Avatar n tn I have a dog with IBD and he takes a compounded steroid called Budesonide everyday plus an enzyme supplement called Prozyme and stays on a strict diet of a fish and pot dry kibble. He still flares up every few months with bloody diarrhea which then we start up sulfasalazine 3 times a day which usually calms things down within a few days and after a week or 2 he's back on track.
Avatar m tn My cat was diagnosed with IBD also, he is on Budesonide 0.25 twice a day. He was put on prescription food, Royal Canin Hypoallergenic My vet provided 5 types of trial food, venison, deer etc to see which one he would eat. (He is a picky eater) He sniffed all the others and went for the Hypoallergenic Since he has been on the medicine and food now, he stopped vomiting and diarrhea and actually gained weight.
Avatar m tn I respond very well to oral and IV steroids, I was on a 160mg/day pred dose and switched to 9mg/day budesonide. The flagyl and cipro failed to do anything and no appreciable difference was noted from Asacol. So here's my question: Is is possible to be mis-diagnosed with IBS while actually having Crohn's. I received all my Dr's notes recently and he noted that I had received treatment that I have never tried also. Thank you for you help and suggestions.
Avatar f tn Budesonide is the generic name, i am on Entocort with contains budesonide, because budesonide is not sold generically in the state of new jersey. I have been on it for about 3 months now, but I was also on it for quite awhile a few years ago. I have never had anything but success with it. there are no side effects. I will be on it for another 2 months and my dr plans to take me off of it.
Avatar f tn He started at a very young age, only 3 or 4 months, to have awful diarrhea with blood (very common in IBD cats, they start at a very young age). As far as IBD (Chronic Colitis) goes, your cat will eventually, hear me on this, she will eventually end up with cancer if you do not act on it soon. Medication does not kill the cause but the symptoms, only for a while, and you want to be able to get to the root of the problem and make it go away.
Avatar n tn I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.
Avatar f tn I had a month or so on Entecort (budesonide here in England) but had a severe rectal haemorrhage and was hospitalised on IV steroids and needed blood transfusions. I don't think my gastro in England, who prescribed it, at the time realised that Entecort only works in the small intestine, and I had Pan Crohn's Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Avatar n tn Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day. Has anybody ever come through this disease to lead a normal life, or has anyone treated a patient that has done so?
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.
Avatar n tn I was told i had IBD about a year ago. I noticed that every time I drink, my right side and my right lower back throbs very very bad. Is drinking a bad idea when you have this? I dont drink often, maybe twice a month. It doesnt only hurt when i drink it hurts most all the time but worse when i drink. Could the pain be my colon?
Avatar f tn Ibd is basically Ulcerative colitis and chron’s disease, they are both chronic diseases that cause inflammation in your intestines and other spots, I’m not a professional gastroenterologist or anything but since my uncle has chron’s disease I know a thing or two. Even after surgery you will still have a bit of Ibd symptoms, you seem to have a lot of bleeding that doesn’t seem to be caused by hemorrhoids.
Avatar f tn Little is known about the long-term efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We investigated the efficacy of inhaled budesonide on decline in lung function and respiratory symptoms in a 3-year placebo-controlled study of patients with COPD...... Inhaled budesonide was of no clinical benefit in COPD patients recruited from the general population by screening.
776872 tn?1247938680 Prednisone is a "rescue therapy" - i.e. it is used to help bring an acute flareup in control. Depending on dosage and length of use, it can cause multiple side effects, including weight gain, insomnia, mood swings etc. If you don't see reduction in frequency of bowel movements or amount of blood, check back with your doctor - you may need higher dosage or other meds in parallel. Note Crohn's is unsolved, so best the meds and docs can do is try to control it and its symptoms.
Avatar f tn Another method of treating this form of arthritis is to gain control over the inflammation in the colon due to IBD. The arthritis symptoms will usually lessen when the IBD is quiescent. IBD patients being treated with prednisone often get a bonus side effect of relief from joint pain. Spinal arthritis (Spondylitis) In spinal arthritis, symptoms could appear months or even years before the onset of IBD.
Avatar n tn She found the cure to her IBD cat as well, and it has been over 7 years since the IBD symptoms have not come back. These websites will help you rid your cat from the pain. www.catnutrition.org http://www.felinenutrition.
Avatar n tn He has been on budesonide for 4 weeks with no results. He also takes esomeprazole with no results. When she did the cameraoscopy she saw what she called white fuzz at the beginning of lower intestines. We did a round of fungal meds. No results. Can anyone help please.
Avatar m tn Hi granma, Your cat may also need some medication for her IBS. My cat takes Budesonide in liquid form everyday. She has the other problem of constipation, but I give her miralax. Ask your vet if the Budesonide would be indicated for this condition...I think she sounds like it is pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel. Fairly common in cats. My cat is also on Hills Z/D food only. I know some do not favor this food but it works for my cat along with the Busesonide....so I am a believer.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the information. In the absence of a colonoscopy and/or biopsy, I would like to believe that there might be other symptoms of IBD which would provide some confirmatory evidence or point to the "liklihood" of IBD.
Avatar m tn 5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
