Avatar f tn I have never had back and stomach pain with my pouchitis. When I take cipro for my pouchitis, I feel very good. I don't even think about going to the restroom during the work day. I can even sleep through the night without getting up. The meds really help me. Do you take anything for pouchitis? I am just tiring of the side effects of antibiotics for months at a time. that is why I am looking for alternative treatments like probiotics or diet.
Avatar f tn I have had my J Pouch for 12 years and just recently I have had regular flair ups of pouchitis. I have been on CIPRO off and on for almost 6 months! I am looking for prevention tips or other treatments to control pouchitis. Any ideas out there?
Avatar f tn ve had a J-pouch for 15 years without any problems. It sounds like you may have pouchitis and hopefully a round of some good antibiotics might get you back on track.
Avatar n tn I have UC and Ive had a j-pouch for 6 years now.. And have had nothing but problems. I had pouchitis which you talked about and have been put on the same antibiotics for years at a time and nothings worked. My doctor is now going to try the drug 6mp because I have fistula's and ulcers. He said if that doesnt work the drug called Remicade would be his 2nd option. Maybe you should ask your doctor about those two drugs as well. Cka58 I feel your pain its like a never ending battle with UC.
483733 tn?1326798446 For many years I had no issues with my pouch and now, 16 years later, am starting to get pouchitis and some night time incontinence. Would love to share and get to know others with a pouch. Do introduce yourself and let us know how long you've had your pouch.
Avatar n tn I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.
Avatar f tn I had a month or so on Entecort (budesonide here in England) but had a severe rectal haemorrhage and was hospitalised on IV steroids and needed blood transfusions. I don't think my gastro in England, who prescribed it, at the time realised that Entecort only works in the small intestine, and I had Pan Crohn's Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare.
Avatar f tn I have pouchitis, I have been taking probiotics in the form of youghurt & acidophilus, plus acidopilus tablets. I have been put on a course of antibiotics for 14 days. Will the ciprofloxacin antibiotics have a detrimental effect on the probiotics ?
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Avatar f tn Budesonide is the generic name, i am on Entocort with contains budesonide, because budesonide is not sold generically in the state of new jersey. I have been on it for about 3 months now, but I was also on it for quite awhile a few years ago. I have never had anything but success with it. there are no side effects. I will be on it for another 2 months and my dr plans to take me off of it.
Avatar f tn I seem to relapse with pouchitis quite often and the pain I experience is very painful on the right side of my tummy. Currently I am taking oxynorm, Targin, tramadol to assist with my pain. What I am wanting to know is there anything else that can be taken to help so I can terminate the use of the medication that I am currently on? What also needs to be taken into account is that the dosages I am on are very high so I do need something to do the job for 3 things and strong.
Avatar f tn Urgency to pass stool can also be due to pouchitis, which can also cause diarrhea (with or without blood) and pain. Please discuss with your doctor and see if taking care of your diet helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar n tn Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day. Has anybody ever come through this disease to lead a normal life, or has anyone treated a patient that has done so?
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.
Avatar f tn Little is known about the long-term efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We investigated the efficacy of inhaled budesonide on decline in lung function and respiratory symptoms in a 3-year placebo-controlled study of patients with COPD...... Inhaled budesonide was of no clinical benefit in COPD patients recruited from the general population by screening.
Avatar n tn I had a recent bout with pouchitis and took Cipro and Flagyl (and yogurt) . The Cipro made me feel normal again and reduced frequency to 5-7 x's a day- I felt good! When I came off the Cipro the high frequency diarrhea problem returned. I go every 6 hrs at about 4 trips per. I am so beat down by a lack of sleep and stress from this that I am ready to die!!! Given I have young kids this is not an option though, if I didn't it would be.
Avatar n tn No, I don't take antibiotics. Twice in the 16 years my GP thought I might have pouchitis and put me on rounds of Cipro and Flagyl but I don't think I had it. What happens when you don't take the antibiotics? That seems such a long time to be on them.
Avatar n tn I have a dog with IBD and he takes a compounded steroid called Budesonide everyday plus an enzyme supplement called Prozyme and stays on a strict diet of a fish and pot dry kibble. He still flares up every few months with bloody diarrhea which then we start up sulfasalazine 3 times a day which usually calms things down within a few days and after a week or 2 he's back on track.
Avatar n tn He has been on budesonide for 4 weeks with no results. He also takes esomeprazole with no results. When she did the cameraoscopy she saw what she called white fuzz at the beginning of lower intestines. We did a round of fungal meds. No results. Can anyone help please.
Avatar m tn Hi granma, Your cat may also need some medication for her IBS. My cat takes Budesonide in liquid form everyday. She has the other problem of constipation, but I give her miralax. Ask your vet if the Budesonide would be indicated for this condition...I think she sounds like it is pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel. Fairly common in cats. My cat is also on Hills Z/D food only. I know some do not favor this food but it works for my cat along with the Busesonide....so I am a believer.
Avatar m tn 5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
