago, I am up to 300XL and have been for 6 weeks. I have felt a roller coaster of emotions, and during the 8 weeks maybe 5 days of feeling "good". My question is: is it possible I actually need more time to see results with bupropion? In your opinion, is a SSRI or serotogenic drug a better remedy for sudden clinical depression for a woman?
Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you that there shouldn't be any contraindication to taking Ibuprofen, Acetominophen or Aleve with those two medications. Hope that helps!
Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite). However, if the eating disorder you are is either anorexia or bulimia this is not an option because during clinical trails bupropion caused a slightly increased rate of new seizures in those two eating disorders.
Are you of bupropion (Wellbutrin) now? How long are you off it? Unfortunately, both sertraline (Zoloft) and bupropion can present with side-effects of numbness, irritability, and weight gain and it would be difficult to determine which one could be causing the symptoms. Aside from this there are other possible causes including improper sleeping posture, nerve impingement, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and endocrine disorders such as thyroid diseases or diabetes.
Ive been taking 100mg of sertraline for 6 months my moods are up and down always feeling tired angry confused weird dry mouth going crazy :( anyone else experience this ?
s not prescribed in the UK (I asked my GP for it and he'd never even heard of it). I'm thinking of trying Sertraline (Zoloft) next. And I've heard that Effexor does really make you gain weight. It's so annoying! You start to feel better on the meds but the weight gain can really make you feel worse. Which other meds have you tried?
• Venlafaxine (Effexor) • Bupropion (Wellbutrin) • some SSRIs, such as Fluoxetine (Prosac), Sertraline (Zoloft), and Citalopram (Celexa). You are asking if there is an anti-depressant that is the less likely to cause weight gain than Effexor. As you can see, Effexor is amongst the least likely to cause weight gain, and in fact, is known to contribute to weight loss. You may wish to try an alternative on the list above. It is unclear why anti-depressants cause weight gain.
My BP is naturally low (when off caffeine) SBP 105-110 mgHg, so adding propranolol is not an option. Clonazepam helps a little, it think, it's hard to tell. Both sertraline and bupropion have tremor as a side effect. Any thoughts on how I could work with my doctor to suppress this bilateral hand tremor?
The usual approach is trying a combination of medications from different classes, optimizing their dosages while minimizing side effects, and seeing which combination works best for the individual. The main medication classes for the treatment of depression are Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs – ex. Zoloft [Sertraline]), Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs – ex. Cymbalta [Duloxetine]), Tri-cyclic antidepressants (ex.
Medications in this category include nefazodone, venlafaxine and duloxetine. A medication that also works with the brain chemical dopamine is bupropion. Bupropion is unlikely to cause weight gain, and in fact, may cause some weight loss. It is also used to help people quit smoking.
Chronic severe diarrhea began with the first one (Zoloft/sertraline) and has continued. It became a little less severe when I was switched to Effexor/venlafaxine, which caused a host of other problems. I have now been off these drugs and back on my original antidepressant, Wellbutrin, for roughly two years and nine months.
The only thing that has worked was a combination of sertraline and bupropion, but I was told that the way I was feeling, I was in a hypo-manic state and that was not good for me. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do? I am tried of trying different medications and getting nowhere!
Medicines I started in the past 2 years are (pantoprazol, ramipril, metformin, bupropion, sertraline). Ultrasound shows kidneys normal, good blood flow, except bladder still 280cc after emptying from 560cc. Cystoscope normal, showing a stricture that I have had for my whole life with one transurethrotomy, but now not small enough to be the cause of slow flow this time. DRE shows enlargment of prostate but no evidence of any other abnormality.
Bupropion has shown some success in treating social phobia[23] and anxiety comorbid with depression,[24] but not panic disorder with agoraphobia.[25] Its anxiolytic potential has been compared to that of sertraline[24] and doxepin.[26} # 23 Emmanuel NP, Brawman-Mintzer O, Morton WA, Book SW, Johnson MR, Lorberbaum JP, Ballenger JC, Lydiard RB. (2000). "Bupropion-SR in treatment of social phobia". Depression and Anxiety 12 (2): 111-3. PMID 11091936.
After a few years my doctor switched me to Sertraline, and for the first time , I began to get tremor, an annoying peri-oral sensation with some mild jaw tremor and severe bruxism. That was 2 years ago. After quitting sertraline, all these went away, but the depression came back, so I tried Moclobemide, ending up with ever more severe side effects and more anxiety as well.
