symbicort

Although it is a corticosteroid drug like prednisone, it is metabolized differently and may reduce the potential for long-term side effects that can be associated with corticosteroids. Once therapy is started, it is usually continued for two to three months, before attempts are made to decrease the amount of medication. In many cases, a hypoallergenic diet may be recommended to aid in control of the disease.
Long ago, my cat's IBD was so severe my vet said he would end up with cancer in the colon. My cat's IBD consisted of frequent diarrhea (5-7 in one day) and bleeding. I just wanted to know, because I really have not researched on it, what causes a cat to suffer cancer after having IBD. What is it with IBD that animals end up with cancer after years of treatment?
The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475). I’ve cut back my meds to 220mg flovent twice a day, and albuterol when necessary. 1.
I was also prescribed Budesonide to mix with a tea spoon of saline and and squirting it into my sinus passageways and hanging my head off the side of the bed and turning from side to side. I also take Singulair which keeps down the swelling in my bronchial tubes and lungs. The nasal sprays never worked for me nor the emergency inhalers. Budesonide keeps the polyps down and this med. has been a life saver! Also the allergy serum has been a life saver!
My doctor told me I should use Pulmicort indefinitely. When I've asked if there are any side effects or risks of using it long-term, he said no and was rather dismissive of my questions. I can't afford to pay for another office visit when I know he will just insist that I keep using the full amount. However, I'm wondering if I should not be using fully concentrated Pulmicort at such a high dosage.
However none of them has been proven effective or without side effect. Lately I started to us SinusWars2. I noticed that my muscus has been getting less and my nostrils are getting clearer. One noticable change is I have much less crust in my middle nostrils where I used to reach to get crust out. I feel much easier to breath when I go for a jogging or swimming. Again I just started to take this sinus remedy and need time to prove its effectiveness. Hope to hear feedback from others.
I told my doc that I wanted OFF the merry-go-round and was ready to try Imuran - despite the lack of data re it and AIP and the serious potential side effects of Imuran. He suggested maybe give the prednisone just one more go (starting 60mg weaning dose over 12 wks) on the chance that this'll do it before commiting to a trial of Imuran. I'm in Week 2, feeling waaaaay better symptom-wise for the moment, though we know this is the band-aide effect of steroids.
