Buprenorphine rapid detox

Common Questions and Answers about Buprenorphine rapid detox

suboxone

Avatar m tn Definitely talk with your doc. Naltrexone is what they often use in rapid detox which immediately throws you into major withdrawals and it is brutal! I know because I did the rapid detox and would never, ever recommend it. I was also on Naltrexone for 7 or 8 days after the detox and that was a horrid drug for me. After a detox, a decent one, you can use Naltrexone to keep you from going back on opiates.
Avatar m tn Can anyone help me with some knowledge of this medication????? I have a relative who's suffered badly for years and tried every clinic and therapy and medication and nothing helped till now. He's lately been prescribed this buprenorphine and he swears it's just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds.
Avatar m tn and start my treatment detox at home. i do have a gp doctor.and i think he can do the buprenorphine program.
Avatar f tn Overall it does not work the way you want it to work, when it wears off your back to square 1. Rapid detox is much better because at least it strips away substances off your receptors, the ibogaine simply gives you bad experience.
Avatar f tn The only time I would recommend using Suboxone or buprenorphine for detox is for people who are entering a long-term residential treatment center, because at least then there is a chance-- albeit a small one-- for sustained sobriety. I do not see buprenorphine as a 'replacement.' I will leave you to search out my articles scattered all over the web, describing why in great detail.

Avatar m tn No, Temgesic is way, way weaker than sub. One sub is equal to 40 or 20 Temgesic ( temgesic is .2 or .4 MG Buprenorphine a sub is 8 MG) Also Temgesic is just Buprenorphine, Suboxone is Buprenorphine and Naloxone, however the naloxone doesn't really do anything in subs so idk why they even put it in there.
1472850 tn?1290125172 I'm the wife. The first 3 weeks of Wolf's detox were the 9th circle of hell. For both of us. I'm thankful that part of recovery is over.
Avatar m tn How can I get rid of buprenorphine? I've been on it for the last twelve years. I've tried tapering, but whether I take 16 or 2 mgs, the withdrawal is just as bad... Thank you for your answers.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone out there who has tried the rapid detox either under anesthesia, or another type of rapid detox (the coleman institute), where they don't put you under, but it still involves the naltrexone implant? I'm thinking about trying this once I get down to a lower dose but I've read so many mixed reviews about someone who knew someone, etc. Is there anyone who has personal experience with rapid detox from methadone who can shed some light on this procedure for me?
Avatar f tn Suboxone is the brand name for a medication consisting of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a thebaine derivative with powerful analgesia approximately 20-40x more potent than morphine. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist and antagonist of the opioid receptors in the central nervous system which means  when the its molecule binds to a receptor , it will transduce only a partial response in contrast to a full agonist such as morphine.
1401943 tn?1305279043 Do you know of any place that will accept methadone detoxs? Have you heard of Rapid detox and what do you think? I am 26years old and have a 3 and 1/2 year old son. I want another child but dont want to be on methadone! i am so depressed with myself that i was stupid enough to use in the first place to get myself in this situation! i want to be able to wake up everyday not sick and live a "normal" life!
1405767 tn?1282634598 The patients were enrolled in a 2-week run-in phase, during which time they converted to transdermal buprenorphine or a placebo patch. Rescue analgesia with buprenorphine sublingual tablets 0.2 mg was allowed as needed. The researchers defined response as a mean pain intensity reduction of 5 points on a 10-point scale and a mean daily need for two or fewer buprenorphine sublingual tablets.
Avatar m tn u say u want to help so tell me how to detox off 2mg of buprenorphine PLEASE
Avatar m tn Norspam is known in the states as buprenorphine. Buprenorphine will work to stop withdrawals. It does so because it's an extremely powerful opiate. Most of us here would consider it a 'last resort' for opiate dependence and addiction. It has a history of being extremely hard to get off of. In fact, if you can't maintain a taper schedule it can be nearly impossible to stop using. People here have stopped while on high doses but it's the exception not the rule.
Avatar f tn Suboxone contains buprenorphine, an opiate that is a partial agonist at the receptor and that has been around for over 30 years. If you read any 'goodman and gilman' (the bible of pharmacology) you will read that 'buprenorphine is less addictive than other opiates because of the partial agonist effects'. But for anyone addicted to opiates, even codeine is very addictive!
Avatar f tn Thanks Jaybay! I did know about the actions and uses of buprenorphine and .... and the fact that Suboxone has the additional naloxone component to prevent injection abuse. I didn't know that Fentanyl could "knock bupe right off its pins." You're right, there must be more but I can't even find at you are saying about Fentanyl on line.
Avatar f tn Even an expensive rapid detox will not solve the major problem. And that is most likely psychological to a great extent. You are at that point where you are simply chasing the dragon quite often. Its a point of diminishing returns, for sure. Many show up here for a few weeks - and many of those people come back and relate how they messed up and became addicted yet again. There is no rapid magic fix.....sorry, it just doesnt happen with this issue. Just quiting the narcotics is the easy part....
Avatar m tn So if you or anyone you know has tried Rapid Detox any input would be greatly appreciated. *One of my best friends did it back in the mid `90's but was on an extreamly high dose 100+mg and woke up half way through! Not Good, but completely different circumstances. Cheers.
Avatar f tn rapid detox has recently come under fire due to some facilities being unregulated and not adhering to safety measures. The Waismann Method is vastly different than any other rapid detox treatments because of their high safety protocols. 1) they perform in-patient in the ICU of a JCAHO accredited full service hospital.
Avatar m tn Getting off drugs and staying clean is 95% of the program. Rapid detox does not cure the mental aspect of this disease. Rapid detox from what Ive learned from this site is also very expensive, controversial and not as effective. You have to do the work-work the program or some program involving aftercare to maintain sobriety. I work my program every day. I have learned and come to terms with my addiction and that its a lifelong battle.
Avatar n tn but my problem with rapid detox is that opiate dependence is a life-long problem, and rapid detox addresses the easiest part of addiction- getting through the physical withdrawal. Many people, particularly those in early stages of addiction, think that if they can only get through withdrawal all will be well... but those in late addiction will attest that the physical withdrawal is not the biggest problem.
