Bumps on knuckles of fingers

Common Questions and Answers about Bumps on knuckles of fingers

bumps

On my left hand only (right now at least) I have raised, painless, red bumps on the middle knuckle of my middle finger (both sides) and my index finger one side only (for now?). There is no redness in the middle and they are the diameter of a pencil eraser. They look a lot like insect bites but do not itch and are not painful, but they are definitely there and I am concerned. Anyone experience this or know what it is?
I have a small, shallow soft bump on the upper finger knuckle of my right hand; it hurts when I bend or touch it, it is soft and tender with a lite red hue to it similar to a blister that is partially drained. I have had it for three weeks, and it stays about the same, .... does not seem to get any better nor worse.
I have round bumps on knuckles of all the fingers of my right hand (I'm right handed), the largest on my index finger and tapering to the smallest on my small finger. The largest is about 1/4" in diameter and about 1/8" high. They are rough and feel like callouses, but I don't do any kind of work that would cause a callous there. I can file them smooth or put hand cream on them to soften them, but very soon the roughness is back. The largest is rough enough to snag on clothing, etc.
I have large bumps on my all of my middle knuckles. They are tender to the touch and tender when put under pressure - like making a fist. They are on all 8 fingers (thumbs excluded). I have tried ice, heat, massage, reike, and anti-inflammatories. I've been to a dermatoligist. I had biopsies done on the pad type material - inconclusive. I've had cortisone injections and tried a topical steroid. No change. I am right handed but the issue is bi-lateral. I have a desk job.
What are these red, tender bumps the size of a pencil eraser on the tops of my knuckles on my fingers adjacent to the bed of my fingernails. I have assumed they were arthritic in nature. This discussion is related to Bumps on backs of hands, knuckles.
I have a recurring issue where I get small red bumps on the backs of my hands, mainly on or around the knuckles. They are mostly small (around 2mm diameter) but some are larger (5mm diameter). They do not appear to be fluid filled. Right now I can count about 9 total on both hands. They really look and act like small insect bites (except they do not itch or hurt), but the recurring nature and localization makes me believe they are not insect bites.
couple weeks ago - i noticed blister-like sores on the knuckles of a few fingers .. some fingers have a blister on both the knuckles. i went to the dermatologist a week ago and she did not know what these were. she gave me a cream - salex - and said if it didn't clear up to see her partner. it hasn't cleared up and in fact, i am noticing more knuckles getting these. it does look like when one gets a blister from too tight of a shoe .. but no liquid has come out of any of them.
Well, i think i broke my hand(pinky knuckle) last year, but i just never went to the hospital. The bone healed, but its crooked. When i make a fist, the pinky knuckle stands about as tall as the middle. When i straighten out my hand, there's a noticeable bump on it. It doesn't bend smoothly and hurts when i use it too long. Can i still do something about it, or is my hand just stuck the way it is?
As I write this my right hand middle finger is all bumped up on the left side back to the middle knuckle. My left hand index finger had several tiny bumps on the top of the front knuckle . They have since opened and I now have a red burning fissure in their place. In my job I repair medical eqipment for a living , wheelchairs, scooters and a host of other related items. When these outbreaks occur it makes it very difficult for me to work as I need my hands to be fully functional.
I am 16 and for about 3 months I've had a bad pain in my right index finger. It started in the base knuckle near my palm. 2 weeks ago the pain gradually started to move up my finger. It starts to hurt during everyday activities like brushing my hair, taking off caps to bottles/jars, and mostly anything that requires force used by the fingers. The pain also occurs randomly, mostly in the evening and at night.
I woke up with a small red bump on my knuckle it almost appeared to be a bite from an spider, flea, etc..
For quite a while now, I have been getting red bumps on my fingers, knuckles and elbows. They hurt really bad when I scrape them or put pressure on them, which happens a lot since they are on the creases of my fingers or on my knuckles and then on my elbows. I started paying attention and noticed that they only come around my period. I don't get them every cycle, but I've never had them when my period didn't soon follow.
It's annoying an hurts when I touch or bend my finger but eventually the bumps go away and everything is fine. Some of the new bumps kinda feel the same though, it's similar pain when touched. Recently I noticed similar bumps on my heel. I had a big blister on my heel from wearing new work boots and as the blister healed these two red bumps showed up that were both painful and itchy. They only hurt when I touch them. Next there was a red bump on the top of my opposite foot near my big toe.
I have a series of small bumps on the top and side of my index finger and a longer one at the knuckle with is sore when I press on it. They've been there for a few month now. Other factors to consider is that I have a ring of bumps on my left forearm which my doc thinks is ringworm (hasn't gone away after 2 weeks of fungal cream) and I used my right finger to apply elocom before I saw him about the issue.
- The picture in the green circle is a side view of my hand/knuckles. When i press a finger on that middle knuckle and move my middle finger upwards and downwards, i feel as if one of my tendons is rubbing on a bone; i feel slight vibrating between the tendon and the bone when i do that motion, i also feel pain. The "rubbing" is not normal because my left hand's knuckle-joints are well lubricated and move smoothly without any pain. Please give me feedback.
When i woke up in the morning i looked at it and a rash, consisting of small, itchy, red bumps, had appeared on the knuckles of both my pointer fingers. It has been about 4 days now and the rash has spread up my pointer fingers, to the next knuckles, down the side of my hands and to my elbows. I have had a slight history of eczema, however, it was on my neck area and i have not had a flare up in about 3 years.

When I open my hand, I can't feel a bone in my knuckles persition, when I move my finger over my ring finger knuckle I can then feel something hard like a bone on it, my hand sinks into it, it's all soft and stuff... and I touch my ring finger knuckle I can feel something inside it moving but that doesn't hurt. Only when I move my ring finger around it does. PLEASE RESPOND, I AM WORRIED.

I have red bumps on the joints of most of my fingers, sometimes they come and go but they are there more then not. They are extremely itchy but hurt when I itch them and make my joints stiff. I've had them for about 3 years last year the doctor prescibed some cortizone cream saying it may be a skin condition but it did nothing. They are both on the sides of my fingers and on top.
I've been taking anti-fungal meds and topical cream but it's not helping these bumps. I've had them for months. One bump on the knuckle is really sore when you touch or bump it, and I'm a guitarist so getting concerned. Any specific idea on what it is and what I could try, as I have to wait for a dermatologist for quite a while? Thanks!
I have a painful bump on my left index finger (finger pad just above first knuckle). It will not go away (about 8 months now). My primary care physician suggested dyshidrotic eczema and treat with OTC Hydrocortisone. I have had dyshidrosis before this is nothing like it.
Two days later I got another red bump on my right upper knuckle of my pinky, again it was small and tender, but did not worry about it. By Friday the original one was the size of a dime and was really red, the one on my pinky was growing. That Sunday I noticed another one on my left ring finger, in the same area, my upper knuckle. Monday (week later) I decided to go to urgent care because I thought I may just need antibiotics or something.
Hello, From the symptoms it does not sound like Carpal tunnel syndrome to me. It can be herpetic whitlow which presents as painful bumps on the fingers, cellulitis skin or Osler’s nodes. Herpetic whitlow is a painful viral infection occurring on the fingers or around the fingernails. Herpetic whitlow is caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus (HSV). Osler’s nodes are painful, red, raised lesions on the palms and soles.
