Avatar m tn I hope some doctor responds to your question. The thickening in ileum and small intestine could point towards Crohn's. Are you still on steroids and/or anti-inflamatory meds? How about your CRP &ESR. Mine would keep fluctuating I.e. High with a flare and going down after meds for a few days. It would be a breakthrough case if you have correctly been treated for Crohn's and now correctly downgraded to IBS...someone with medical training pls respond.
Avatar n tn He has been on budesonide for 4 weeks with no results. He also takes esomeprazole with no results. When she did the cameraoscopy she saw what she called white fuzz at the beginning of lower intestines. We did a round of fungal meds. No results. Can anyone help please.
Avatar f tn I am a 24 year old who just a few months ago, had my world turned upside down. I began with flu-like symptoms, trembling, cold sweats, instability/fast heart rate. Symptoms continued throughout the day. The next day I went to ER treated for dehydration. A day later symptoms continued and I went to a different Hospital where they treated me for anxiety- I have NEVER been an anxious person, quite the opposite.
Avatar f tn I would like to know whether I should use the inhalers they gave me (spiriva and seretide) for my condition, COPD, irrespective of whether I get some relief from them. Can they slow down the lung deterioration process? Should I really go on inhaling for ever?... in other words, if these medicines are only - or mostly - intended to make me feel better (which they don't), can I stop taking them? I perceive them as a nuisance and the result of a pharmaceutically oriented approach.

Avatar n tn You could be allergic to the budesonide/pulmicort! I was put on life support for an allergic reaction/anaphylaxis and they were giving me methylprednisolone as a steroid. Every time they would give It to me the leak in my cuff tightened back up. It was preventing me from having the ventilator removed. We told them to stop the methylprednisolone and after a week and a half I was able to get off life-support. A week ago my asthma Dr.
Avatar m tn 5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Avatar n tn Welcome to our Crohn's Community Barneypenny. As far as I am aware, Xifaxan is an antibiotic prescribed to treat "traveller's diarrhea", a bacterial infection in the intestines caused by E.coli, and the result of eating contaminated food or drinking untreated water, and is not prescribed with a fever or bloody stools, or when the diarrhea is not due to E.coli.
Avatar m tn Hello Friends! I know there is an older post about this issue. It does offer a few solutions but is loaded with a lot of obvious situations that I think everyone is familiar with and makes it hard to find the few solutions. However, I would like to suggest people POST ONLY WHAT HAS WORKED for them to reduce/eliminate diarrhea for those taking any of the SSRI's. Please go into details about THE SOLUTON. OK to list WHAT HAS NOT worked as well.
17080824 tn?1453552185 Yesterday, I had a muscle cramp on my left leg while coming out from the swimming pool. The pain was very intense for 5 minutes and the muscle started to get into its place. Then I felt like my body and mind is going to give up, I started seeing everything too bright. The blue water, the trees, the building nearby, everything too white and too bright. I can't see anybody swimming down there. I started thinking like this may be the end of everything.
Avatar f tn I suddenly had developed wheezing and coughing after exposure to some toxic paint plus for a couple of years when I climb stairs I am short of breath. He said to take meds for a month at one dose and for another month at a half dose and to thereafter see another pulmonologist. He prescribed three meds, one ('Nasonex') that was already taking based on an ENT's recommendation. I am able to find that one easily in many countries where I travel.
7052683 tn?1392938795 I am about to just stop everything and let her just live her life with her favorite foods, no meds, and hope for the best . It is wearing us both out. All I want is her to be happy and not have to eat z/d and fight with her every day with meds. Am I a horrible mom????? Really?
Avatar f tn Could I have Crohn's disease without the hallmark symptoms? Can bowel prep for colonoscopy cause mild inflammation and redness? I had a colonoscopy last week and the report says "localized inflammation, mild in severity and characterized by congestion (edema) and erythema in the terminal illeum." I have occasional loose stools, but not true diarrhea and not frequent.
Avatar m tn She has the other problem of constipation, but I give her miralax. Ask your vet if the Budesonide would be indicated for this condition...I think she sounds like it is pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel. Fairly common in cats. My cat is also on Hills Z/D food only. I know some do not favor this food but it works for my cat along with the Busesonide....so I am a believer.
Avatar n tn Having been on Advair for one year, I now have "frogs" in throat which causes me - a singer - to lose my voice when singing low notes. The Advair was discontinued and I am now on Symbicort which, I am afraid, is causing the same problem. Is there a simple "home remedy" for this problem? Thank you.
1539111 tn?1293014306 I am sorry to hear that your son is having severe fatigue problems as a result of his Crohn's disease. You asked about methotrexate - I have had Crohn's for 40 yrs, diagnosed at 25 rs old in 1970 when the only drug to really treat this incurable disease was steroids. Some 9 years ago I found methotrexate on the internet and cajoled my then gastro to prescribe it, which he was not happy to do, as at that time it was "off label".
Avatar m tn Thanks for the answer Vance and Lizzie. The tourniquet that was used to draw blood for my daughter for some chromosomal testing was having fresh blood. They used the same tourniquet which they used it for a previous patient. The person did not use a gloves and used the tourniquet on my daughters hand and since they hands are very small, and the person was tying the tourniquet and it came on to his fingers also, he did not realize it, as he was very old.
Avatar n tn does anyone know of gastroenterologists who promote alternative treatments for Crohn's Disease?
