Subutex, which is composed of only buprenorphine, and Suboxone, which is a combination of Buprenorphine and Naloxone. It's my understanding that a physician requires even more education when ordering either of these drugs than the usual opiate education. The medical documentation required is even more stringent. Indeed it's now even more difficult to find a physician that will order Buprenorphine. The DEA is breathing down their necks.
My relative isn't seeking recovery or anything to do with meds, but for years has went to the mayo clinic and many others to try and find some kind of relief from debilitating pain. For a while they thought he had fibromyalgia, now he has some new diagnosis, but has lived in terrible pain 24/7 for years. He's at the point where the pain absolutely constrols his every thought and is desperate for relief.
I did find a doctor who does use Buprenorphine for pain patients, but I have to go through a pain clinic to see him. He is an Anesthesiologist. Apparently there are only 2-3 docs in Minnesota who are prescribing it.
re thinking of the problems with using Suboxone rather than Subutex for pain management. The active ingredient in both of them is buprenorphine, a partial agonist synthetic opiate. Suboxone also contains naloxone which is there as a deterrent to abuse like crushing and injecting the pill. Without the naloxone present, you have no worries about your doctors needing to increase narcotics in an emergency or post-op situation.
ve read on holistic info sites that BUPRENORPHINE is the best and SAFEST pain med for cats....I know thats the one my Vet uses too.

Suboxone contains the active medication buprenorphine. There is a great deal of emotion around this and other sites over Suboxone; I encourage you to listen primarily to medical professionals, as some of the other opinions have taken on zealotry that is more likely to cloud judgment than buprenorphine!
Realize first that Suboxone contains nothing new; the two medications have been used by doctors for over 30 years.
i suffer from chronic pain ive been on narcotics for 10 years my new dr says he has patients that take suboxone for pain and it helps there pain but they dont get the high, i dont care about the high i want my pain controlled,does anyone know if suboxone really works on pain im scared to try something new.even though the dr sas it works id rather hear it from someone who takes it. i currently take oxycodone30 and methadone 10 for my pain.
I will put this into perspective from my OWN experience ONLY. I had a DUII 7 years ago, and as a result, was asked to go to 30 day inpatient treatment as a condition of my sentencing. I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain.Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
When I saw my pain management consultant a few months ago he put me on Buprenorphine Transdermal Patches, 10mg. ! patch to be put on for 7 days. This is in addition to the Oxycontin. The patch has recently been increased to 20mg.
I have recently started reducing the Oxycontin in the view of coming off it totally. I have so far reduced it by 10mg. My Dr hase prescibed me Oxynorm 5mg, once a day, incase I experience withdrawal symptoms.

why cant i stay off the methadone for 3 days and than get a script for buprenorphine generic .and start my treatment detox at home. i do have a gp doctor.and i think he can do the buprenorphine program.
I have had experience with Suboxone (buprenorphine) for the past 11 years. Well, what they would prescribe was actually called Buprenex back then and it came in liquid form in vials and was prescribed along with a ten pack of syringes. It has since become more popular for addiction specialists to prescribe Suboxone due to the fact that it is nearly impossible to abuse. This comes from the Naloxone (NarCan) that they added to the Buprenorphine so that it is less likely to be abused.
Have a bad headache and no pain meds at home. Have a little of the Buprenorphine hcl left from when my cat was neutered. It was given to him orally at a dose of 0.3cc. I looked it up and it looks like a "human" drug also, but am wondering if I am able to take this.

Buprophen?? Is it anything like Ibuprofen?? I have never heard of it. Do want to hear about it know too.
