In the past two days, red bumps have appeared in an area the size of a dime on the upper right rear of my scalp. They appear to be spreading and are slightly tender, sore to the touch. on the second day I am experiencing occasional stabs of pain from the area, similar to headache pains and short in duration. Rash, insect bite, serious?

Dear Dr., I've had 2 bumps in near proximity to one another on the top of my scalp for several years. Recently, I believe one of the bumps has grown larger, is presently about the size of an M&M. I am not experiencing any pain or hair loss. Are these bumps cysts? Is there any need to have them removed?

I started getting hard bumps on my scalp several years ago. The feel like really hard scabs and are painful to the touch. They are about the circumfrence of the tip of my index finger. I have picked the scab off before and it leaves a shallow hole in my scalp, but doesn't really bleed. There is some sort of clear liquid that does not smell. When the skin grows back I have a small bald spot for a bit until my hair grows back.

I have had itchy spots before when I used certain hair products but I have not been using any. it is driving me crazy. I had a little bit of dandruff when this started but that has cleared up. Hi, This could be due to folliculitis. you should consult your doctor to rule out the possible causes of your symptoms including hypothyroidism, vitamin deficiencies, adrenal insufficiency, etc. Folliculitis reflects infections around the hair follicles, most often involving the sebaceous gland. The bacteria that cause these infections reside on the skin.
Of late I have developed a lot of rash on my scalp which is like littel bumps and is terrible itchy. if I do scratch then it turns painful. Could it be becasue of the diabetes or is it some other allerge. I color my hair.
