Avatar m tn I also take Singulair which keeps down the swelling in my bronchial tubes and lungs. The nasal sprays never worked for me nor the emergency inhalers. Budesonide keeps the polyps down and this med. has been a life saver! Also the allergy serum has been a life saver! With out these three meds my sinus's swell up so much that I can't talk and I get a severe head ache. I was suddenly allergic to dust mites, mold, yeast, dogs and pollen- two years after my polyps were removed.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
1137036 tn?1263515995 Started on Prednisone 5mg 2 pills 2-3 times a day and Rhinocort budesonide nasal spray yesterday (2-64 mcg doses). Zyrtec during the day and Benedryl at night. No more PND, throat clearing or raw throat. Plus I got in an hour of exercise mall walking at the Emporium yesterday (best to stay indoors, avoid the smog). 5 days without a cigarette. I have 4 days more to go on the Levaquin. This has been a hell of an ordeal, starting a month ago Dec 15.

Avatar f tn My treatment plan includes the usual .... steam, nasal irrigation, nasal gels, nasal oils, humidifiers, tons of water and tea, no dairy and ocassionally an antibiotic and oral steroids. This is how I’ve managed to keep things under control. Had septoplasty and turbinate reduction about 17 years ago and maybe there was some relief but really not sure (surgery screwed up my septum, now ive got a septal spur and small hole in septum....in other words, the doc screwed it up).

Avatar n tn I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.
Avatar n tn Have the docs suggested the use of a steroid such as budesonide for awhile to see if it can tamp down the symptoms? You also need to worry about taking things such as vitamins and any other pills, so you may want to discontinue them until you can tamp down her digestive response. EE can be very difficult to treat. I'm sorry to hear your daughter is experiencing the problem.
Avatar f tn I had a month or so on Entecort (budesonide here in England) but had a severe rectal haemorrhage and was hospitalised on IV steroids and needed blood transfusions. I don't think my gastro in England, who prescribed it, at the time realised that Entecort only works in the small intestine, and I had Pan Crohn's Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare.

Avatar m tn Xylitol is a sweetener that occurs naturally. It can be found, for instance, in berries, fruit, vegetables and mushrooms. xylitol is not actually a sugar, but a sugar alcohol.Xylitol is an important supplement in the preventation of dental caries.Research suggests significant benefits to using xylitol as a nasal wash, in addition to its dental application. Bacteria become "sticky” and adhere to the surface of the teeth leading to dental caries.
Avatar m tn t really make a diagnosis and prescribed me with some sort of nasal spray, insisted that I take anti-histamine to rule out allergies, and also prescribed me Symbicort, Budesonide/formoterol. After 10 days treatment, the breathing issues became agitated. The last doctor suggested referral to a specialist, I'm not entirely sure of which one, something to do with throat and breathing.

Avatar m tn If you absolutely can not get the funds for the doctor, I would check out the generic Loratadine antihistamine at most pharmacies for daily use and use the netipot with the recommened wash as many times as the instructions for the wash allows. If you feel there are trapped or dried secretions, you may consider Mucinex, also at the pharmacy. But again, if you think there is any chance of an infection, please try to get to the doctor.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Avatar f tn Budesonide is the generic name, i am on Entocort with contains budesonide, because budesonide is not sold generically in the state of new jersey. Avatar n tn Washing nasal passages with a saline solution on a regular basis also helps to wash away the bacteria and foreign particles which may be lodged there. Use steroid nasal sprays after a saline wash as they tend to act better. Practice breathing exercises and do steam inhalations. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day. Has anybody ever come through this disease to lead a normal life, or has anyone treated a patient that has done so?
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.
Avatar f tn Little is known about the long-term efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We investigated the efficacy of inhaled budesonide on decline in lung function and respiratory symptoms in a 3-year placebo-controlled study of patients with COPD...... Inhaled budesonide was of no clinical benefit in COPD patients recruited from the general population by screening.
Avatar n tn Since moving here I have developed cluster headaches, asthma, allergy to my much loved cats and severe nasal congestion in the spring. My nasal congestion is so severe that I can't sleep. When I do fall asleep I wake from dreams about not being able to breath. I take Claritin D 24 hour because it's supposed to be the best. I am going to try taking 2 of them at a time. I have to worry about my blood pressure though.

Avatar f tn I have taken immunotherapy, MRI, CT scan, lots of antibiotics, prescription nose sprays, nasal wash, etc. to no avail. I am currently taking antibiotics, prednisone, nasonex, atrovent, asteline, and nasal wash before the sprays (I have never taken all three before, but I thought it may be worth a try). Also, I am going for another CT scan this week. I also take a boat load of vitamins daily. I walk three miles a day. I do not smoke or drink. I have also been avoiding dairy.
