I would like to know whether I should use the inhalers they gave me (spiriva and seretide) for my condition, COPD, irrespective of whether I get some relief from them. Can they slow down the lung deterioration process? Should I really go on inhaling for ever?... in other words, if these medicines are only - or mostly - intended to make me feel better (which they don't), can I stop taking them? I perceive them as a nuisance and the result of a pharmaceutically oriented approach.
You could be allergic to the budesonide/pulmicort! I was put on life support for an allergic reaction/anaphylaxis and they were giving me methylprednisolone as a steroid. Every time they would give It to me the leak in my cuff tightened back up. It was preventing me from having the ventilator removed. After leaving hospital (where I was on holiday in Florida) I saw my gastro in England and asked for methotrexate, oral at first 25 mg a week, now for the past 6-7 yrs weekly injections of 12.5mg. Doing very well, and although there can be serious side effects such as liver toxicity and disruption to the bone marrow, I am monitored monthly and have no problems.

I also take Singulair which keeps down the swelling in my bronchial tubes and lungs. The nasal sprays never worked for me nor the emergency inhalers. Budesonide keeps the polyps down and this med. has been a life saver! Also the allergy serum has been a life saver! With out these three meds my sinus's swell up so much that I can't talk and I get a severe head ache. I was suddenly allergic to dust mites, mold, yeast,dogs and pollen- two years after my polyps were removed.
5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Budesonide - this was a new drug in England when I was prescribed it. My then gastro thought it would keep my Crohn's in remission. I was not in a flare when it was prescribed, but got one 2-3 weeks afterwards.
Q1: yes, I take it weekly. 12.5 mg self injected. Used to be 25 mg oral tablets, but new gastro switched me to injections as he said he wasn't sure how much of the drug I was absorbing.
This Golden will be 2 in July. As a puppy, he was on Eagle Pack Chicken & Rice for puppies and adults. The rep suggested I try him on the Eagle Pack Anchovy, Sardine & Salmon, which didn't really make a difference. A littermate sister was having the same problems and put her on Pro Plan Salmon and she is fine. I tried that for 1 bag and no difference. His stool was soft, not diarrhea. He's been dewormed periodically, was just neutered a month ago.
I suddenly had developed wheezing and coughing after exposure to some toxic paint plus for a couple of years when I climb stairs I am short of breath. He said to take meds for a month at one dose and for another month at a half dose and to thereafter see another pulmonologist.
He prescribed three meds, one ('Nasonex') that was already taking based on an ENT's recommendation. I am able to find that one easily in many countries where I travel.
She has the other problem of constipation, but I give her miralax. Ask your vet if the Budesonide would be indicated for this condition...I think she sounds like it is pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel. Fairly common in cats. My cat is also on Hills Z/D food only.
I know some do not favor this food but it works for my cat along with the Busesonide....so I am a believer.
He has been on budesonide for 4 weeks with no results. He also takes esomeprazole with no results. When she did the cameraoscopy she saw what she called white fuzz at the beginning of lower intestines. We did a round of fungal meds. No results. Can anyone help please.
Having been on Advair for one year, I now have "frogs" in throat which causes me - a singer - to lose
my voice when singing low notes. The Advair was discontinued and I am now on Symbicort which, I am afraid, is causing the same problem. Is there a simple "home remedy" for this problem?

Thanks for the answer Vance and Lizzie. The tourniquet that was used to draw blood for my daughter for some chromosomal testing was having fresh blood. They used the same tourniquet which they used it for a previous patient. The person did not use a gloves and used the tourniquet on my daughters hand and since they hands are very small, and the person was tying the tourniquet and it came on to his fingers also, he did not realize it, as he was very old.
im 21 y/o male, been having kind of difficulty breathing for 2 months now, feels difficult to take full deep breaths through the mouth sometimes.
i did an xray about a month ago, the doctor prescribed me a BUDESONIDE inhaler, but i havent been noticing any improvements.
I suspect some kind of inflammation, but the doctor denied it, so hope an expert and take a look and help me!

Hello :-). My son has asthma which manifests itself in a cough and often shows up during/after colds (he doesn't appear to have any problems with breathing in enough air... no emergencies, thank goodness). He takes Singulair every night, Albuterol as needed and Benadryl as needed (all as suggested by his doctor). He recently had a cold and his asthma flared up. We gave him albuterol via his nebulizer 3 times daily for around 6 days (his ped said 4-7 days).
Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma?

What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks. Treatment proceeded thus:
1. 1 week Medrol plus Symbicort (60 mg). Little effect - my lung function was at 74%.
2. 10 -day course of .875 MG Augmentin with pulmicort + albuterol nebulizer treatments, and Nasonex. Some improvement -- lung function up to 81%.
