Common Questions and Answers about Bumps on legs itchy

bumps

Hello, I have had this thing with my legs where they get really itchy in one particular spot and when I scratch it, I get lots of little bumps in that area. It will spread if I keep scratching and the bumps vary in size from maybe about 2 millimeters to a whole centimeter. They will normally go away a few hours later if I stop scratching and I don't get it anywhere else on my body. This happens from time to time but I think lately it's been happening more often.
For as long as I can remember I've had these little tiny itchy bumps on my legs. They are little buggers, and almost like acne. Some days they aren't around... some days they drive me insane. They aren't anywhere near my genitals but from my ankle to about 3/4ths up my legs. On both actually. They aren't grouped up like herpes... and I can't seem to find anything to match whats going on.... Its almost like Im allergic to cotton.
Hello, What you are having is shaving bumps due to folliculitis. Folliculitis and ingrown hair are common after shaving. If you still want to go in for shaving, then apply cold compresses(ice cubes wrapped in a towel) on the rash and take some antihistaminic like benadryl or claritin. You can also apply calamine lotion on the rash. It will help in soothing the skin. A mild corticosteroid cream will also help.
the only part on my body itching has been my legs. I have no rashes, no bumps, and nothing like shaving seems to be the cause. I have not changed soap, detergent, or lotion when I started having these problems, but have since tired different soaps like oatmeal, dry skin, and sensitive skin soaps. I have tried benadryl, and even put a humidifier in my room. It sometimes wakes me up at night, and my only option is a cold rag to sooth it.
It took about three weeks of doing this for the itchiness to completely go away but I'm still exfoliating my legs twice a week and my legs are no longer itchy and are extra smoothe! I can't find the original post of the person who recommended this to thank them but they saved my sanity! NO longer itching!
Im glad Im not the only one with "itchy" legs. I have had "itchy" legs for years. I have been told it was all in my head. And have tired almost everything for dry itchy skin. Its mostly my lower legs, the front and side. Sometimes its my upper leg. When they itch, it feels like they are itchy from the bones. I end up itching them so much that I tear my legs open, and usually get a faint scar. They seem dry usually, but are as smooth and soft as my hands are.
but on a basic lotion, dry off your legs and put jeans on asap. I think the feel of the jeans on your legs helps distract you from the itching. As a Nurse, I personally think it is some sort of eczema or just really sensitive skin. I think shaving, showers or anything else that would upset your skins normal conditions just cause a minor irritation that is really itchy. I am really interested in laser hair removal because I believe shaving is the main issue... for me anyways.
Once I started my daily dose of the miracle drug, I noticed my 30min crazy leg scratching sessions (along with sneeze attacks) came to an end. I've been scratch and sneeze free for 2 years now. My doc said the cedar allergy and itchy legs were most likely not related but if the Zyrtec helped both, then great! Give it a try, become an ex-scratch addict like me. Ya gotta take 1 Zrytec daily for about a week before ya notice any difference but it really worked for me so be patient. Hope it helps!
Hi I'm so glad to hear others suffer with the itchy legs; no rash problem. I've suffered from this for 20+ years and think I've solved the problem for me. My lower legs tend to itch after a morning shower (or if water even touches my legs!). This is an uncontrollable itch that lasts for about 20-30 minutes. My doctor could not suggest any reason for it. I have found that aerobic exercising first thing in the morning for about 20-30 minutes (I jog), then shower with no problems.
I havent broke out in any red bumps and there is no signs of irritation. I'm confused on this one. Is this yet another miserable symptom of prememopause or should I be concerned about something else?
My legs have been itchy every day since i was born. im 21 and i have always had itchy legs. when i was younger my family would all scream at me as once i started i couldnt seem to stop. the itching gets so bad that it annoys you and fustrates you and it becomes painfull. My dad used to smack my legs where it was itching and it used to help but it didnt last too long only for about 5-10 mins and i would be scratching again.
Ever since then i've been seeing these tiny red non itchy bumps form on my legs and arms and armpit most of them are not itchy except for the armpit one. I thought it was a flea attack but the bites are not itchy and the dog did not show any of the trademark itching and biting signs of fleas. His hair did shed but that could've been related to the fact that we were using dog shampoo that may not have gotten along with him.
Hi, I have had for two months itchy red bumps [no rash] on my lower legs. They so not go away and itch very bad at times. Dr said it was eczema but not to sure. The DR took a swab to see if it was a bacteria waiting for the results tomorrow. I hope my immune system is OK. Any thoughts?
I have these red itchy bumps on my legs for almost a year now. It started when I migrated here to Canada. They come and go, come and go all of a sudden, with or without me putting topical cream for temporary itch relief. Once a bump disappears, another one appears. During winter, the bumps are only in my legs. Now that it's summer, there are bumps all of a sudden in my shoulders and even in my armpits. They itch really crazy during the night.
Hello, The red bumps could be due to folliculitis, heat rash or contact dermatitis. It is very difficult confirming a diagnosis without examination. Take some antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin and apply some calamine lotion on the rashes. You can also apply some steroid cream and if the symptoms persist then a dermatologist’s evaluation will be the best. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
For the past 2 weeks, I have had small bumps appearing randomly (mostly on my legs). In the beginning, they just look like ant or mesquito bites. Then they begin to spread out and look like hives. They are raised, but flat and I have new ones appearing everyday. I went to see my doctor after I noticed that they were spreading. She told me they were just bites and gave me a steroid cream called Westcort and it seems to be worsening rather than improving.
Hello! I noticed recently that I have some pretty intense razor bumps on my legs. They show up on part of my lower leg, and a lot on my thigh. I use a moisturizing shave gel, I change my razor blade monthly, and I use lotion after I shower. The bumps are small and red, but not itchy. I'd like to know how to prevent this and treat it easily. Thanks!
I have red bumps on my lower legs, lots of them, this is the 4th time in 8 months I have gotten them. They do not itch but hurt to the touch, are red like pimples and are just in the front of my lower legs. They all seems to happen with 24 hours after I shave. I use new razors and shaving cream but I am not sure if I am coming in contact after with something or I am just breaking out in razor burn? I thought they maybe bug bites but they do not itch and no one else in my family gets them.
