Bumps on scalp headache

Common Questions and Answers about Bumps on scalp headache

bumps

In the past two days, red bumps have appeared in an area the size of a dime on the upper right rear of my scalp. They appear to be spreading and are slightly tender, sore to the touch. On the second day I am experiencing occasional stabs of pain from the area, similar to headache pains and short in duration. Rash, insect bite, serious?
Dear Dr., I've had 2 bumps in near proximity to one another on the top of my scalp for several years. Recently, I believe one of the bumps has grown larger, is presently about the size of an M&M. I am not experiencing any pain or hair loss. Are these bumps cysts? Is there any need to have them removed?
Hi, Painful sores, blisters, or bumps that develop on the scalp may be caused by Infection of the hair shafts (folliculitis) or the skin (such as impetigo). An allergic skin reaction (contact dermatitis) can also cause it. Since you already have an allergic predisposition it could very well be this. Bacterial infection of the sinuses could cause the lymph nodes to enlarge.THe treatment for folliculitis is local application of anti-bacterial cream like mupirocin.
Sometimes when I'm not stressed or upset, there are spots on my scalp that hurt. Not a headache. My scalp just hurts for a few minutes or so. Sometimes it moves to another spot. I'm concerned because my mother complained about the same things years ago and now has dementia. Am I crazy?
It feels just like it does when your pony tail is to tight only more intense. I have a headache as well and my scalp is extremely tender to the touch. There is no redness or bumps. I did just have a baby 4 months ago and just quit breastfeeding not to long ago which means I am now off my prenatal vitamins. I have been loosing my hair which I believe is to be just the excess hair I gained when I was pregnant.
I too have had a tender scalp for about 3 months. It's been off and on. I usually notice it when I brush my hair. The tenderness is toward the right side of the crown and to theright of the top of my head. I take Ibuprophen to help, but it seems like it comes back. I'm 53 years old and don't do pony tails since I have short hair. I use Suave shampoo and Suave conditioner. I also use Suave hairspray. I don't feel any bumps; just the tenderness. It really bothers me. Can you help me?
I've never heard of sunct headaches. But I have three types of migraine. I also get "strange" headaches with bumps that come up somewhere on my head/scalp without diagnosis. Thanks for the info. I will look it up. Not that I want to have that kind of headache... but maybe I have that type too....
The past few years, I don't have an outbreak on my lip or mucus membranes, but instead have a debiltating headache that lasts for three days. It is always the same, on one side of my head. It feels like a knife has been inserted under my occipital ridge, goes through my brain and ends behind my eye. It is constant and no pain medicine helps. (if I get a common headache, Excedrine will alieviate it quickly) Even narcotics won't relieve the pain.
Hello, I have had these bumps under my scalp for years, cannot even remember how long I have had them. They move back and forth when I put my fingers on them, they get a tiny bit bigger every year and seem to be migrating to the top of my head.

Posted by Blake on July 29, 1999 at 15:45:10 Ten days ago I noticed a bump on my scalp that was very tender. Since then two other bumps have appeared. Now the bumps also have small puss pockets all over the top of each bump. On the sixth day following the discovery of these bumps I started a high fever and severe neck, back pain accompanied by a headache. The headache lasted for four days. The back pain still exists and I am also fatigued. I at first suspected a spider or tick bite.
I have shoulder, neck, jaw, face, eye and scalp pain (not a throbbing headache, per se), naseau, light and noise sensitivity. This conditions goes on for days -- sometimes shifts sides from right to left. I also experience the lightheadedness and dizziness that you speak of, alot of pressure behind the eyes. I have had an MRI of my spine which showed slightly bulging discs. I also have been to doctors who cannot diagnose what's going on.
I have been having some scalp pain on the right side of my head above my ear and down the back of my head. The pain is not major but is pretty constant and my scalp hurts to the touch. It feels like someone has pulled my hair very hard. Does anyone know what would be the cause.
I had a shooting pain in the back left portion of my head. It was on and off for several years. I also noticed that I would get bumps on my scalp that would bleed if I picked them off. I thought these were unrelated issues, but I tried a new shampoo. I went and got a bottle of Denorex shampoo (with Salicylic Acid as the active ingredient). I used that everyday for about 3 months and then scaled back to 3-4 times a week.
I started in 6th grade, I am a 26 year old female. I have 5-9 scalp I pick at a time on my scalp. I have long black hair and cant wear certain styles because my problem will be seen and people would laugh or judge me. I started med school last year, and the people around me everyday are medically smart and are starting to pick up that my fingers are in my hair pulling out scabs.

