Avatar m tn Have been on injectable Buprenex for 15 years for a chronic disease that causes horrible pain. I am much better now and really don't need it and could take something milder if I take anything. Problem is how do you get off this stuff? Mentioned it to the pain doc and they just blew me off! They would rather have an addict than help you get off the junk. I have tried cold turkey......that doesn't work, its awful! Anybody know how to wean this stuff?

434196 tn?1206385870 they are posted out of spite, and i already checked the stories out...they are bogus. they were written about buprenex which is the injectable form of buprenorphine and they died because they injected it with sedatives...the story was written in 2002 before doctors were even allowed to prescribe suboxone or subutex...bogus story.... just really go as low and as slow as you can...do not rush it... i am sending you a private message, watch for it...
Avatar n tn Suboxone is prescribed for treatment of severe opiate addiction. It contains buprenorphine and naloxone - otherwise known as NarcAn. It doesn't get you high and it's dangerous. It will block the high of opiates or throw you into withdrawl if you are dependent. The 8mg pills are orange hexagons. Seriously dude, don't take it, you won't like it.
Avatar m tn Suboxone is buprenorphine with naloxone which basicly prevents people from shooting it up. The blocking part of sub is just that the buprenorphine has a stronger bind to the opiate receptors and blocks most doses of opiates. It is also only a partial agonist, compared to methadone, oxy's, hyrdro's, all being full agonist opiates. Both methadone and sub are used as replacement therapy tools in order to stay away from other opiates.
Avatar m tn After going cold turkey for 23 days and resetting the clock by using Buprenex to try quiet the withdrawls. Got me back on Buprenex. That was the worse thing, that was in January and I still have the trauma from that w/d session. But I kept on reading. I ran across an article here on a guy who used Methadone to get off his OXY habit as I recall. He used minimal doses for three or 4 days and was succesfull at detox. Stated how he did not feel so good while doing It, but that he did feel fine.
Avatar f tn I was taking at least 30 mg per day (7.5 x 4). I went off of vicodin succesfully using buprenorphine for a year. Finally came off of the bupe cold turkey (HELL). After a few months I began dabbling in vicodin again here and there.... for whatever reason at the very lowest dose, 5mg. I am having this major reaction. This is what happens, for example: I took 5mg of vicodin at 12noon. Went about my day, caught a slight buzz, ate and drank normally all day and feel fine.
Avatar n tn Oxycodone is not something recommended for cats that I know of, there are better opiates that are better tolerated especially for cats, the one I know is prescribed most often is Buprenorphine(buprenex). Please be sure to discuss this drug and the dosage with your Vet. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?
1141981 tn?1261076243 Note that aside from Subutex® and Suboxone®, other forms of buprenorphine (e.g., Buprenex®) are not approved for treatment of opioid addiction. The FDA approval of these buprenorphine formulations does not affect the status of other medication-assisted opioid addiction treatments, such as methadone and LAAM (levo-alpha-acetyl-methadol).
Avatar f tn Yesterday I went in to have my 2nd round of injections on my neck and without warning my dr changed my medicine from the 90 10mg hydrocodone per month to Buprenorphine 5mcg transdermal patches 1 per week for 30 days. I'm extremely nervous that this is not going to help me a d a little shell shocked to say the least. I know over the past year and a half I have developed somewhat of a tolerance for the hydrocodone so how is this new .medicine going to affect me?
286124 tn?1214938528 Not saying without knowing detials what you could do at this point, but you could get into treatment or look at Buprenex to finish this out. Buprenex will still help you. With Buprenex take less as you can for the shortest period possible or wind up with a bigger addiction problem. Hope this all is what you need for information. God Bless, keep trying or retrying!
Avatar m tn I have heard in the forum about the drugs that help such as clonidine, buprenorphine and buprenex. Can anyone reccommend or tell me your experiences? All I know is I have to get off of this stuff before it ruins my life and my family. I am not even sure what it feels like to feel normal...it has been so long!

Avatar n tn She was given 0.30 cc Rimadyl 0.80 cc Buprenex 2.00mg Dexamethasone 1.50cc Amoxicillin. I questioned the vet about this because of the Buprenex with a head injury and more pain meds when she had not even woken up at any time before she passed. I hate to say it but I was kind of brushed off as a greiving pet owner that was over reacting but the numbers seem high to me? Is this a reasonable amount of narcotic or am I just overthinking it.
Avatar f tn I am in medical hospital and they want me to detox off methadone with help of buprenorphine does anyone know about this drug or used it . I am scared and need feedback ASAP.
Avatar m tn Can anyone help me with some knowledge of this medication????? I have a relative who's suffered badly for years and tried every clinic and therapy and medication and nothing helped till now. He's lately been prescribed this buprenorphine and he swears it's just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds.
Avatar m tn Buprenorphine is the active ingredient in Suboxone, Subutex, and Buprenex. Suboxone has a added ingredient called Naloxone. This was added to prevent abuse, and the Naloxone in Suboxone will allegedly cause immediate withdrawal if the Suboxone is injected or possibly snorted.
Avatar n tn Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Buprenorphine is similar to other opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin however, it produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
Avatar f tn The flip side of all of this is that tolerance reaches a maximum at about 4 mg of buprenorphine, and further increase in dose of buprenorphine does not cause substantial increase in tolerance. Tolerance and withdrawal are two sides of the same coin; the lack of withdrawal going from 32 to 8 mg of buprenorphine is consistent with no significant change in tolerance across that range. So in my opinion, being on 32 vs 4 mg of Suboxone doesn't raise your tolerance.
Avatar n tn I discovered Buprenex through a stroke of fate while I was in college. I had a bad case of shingles, so I was prescribed Norco. But, as always, I would start at a manageable dosage, then before I knew it, I was popping 20-24 of those yellow monsters a day. Back to my story. On a late Friday afternoon, I discovered that by Saturday, I would be totally out of Norcos. I was beyond frantic. I combed the yellow pages for a treatment center (thinking, 'sure-it's 3:30 on a Friday.
