Buprenorphine cats dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Buprenorphine cats dosage

suboxone

Avatar f tn ve read on holistic info sites that BUPRENORPHINE is the best and SAFEST pain med for cats....I know thats the one my Vet uses too. Is this for long term use?
Avatar f tn Tonight he seemed to be in pain , restless, heavy breathing (had been previously diagnosed with kidney stone, but had no longer shown symptoms recently) and I injected him with 0,15 ml Buprenorphine. Seems quieter now, breathing almost normally. The dosage my vet had prepared was 0,3, but my cat has lost weight in the meantime, so I injected half the syringe only. How long should I wait for the Darbepoietin injection? Are these two drugs compatible?
Avatar n tn Oxycodone is not something recommended for cats that I know of, there are better opiates that are better tolerated especially for cats, the one I know is prescribed most often is Buprenorphine(buprenex). Please be sure to discuss this drug and the dosage with your Vet. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?
2046312 tn?1360379600 Two of the patients had been on their antiretroviral regimen for several months and reported doped-up feeling, dizziness, and feeling high following initiation of buprenorphine 8 mg/day. The dosage was reduced to 8 mg every other day. One was maintained on this dosage while the other had dosage increased up to 12 mg/day, whereupon he developed hypersomnolence but managed to maintain that dosage.

Avatar m tn Mr. Fly1234: First, I'd like to congratulate you on tapering down your Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) maintenance dose. From other patients' experiences, decreasing the dose and discontinuing buprenorphine are not easy tasks for many. Under federal law, DATA 2000 or Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000, only qualified physicians can prescribe and treat opioid addiction with controlled narcotics medications, such as buprenorphine products (Suboxone, Subutex or generic alternatives).
Avatar m tn I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar f tn If I ever deceided to go back on a pain medication, as I am a chronic pain patient would this affect my receptors/tolerance etc?. Would my brain need the same dosage it was on prior to the sub or need more? I may have an upcoming surgery that will require analgesia and need to know what I am up against. My sub doctor really is not well informed. A very nice person,,, just not with the program so to speak.
Avatar f tn Pharmacologic response to buprenorphine should be monitored more closely whenever a CYP450 3A4 inducer is added to or withdrawn from therapy, and the buprenorphine dosage adjusted as necessary. Ambulatory patients should be made aware of the possibility of additive effects (e.g., drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion) when taking other CNS-active drugs and counseled to avoid activities requiring mental alertness until they know how these agents affect them.
Avatar f tn Tramadol may cause life-threatening addiction and withdrawal symptoms in a newborn.
Avatar n tn I've been on buprenorphine for a few years. Recently, I went off the reservation, so to speak, for a little too long with morphine. I originally switched from Methadone to bupe, and I was sick for three days making the transition. My question is: How much time will I need to transition back from morphine to buprenorphine? I imagine it won't be as long as from Methadone. Can I do it with Suboxone, or will I need Subutex?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am taking Subutex. I used to take Suboxone but got switched over due to my pregnancy. I've been on it this time for a year and a half. I started at 16 mgs. and am down to 4 mgs. and am trying to get down from there. I am a little shocked at your dosage - may I ask why you've been on such a high dosage for so long? Was it a personal choice, or the choice of your doctor, hence the new doctor? I am not judging at all, just curious about your situation.
Avatar f tn Subutex is the brand name of buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is a thebaine derivative with powerful analgesia approximately 20-40x more potent than morphine. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist and antagonist of the opioid receptors in the central nervous system which means that when its molecule binds to a receptor, it will transduce only a partial response in contrast to a full agonist such as morphine.
Avatar m tn Suboxone is a combination of Buprenorphine and Naloxone, which is added in with the Buprenorphine an effort to prevent people from abusing it. I've had a much easier time tapering off Suboxone, and with more success, than I was ever able to Oxycontin, but did it at a much slower pace from a much lower dose than he's talking about. If your doctor is going to be managing it your questions about how much you should start at and for how long is between the two of you.
Avatar n tn I have been on every kind of pain pill, patch, Actiq suckers, etc. Most recently on the 2 mg/sublingual Buprenorphine (w/o narcan) and also the 20mcg patch. Been on this for 4-5 yrs now. Started my taper off these two back last July and am still suffering so much. I cut pain patch in 4 pieces and put on the 1/4 patch piece every 7-10 days. Patch works longer than 7, days just so you know. Docs say change every 7 days but keep it on longer. Maybe 10 days plus.
Avatar f tn I am in medical hospital and they want me to detox off methadone with help of buprenorphine does anyone know about this drug or used it . I am scared and need feedback ASAP.
Avatar m tn Can anyone help me with some knowledge of this medication????? I have a relative who's suffered badly for years and tried every clinic and therapy and medication and nothing helped till now. He's lately been prescribed this buprenorphine and he swears it's just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds.
Avatar f tn Not trying to discourage you just be careful on what dosage you start out on. So far after the little amt I have taken I have no cravings or W/D's. So Far..........
Avatar n tn I am almost absolutely sure Frontline is the same ingredients for dogs and cats, and the only different thing would be the dosage for the size of the dog or cat. (Not all flea treatments are, but I think Frontline is) Please do call your vet and verify this though.
1474611 tn?1416632958 Another thing to consider is making sure the dosage was correct. Often they are weight dosed, even for cats, which also are kitten vs. adult cat dosed. If the dosage was too much, that could have caused irritation. Lastly, if the medication was a "cheap" product like Hertz and similar...these products often have other ingredients that tend to be irritants. Also, they often aren't that effective (from what I've seen from clients who have tried them).
Avatar n tn ok i found were the new post is and thanx for helping me
