Buprenorphine therapy has not been associated with serum enzyme elevations during treatment, although the populations studied (opioid addiction) often have coexisting chronic liver diseases which complicate such assessments. We present a case of a young multisystem trauma patient in whom adequate analgesia could not be achieved due to buprenorphine treatment before and through the early course of admission. Discontinuation of buprenorphine allowed for appropriate pain management and successful analgesia. I am an advocate of using buprenorphine for longer periods of time than for simple detox. My reason for that stance is that the vast majority of those who use it short-term end up using agonists again-- usually fairly rapidly.

Husband has hep c and has decided to start treatment after he is ok by clinical Pharmacist. The doc said that she makes the decision of whether or not he is good candidate My question is many people at methadone clinics have hep c and continue their methadone treatment saying that it helps. Is this proven medical fact??
Will dr write for meds like methadone to help a patient going through hepatitis C treatment or is this for the Methadone clinics only that you go to and pay?

There is a great deal of emotion around this and other sites over Suboxone; I encourage you to listen primarily to medical professionals, as some of the other opinions have taken on zealotry that is more likely to cloud judgment than buprenorphine!
