3149841 tn?1344817005 Did you ever make it to an NA meeting? Have you tried to use it orally? Brother, you know what to do. Get every bit of strength you have, and do it. I'm worried about you man. As you know, I understand the insanity of where you live, but you can't go on much longer like this. Private message me any time, I think of you and pray for you often. Glad you are still trying.

Avatar m tn cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar f tn Be very careful because it is a BIG TIME Money making thing right now..It will help you to get off the other meds but you have to work a program too..This is so you can understand and learn all you can about addiction. I sure wish you the best & I am happy that you are in a controlled environment with Drs & Nurses around if I got this right..Take good care and learn all you can about Addiction in a more Scientific way too..Like Addiction being a Brain Disease.
Avatar f tn Due a lack of controlled study data demonstrating the safety of buprenorphine for use by pregnant women, the FDA has not yet approved buprenorphine for use by pregnant women unless the benefits of its use outweigh the potential harms of non use. When doctors choose to prescribe buprenorphine to pregnant women, they will customarily prescribe Subutex (buprenorphine only) rather than Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone), to reduce the risks of precipitated withdrawal on the fetus.
Avatar n tn i was wondering if anyone has heard of people using suboxone (not subutex) and getting high using it I.V. i know that most of the stuff i've read says it will send you into withdrawal but i've also talked to people who liked it ''' i guess what i'm wondering is whats the use of using it if you can use it I.V.
199177 tn?1490498534 I don't want to get into a "cut and paste" from web-sites contest here........however if I read this correctly it very definitely defines how to MIS USE Suboxone to reach a "high" and how NOT to use as it was intended, and this posting is a benefit to others how?? There are other web sites IE FDA that will display different data, as will many other sources of information.
Avatar f tn The more progressive doctors will allow an opioid-addicted mother on buprenorphine to continue to take buprenorphine while breast feeding, as doing so will effectively taper the infant off opioids over time. Whenever a woman on opioids breast feeds, the infant receives a tiny fraction of what the mother is on, and much of that is broken down by the infant liver before reaching the general circulation.
Avatar f tn Tuck - the way buprenorphine works is that it latches on very strongly to some, but not all, opiate receptors in the brain but not with a perfect fit like other opiates. I know of only one other opiate that will knock bupe right off its pins (I'm sure there are others) and take its place and that's fentanyl. That gives it both partial agonist and partial antagonist qualities.
Avatar n tn I found this for you, Buprenorphine (suboxone) and naloxone is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether buprenorphine and naloxone will be harmful to an unborn baby. Use of buprenorphine and naloxone during pregnancy may cause withdrawal symptoms in a newborn baby. Do not take buprenorphine and naloxone if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.
1506051 tn?1317731817 5 years and cannot tell you how good it feels to be free! I tried twice before to get off myself and failed miserably (literally and figureatively). This time I'm done. I slowly went from 16mg. daily to 3mg. then 0. The Doc gave me Clonodine, Muscle Relaxers and Sleeping Rx's all of which you'll likely need. Bupe w/d is very different for everyone. I started feeling somewhat Human after around 26 days, and I'm pretty much relatively "Normal" now.
Avatar f tn They will let you to see a doctor to get help. Sounds to me like you are addicted to sub. it can happen if you get them on the street. This med is like a narcotic you need to lower the dose 5mg then taper off. There is another way to go its called Naltrexone implant this can keep you from physical and psychological cravings. Hope you find help just don't quit go to NA they will help you. You can do it.
Avatar n tn tapering to as low as you can go works for moet there is no way of avoiding all withdrawals but you can miminmis them by tapering sub is a funny drug we have had member come off 2mg and have little to no withdrawals and others thate it down to crumbs and go threw 2 weeks of hell you wont know till you jump but most successful story's taper as low as you can b/4 jumping look up the thomas resipe on the low right of this page and have the stuff ready good luck and God bless......
Avatar f tn To determine how long the drug is likely to stay in your system after your last dose, it is necessary to consider Suboxone’s half-life, or more specifically, the half-lives of its active ingredients buprenorphine and naloxone. The half-life of buprenorphine is an estimated 37 hours, which is considered extremely long. It takes your body nearly 2 full days to excrete just 50% of the buprenorphine within a Suboxone dose.
414508 tn?1222627690 no, i will pm her now, this has been such a crazy day, i cannot think straight at all, everything is a total blurr, please keep the info coming, i am writing it down as i get it.
1578611 tn?1296379834 HI i agree with the above posters your going to wind up on a merry go round and you eally dont want to go from a half antagonist to a full antagonist to get off it it would be counter productive besides the withdrawals from methadone are a lot more sever then sub....
Avatar f tn I to did a quick taper of methadone 8 days starting at 30mg it worked for me would I advise it being used no but I also did it through a OPT detox center were I was monitored everyday by the dr and the nurse along with the social workers that I had to see. Avatar f tn Suboxone contains the active medication buprenorphine. There is a great deal of emotion around this and other sites over Suboxone; I encourage you to listen primarily to medical professionals, as some of the other opinions have taken on zealotry that is more likely to cloud judgment than buprenorphine! Realize first that Suboxone contains nothing new; the two medications have been used by doctors for over 30 years.
Avatar m tn s not such an easy task to be approved to prescribe Buprenorphine and follow all the requirements associated with it. Buprenorphine prescribing comes with great responsibility and increased risk over that of other opiates. That's my opinion. I've been here since 2008 and have heard many similar situations to yours. Sadly many Chronic Pain patients have been forced to change from whats been effective for them -Buprenorphine - to an untried and sometimes not so effective opiate.
Avatar f tn It isn’t that it is too complicated—I blame doctors’ relative lack of interest in treating drug addicts for a lack of desire to learn about the medication and how to use it. Shame on us.
Avatar n tn i have taken the buprenorphine tablets for a few years before but my prescription got stopped so i opted for the above tablets for the time being whilst im on the waiting list to go back on the buprenorphine.does anyone know how long i have to stop taking the deydrocodeine and tramadol for before i can start taking the buprenorphine again please.
Avatar f tn However many individuals who start using it to treat their addiction, become addicted to Suboxone itself. If you want to find a doctor who prescribes Suboxone to treat opioid addiction all you have to do is go on Suboxone.com website to locate one. I personally find that this method is just trading one addiction for another in many cases (some statistics show as high as 40-45%). I suggest you take some time and read my blogs by clicking on my names for more options and info.
Avatar f tn I know you are trying to do the right thing, but please talk to your doctor. It's unfair to your baby not to. If you're honest with your doctor and stay on the plan your baby will be ok and you won't have the fear of him or her being taken away! It's when you aren't honest that things get hairy. I'm sure you're scared. Do the right thing and keep us updated.
Avatar f tn Some people will take a couple doses of Suboxone and then stop, and that will blunt withdrawal a bit. But the non-linear dose-response relationship makes it a hard med to use for a taper. It is also too potent to taper well; if taken efficiently, a quarter of a tablet has about the same opiate potency as a whole tablet, so it is hard to taper by taking smaller and smaller pieces.
Avatar n tn Buprenorphine is an effective medication for opiate addiction which does not require daily or weekly visits to a clinic. Buprenorphine blocks the effects of other opiates; it eliminates cravings and prevents withdrawal symptoms such as pain and nausea. Patients can be maintained on buprenorphine or go through detoxification. Subutex and Suboxone are the brand names under which buprenorphine is being marketed for the treatment of opiate dependence.