2/5 will be two weeks since finishing the prescription and I have large, itchy red rashes on both arms, both legs, chest, face, ears and scalp. I just can't get a break on this stuff...really feel like I haven't received fully competent care over the last year but sure have spent a ton of money. **The reason I wrote all of this is because I took Clomid(sp) Dec. 22nd for 5 days then got a hormone shot Dec. 31.
It is very painful to light touch but there is no notable redness or open sore on the scalp. Today, she noticed two more small bumps with similar symptoms on both sides of the lower skull. She has had frequent headaches and migraine, but it seems like she has been getting the headache symptoms almost everyday these days. Should she go get a CT scan or MRI?
It's only on the back of my scalp, the front-top of my scalp is smooth. I have looked at the Cutis Verticis Gyrata on wikipedia. Not much help. I use to play basketball year round in High School, had 8 percent body fat weighing 179lbs, but I've stopped since then. I went to college, ate top ramen, mac and cheese like the fellow in the other comment. It would be interesting to see what we all have in common besides these wrinkles.
Wow, we all have the same issue so it has to be something the doctors can figure out. Small bumps on the foot that are filled with clear liquid, itch when it's filled, but okay after you pop them or they pop alone and they reoccur. There has to be a reason why this is happening, maybe they should test the liquid in the bump to see what they come up with. It can't be as cut and dry as a cream that doesn't really work. That means it's still undiagnosed. Wow a doctor needs to help.
People have been getting bumps on the head for thousands of years before they invented the MRI. As long as there is no nausea, you will probably be O.K. Nausea signifies brain swelling. If you experience anything really out of the ordinary don't hesitate to go to an ER, but most likely things will be O.K. Take Ibuprufin (Motrin) , which is a mild anti-inflammatory.
I'm not a doctor, just to let you know, but I get a similar problem with bumps like acne on my temples accompanied by a headache and sometimes high bloodpressure. When the bumps go away eventually, and they may take months, they pit and scar. I also have hair extending down from my hairline to the eyebrows over my temples, not bad bad, but getting bad. I've also had a head injury in 1989, was stabbed in the right temple and got blood poisoning from improper treatment.
when he felt it he asked me if i had little bumps or been scratching my head. when i said yes. he said that when you have bumps on your head and you scratch them, that you can flare up lymph nodes. so he gave me antibiotocs to take ,a nd a shampoo for my head. he said if the itching stops it should help the lymph nodes go down... so i guess we will see. I have also expereinced a bit of numbness... anyone else?
5 days after my rash initially start i had a really big red, painful, NONoozing rash on the skin between my breasts, my stomach, and my throat area. i still had the pimply bumps on my back and arms, but they weren't itchy. i went into urgent care to see a general doctor, who couldn't identify what caused my rash. she said that was most likely contact dermatitis since it was in a localized area. i explained to her that it was a rash that seemed to be spreading but she didn't say anything.
I do not see anything visible as far as bites, but I always find bumps almost like insect bites in my scalp, usually the back of the head. This always occurs when the condition is very bad. I have had relatives experience the same symptoms when they sleep at my home. I have come to the conclusion that this is a type of mite/parasite that no one is familiar with in the U.S. If someone is having the same symptoms and has found the problem, please let me know.
It went away the next morning when I woke up but then a day later I got that same bump on two other areas on my face. As I said before it has been around two weeks and the bumps come and go, often lasting for 1-2 hours but it is at very prominent areas on my face and just looks unsightly. Sometimes I get them when I wake up in the morning, sometimes when I've just been lying on the floor in my room and sometimes it just randomly starts itching throughout the day.
