746512 tn?1388807580 I have been using the Neil-Med nasal rinse system for the last 2 1/2 months. It works wonderful after the inital 10 minutes of worsening congestion. I use it at least twice a day, morning and 2 hours before bed (sometimes I need it again after school because I'm congested again).
Avatar m tn I also take Singulair which keeps down the swelling in my bronchial tubes and lungs. The nasal sprays never worked for me nor the emergency inhalers. Budesonide keeps the polyps down and this med. has been a life saver! Also the allergy serum has been a life saver! With out these three meds my sinus's swell up so much that I can't talk and I get a severe head ache. I was suddenly allergic to dust mites, mold, yeast, dogs and pollen- two years after my polyps were removed.
Avatar f tn I am taking the Nasonex (as well as Neilmed saline nasal rinse - although less than religiously) because 3 years ago an ENT in Canada said I had based on his observations, tests (including imaging) and questions... A. Chronic sinusitis b undeveloped sinus X 1 C. Not serious nasal polyps In the 1970s a clinical ecologist determined by back substance test that I had numerous allergies and got me started on immunotherapy by giving myself thigh injections. I do not recall why I stopped.
Avatar f tn I’ve been through all the allergy tests, I’ve tried all sorts of dietary modifications, tried budesonide nasal rinse, flonase, azelastine, cingulair, magnesium supplements and any food that Google tells me is ‘anti inflammatory’, i try to eat. There is no correlation with the weather, no correlation to where i sleep (traveling to hotels, staying home). I’ve had extensive bloodwork and nothing obvious going on there.
Avatar n tn What you describe is probably being caused by the inhaled steroid (ICS) in these 2 preparations fluticasone in the Advair® and budesonide in the Symbicort®. And, it may be dose related, so that the first step would be for you and your doctor to consider reducing the strength of the ICS. You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose.
Avatar f tn Im in my 31st week and have the worst case of nasal allergy, any advice on what should I do or take? I already used nasal drops and took paracetamol but nothing worked.
Avatar f tn s issue of FIRST magazine about chronic sinus inflamation? They are suggesting to put a capsaicin extract in your nasal rinse for better results - I am wondering if anyone has tried it? I am going to take the article to my Allergist this week and see what he says. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I had nasal congestion post pituitary surgery. I was recommended to use a nasal rinse - once a day for a few weeks - called NeilMed which worked a treat. It is used ideally in the morning to "irrigate" the nasal areas which really means to keep it moist.
Avatar f tn I just had surgery to remove very large nasal polyps and fungus from my nose three weeks ago. Since the surgery I have visited the doctor once a week for deep cleaning. He is able to get out whatever I can't. My cleaning routine entails daily sinus rinse, three times a day. I dont want this to comeback since this is my second surgery. Today's office visit, the doctor said he could visible see signs of growth again of the polyps.
Avatar n tn It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray or saline nasal sprays. Symptoms can also be relieved by using a nasal spray that contains corticosteroids. But due to their side effects,it is better to use saline nasal sprays. The golden rule for chronic stuffy nose is steam inhalation. Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot (but not boiling water) may help to soften, and loosen, the build up of mucus in your nose.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
Avatar f tn I have been using a sinus nasal rinse made by the people that do the Neti Pot and it drastically helps! I also use breath strips at night to help get some relief.
Avatar f tn My TSH levels are up and I am experiancing clogged ear with what ENT says swollen turbinates. She put me on a nasal spray and it hasn't helped. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
4970182 tn?1361738088 They say it happens more often while pregnant. Try some saline nasal spray. Make sure the meds you are taking are approved by your doctor. I also invested in an air purifier, but it only helped a little bit. Apparently congestion comes with the pregnancy package. Maybe other ladies have other remedies.