TRAZODONE may interact with SERTRALINE HYDROCHLORIDE (in Zoloft) Both sertraline and trazodone have an effect on serotonin, a chemical that is found in the brain. Excess levels of serotonin in the brain may cause serious or potentially life-threatening side effects. Early signs of this problem include increased confusion and restlessness. Other possible symptoms may include weakness, fever, nausea, and anxiety.
Certain antidepressants, such as fluoxetine (PROZAC), paroxetine (PAXIL) and bupropion (WELLBUTRIN), could reduce the effect of tamoxifen because they are among the most potent CYP2D6 inhibitors. Why are drug interactions a problem for tamoxifen? Tamoxifen is a "prodrug," which means that the drug molecules in the medication itself are inactive; they must be transformed by the body to the active molecules that actually produce the beneficial effects.
I would like to know from you if there is a plausible explanation for what happened to me with sertraline and, even more, with venlaflaxine; if I am a unique case or if cases like mine do exist and can be cured or at any rate faced. I have some dear relatives of mine in New Heaven: is there in the surroundings, like Boston for example, a medical centre, a psychiatrist that has some experience also with the use of "dopaminergici" drugs in cases like mine that I could contact?
Has helped to stabilize mood swings and levels me off from sinking into demotivation, sadness and general depression. However the Zoloft has created ejaculatory problems with me and I hate having to explain this to my wife, who of course blames herself and thinks she is not turning me on. Anyway - a psychiatrist recommended celexa as a possible alternative - but my initial research indicates that there are sexual side effects with celexa.
weight gain, sleeplessness, too sleepy during the day, lethargy, sweating, upset stomach, constipation and on and on and on..., you get the picture. I just decided to give up on them and do something different.
With the first he was on Lexapro, and it worked well. With the second he was on Lexapro, added Bupropion (which didn't work well - made him feel "funny' - so it was discontinued), and then added Trazedone, which worked well in combination with the Lexapro. With triple therapy with Inc., he is currently on Citalopram, and it's working well. He wasn't able to be on Lexapro because it is contraindicated with Incivek. Others on this forum will respond as well to give you some ideas.
My name is Amy and I'm 26 yrs old. I am trying to concieve and I'm presently not on any medications, however I used to take Lexapro and it works the best for me. I feel as though I'm in great need to be on it again but I am aware that the drug falls under a catagory C (to not take when pregnant) I dont want to put myself at harm so I need to know what anti- depresent to take that would not cause any birth defects or harm to the unborn child.
( favorite hidding place) stole the school principle's glass blown paerweight and put it in his backpack. Missing watches and house/car keys, tools/kitchenware,ect. and the 3 yr old can't get to these places. He has a very big problem of lying and disrepect toward his peers. Outbursts in public don't allow us to go out much or even socalize much at all. He has all the toys but must earn them, the computer and TV have vanished for him. Time out in the corner and thinking has no effect on him.

Wellbutrin is the version of bupropion often prescribed and intended to treat depression, while Zyban is used for smoking cessation. (Though some Docs prescribe Wellbutrin to help stop smoking too..) Good luck stopping smoking! I'm sure you will feel better!
I just started see a Chiropractor I haven't seen since 1996 and now recently because my muscles where so tight and had a big knot in my shoulder and up my neck and then going down to my lower shoulder blades. In May, June and July I was overexerting myself in landscaping outside.. I dug out a 10 year arborvitae shrub I dug a 20 foot x 8" deep trench for a walkway Pruned large forsysthia Pruned blackberries.
The new psychiatrist diagnosed this as the failure of my medication (Welbutrin/bupropion) and switched me to Zoloft/sertraline, which turned my digestive tract into a sluice run and caused fecal incontinence. Despite this, I took the Zoloft for 18 months because it was, I felt, better than a bullet to the brain. Although I reported the side effect of the severe diarrhea, the psychiatrist simply pursed her lips and recorded it. I finally had to demand a change of medication.

Milk Thistle for Hepatitis C Many patients use alternative and complementary therapies to manage hepatitis C and resulting liver fibrosis, but most such agents have not been studied in Western clinical trials. Again in the May 2007 issue of Gastroenterology, S.J. Polyak and colleagues reported data from a laboratory study of the anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties of a standardized milk thistle (Silybum marianum) silymarin extract known as MK-001.
