35y Male - diagnosed with Eosinophilic Colitis 12 months ago following biopsy. Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day.

After 30 days I had a 4th gen test done which has come back negative. My question relates to medication i'm taking for ulcerative colitis. I'm currently taking budesonide steroids 6mg daily and mercaptopurine 75mg daily. Can either of these affect the outcome of my HIV results?

Hay mommy! Luckily I came across this post cus I have ulcerative colitis as well. I was diagnosed in 2010 at tha age of 19. There's really no say soo of where this disease comes from but it isn't curable & can be managed with meds. I've been on Asacol but was taken off due to it causing me hairloss. Could this be something else besides ulcerative colitis ? How sensitive is this test he had done (false positives) ?I am 33 years old. How bad is it relly going to get if I dont do his method of treatment?

I was told before that they "think" that I have ulcerative colitis. I was put on medication. But after it stopped helping, I stopped taking it, and I was fine. Then just recently I have been feeling horrible. Stomach pain, mostly on the right lower region, gas, bloating, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes stabbing pain in my right lower abdomen. Those are symptoms of ulcerative colitis and it doesn't have to hurt to be serious. You really need to get to the doctor and have this investigated.

I think I have ulcerative Colitis. My stomach usually hurts and I have to go the bathroom frequently throughout the day. A lot of times I suffer from fecal incontinence where i will go back to the bathroom like a half hour after I eat and I will wipe and there will be something on the toilet paper. I do not know what to do. Also, sometimes when i look at my stool there is like a red flake or something, can that be blood? Can blood show up in the form of a flake.

Recently doctor gave me tetracycline oilment to apply on my anus and when the oilment went into the opening I felt sharp pain. Will topical oilement cause ulcerative colitis due to irritants inside the lining of the anus?

I am taking the prednisone for ulcerative colitis all biopsys were negative for it but he sent blood work off and it came back positive for uc it was some kind of antibody test

I just find it frustrating. There is a big difference between someone with Crohn's or Colitis and GERD. Thanks for the info on the Crohn's community but I am an ulcerative colitis survivor and my son is now having active disease and really need support in that area. It would be helpful if we could even divide the forum between intestinal issues and non-instestinal.

My 23 year old daughter was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis several years ago. One of the symptoms she developed was cystic acne, which we were told can be caused by the colitis. She's presently on Liadyl and her ulcerative colitis is under control but the cystic acne will not go away. She goes to the dermatologist constantly for injections, but the cysts just go down for a day and come right back up again.
