Avatar f tn okay went back and did some hunting. this is a quote: "there are many side effects with using pain meds for cats however based on all avail info at this time the ones with the fewest side effects and safest for cats are the following..... Buprenorphine(buprenex) Butorphanol(torbutrol, torbugesic) Tramadol(Ultram) Fentanyl(duragesic) probably the worst one I've read about is metacam, this one can cause blindness among other problems...beware, many Vets still use it!!
Avatar n tn what is the half life of oxycodone in cats? I've heard it works well for pain in cats. I'm trying to get more information on what may help my 12 year old cat. I'd like to have my questions in order before I pay my/her vet?
Avatar m tn SUBOXONE--- HAS anyone that has been on Suboxone ever had the side effect of uncontrollable ITCHING? Scratch till your raw? Or any other side effects that make life more difficult? 1394098 tn?1385960134 I'm finishing week 42 of a 48 week tx. Do sx get worse the longer you are on tx. In the last few weeks, I've forgotten more, ate less, and am tired all of the time. The fatigue is the worst thing. I sleep all of the time. It's hard for the husband because he is alone all the time. Heck even my cats wait outside my door. I don't let them in often because I want to sleep and they want love. I give them a lot when I'm up.
Avatar m tn s just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds. This site has been a great resource and hope someone can tell me what this stuff is like? Appreciate any info you can give me about this med, thanks in advance!!
Avatar m tn This is a very complicated question, and your doctor's actions are a bit confusing. buprenorphine has a 'ceiling' to the effects it creates, and that ceiling has effects about equal to the effects of taking oxycodone 60 mg. If you give buprenorphine to a person who is taking nigh doses of oxycodone, you usually cause withdrawal. I am surprised that you were able to add a buprenorphine patch, while taking oxycodone, without getting withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Wonder if any of you have ever used Magnesium for heart conditions in cats ? My vets are conservative in theor approach, and consultations are limited in time... so I d rather ask you on the Forum before putting my question to him... My cardiologist advised me to take Magnesium when I was very anemic...
Avatar f tn I understand how frustrated you are being in pain all the time. I'm on Fentanyl 50mcg patches they help but like you, when my leg pain begins it doesn't completely help and I have to take muscle relaxers and percocet to manage the pain. I began taking the new Fibromyalgia medicine Savella last night. I'm hoping that it will help. I'm terrified of all the side effects but I have to try it for the sake of the pain.
1476285 tn?1287337784 The interaction appears to be dependent, in part, on the route of administration of buprenorphine. When administered transdermally, buprenorphine peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) were not significantly affected by ketoconazole, a potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitor.
Avatar n tn If Suboxone is injected, naloxone will block the effects of buprenorphine and lead to withdrawal symptoms in a person with an opioid addiction. When administered under the tongue as directed, naloxone will not affect the actions of buprenorphine.
Avatar m tn but around 2pm i start getting flu-like symptoms and they last till i fall asleep. im not sure if they are side effects from the suboxone(it is listed as common side effect) or if im not taking enough suboxone and having wd.but like i said i feel fine in the morning.
Avatar f tn You really have to speak to your psychiatrist and doctor directly about medication interactions especially with anything that is as strong a medication as Suboxone. This is what I could find as per the interaction between Suboxone and Trileptal but all this should be discussed with your psychiatrist who could (and should be doing) a search on the physician's only database all doctors have access to.
2046312 tn?1360379600 Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
Avatar m tn The contents of the pill is two fold. Buprenorphine is in a class of medications called opioid partial agonist-antagonists, and naloxone is in a class of medications called opioid antagonists. Buprenorphine alone and the combination of buprenorphine and naloxone prevent withdrawal symptoms when someone stops taking opioid drugs by producing similar effects to these drugs. You put it under your tounge. Junkies die from attempting to inject this drug.
Avatar m tn Do you have hepatitis A, B, and C? If you do you should discuss the effects of any medication on your other health conditions with your doctor. I did find this about subutux at livertox.nih.gov Hepatotoxicity Buprenorphine therapy has not been associated with serum enzyme elevations during treatment, although the populations studied (opioid addiction) often have coexisting chronic liver diseases which complicate such assessments.
Avatar n tn T from dry skin Then I would try replacing Suboxone with Subutex-- as in my experience, side effects are more common from the naloxone than from the buprenorphine. The effect of Subutex is exactly the same as Suboxone when you take them properly. If that doesn't solve the problem, you are left deciding whether it is practical to take a daily antihistamine to reduce the itching, along with the Subutex or Suboxone... or to taper off buprenorphine and go the 'totally clean' route.
3177469 tn?1344454268 The Effect of Telaprevir on the Pharmacokinetics of Buprenorphine in Volunteers on Stable Buprenorphine/Naloxone Maintenance Therapy This was an open-label, single-sequence trial in HCV-negative volunteers on stable, individualized, buprenorphine maintenance therapy. Telaprevir 750mg every 8 hours was co-administered with buprenorphine/naloxone (4:1 ratio as sublingual tablets) for 7 days with food.
621290 tn?1226720261 The medicines in your profile have a relatively low risk of serious side-effects when used under the normal supervision of your doctor. No interactions have been identified between your drugs and conditions.
Avatar f tn ) lidocaine patch There all really different and they each have pros and cons, as well as a big spectrum of side effects -- for example, in the forums here, I see people mentioning the hell they go through withdrawing from fentanyl. And at the same time, it looks like withdrawing from buprenorphine (or any opiate for that matter) is no walk in the park, either.
Avatar f tn I was recently put on suboxone strips and having bad side effects with them! I have been on suboxone pills before and they helped, no side effects! I read that the films are 30% stronger?could that be a reason? Also, I got scared/tired of the side effects and got my percocet prescription filled and now worried that I might get in trouble? But I have also read that a person can get suboxones filled and their pain meds filled, is this true?
Avatar n tn And I can no longer pet my cats which feels like my hands have been in fiberglass. My bones are so sensitive that it hurts to even sit on a soft chair. It has been a terrible experience which I regret.
306455 tn?1288862071 J, A lot of longer term Sub users have reported (to each other here on the forum) some side effects like numbness in the arms, pain in elbows and hands falling asleep. Have you heard of these side effects and are there others that we don't here about often but are definitely related to long term Sub use? My 2 sisters and myself are all on Sub and have been for over a year. We have all developed this problem as have others I've talked with. Any idea what causes this?
415399 tn?1209504302 and they are always received. Suboxone (buprenorphine) is unique in that it is in the narcotic class (meperidine family) - but in addition to agonist qualities it is self limiting with an antagonist property. After inputting so much of a dose the brain shuts off the receptors and will not uptake any more opiates.