Avatar f tn Saline nasal rinse might help with the congestion! I use to have random runny nose, stuffy nose, and then (tmi) super hard crusty boogies that made my nose scab up. My nose was so raw in the beginning of my second trimester. But the saline rinse helped clear up all of it :)! Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am taking medication for my sinus, I try to do the daily nasal rinse but it pops my ears. I am also taking morning and evening meds for the chronic acid reflux. None of this is helping, people look at me as though I'm not clean and I am an extremely clean person but as soon as they smell me they look at me like I have the plague.
Avatar n tn After second surgery was placed on montelukast and nasal saline rinse with budesonide, which helped for 8 or 9 months. Then started coughing at night and I became concerned it might be from the montelukast so I stopped it (although ENT said to stay on it). Now on an inhaler. It's been a nightmare. Although I know there are worse things, I feel that the quality of my life is forever changed. I never feel well. Hoping that the third surgery will give me some relief for a few months.
Avatar m tn Your immune system may not yet be up to speed so it's still wise to stay on top of anything you may catch. I started to get hayfever a couple of weeks ago (on tx), and found a 'saline rinse' bottle with pre-dose saline solution (obtained from the chemist) cleared it quickly. (I had similar a couple of years ago which turned into a nasty cold and chest infection, so whether you see a doctor, get cold/flu/allergy tabs or use a saline rinse, it would pay to try to control it)....
850029 tn?1238857820 Does anyone have any good home remedies for post nasal drip? I'm dying here:( I've had it for two days and its driving me nuts. Typically is that a symptom of a sinus infection?
1137036 tn?1263515995 Started on Prednisone 5mg 2 pills 2-3 times a day and Rhinocort budesonide nasal spray yesterday (2-64 mcg doses). Zyrtec during the day and Benedryl at night. No more PND, throat clearing or raw throat. Plus I got in an hour of exercise mall walking at the Emporium yesterday (best to stay indoors, avoid the smog). 5 days without a cigarette. I have 4 days more to go on the Levaquin. This has been a hell of an ordeal, starting a month ago Dec 15.
Avatar f tn I am 5w6d pregnant and I too get to feeling stuffy. For me, it helps when I use a nasal rinse. Its a little squeeze bottle by the makers of the netipot and it comes with pre-measured packets of the nasal mix. It feels kind of weird at first :-) its only about $12 or so at Walmart.
270554 tn?1289511647 anyways I never have muscus come out of my nose only way to do so is use sinus rinse, and that helps for like 30 mins tops and not even close to helping releave the ear pain...my CT showed a deviated septum, enlarged turbines, and a frature in the right nose passage from head trama probably when I was little... when I take a cutip, just the outter lining is covered in blood...the pain is so severe i'm going for nasal surgrey soon, do you think this will help?
Avatar f tn Went to an ENT who then prescribed nasal rinse using Pulmicort Budesonide Ampoules. This was effective for the lat 4 years but was messy because as soon as you got off it, the polyps would come back in a couple of weeks. For the past two months the pulmicort has now stopped being effective. Hence am looking forward to an appointment with the ENT for a possible surgery.
Avatar m tn I have had post nasal drip and severe sinus problems for many years now. I had an operation to remove a cyst and some polyp's about 5 years ago. This never stopped the post nasal drip, and i have since had ct scans done and it reveals that i once again have polyps. I seem to be getting different story's from every specialist i see, with the most recent one saying that the polyps wouldn't be causing you trouble and there is nothing he can do.
Avatar f tn You can use a saline nasal rinse or spray for nasal congestion or dryness. Also be sure to maintain adequate hydration, typically 8-12 eight ounce glasses of water daily unless directed otherwise by your doctor. It is important you talk with your doctor prior to starting any new prescription or over-the-counter remedies, and to let your doctor know of any ailments or new symptoms you experience.
Avatar f tn It's my first, and most annoying sign of pregnancy. Saline nasal spray, and/or a saline rinse kit. Keep the heat a notch or two lower. I also use a small desk fan to keep the air circulating in my bedroom. Even a humidifier might help.
