Avatar n tn 35y Male - diagnosed with Eosinophilic Colitis 12 months ago following biopsy. Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm a 42 YOA female. After a colonoscopy, I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis and gastritis, approximately 15 months ago.I was given a treatment plan that included probiotics, Metamucil and vitamins. I have not seen any improvement. I was also tested for celiac disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders. I have 2 children and were blessed with hemorrhoids after their births. For the last 3 weeks I have been experiencing the most extreme flare with the hemorrhoids!
Avatar f tn I'm in th same boat as you. Just diagnosed with Crohn's Colitis & on Budesonide till end Aug. Currently down with a cough & cold. Also have a urine test report that shows 107 white blood cells and 13 RBC, >10 epithelial cells. Not sure if all these are connected th Crohn's or something else. In situations like these it is confusing!
Avatar f tn s Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare. After leaving hospital (where I was on holiday in Florida) I saw my gastro in England and asked for methotrexate, oral at first 25 mg a week, now for the past 6-7 yrs weekly injections of 12.5mg. Doing very well, and although there can be serious side effects such as liver toxicity and disruption to the bone marrow, I am monitored monthly and have no problems.
Avatar n tn He has been on budesonide for 4 weeks with no results. He also takes esomeprazole with no results. When she did the cameraoscopy she saw what she called white fuzz at the beginning of lower intestines. We did a round of fungal meds. No results. Can anyone help please.
Avatar f tn After several years without a diagnosis, I got one of collagenous colitis. The triggers for me are certain foods: dairy, grains, some vegetables, fruits, some meats, lentils...many, many foods. I am fortunate enough to have figured out which foods cause reaction, which is good. About 6 months ago, I was finally diagnosed and started taking cyclosporine 100 mg 2x day. After a week, I could eat like a normal person—just about anything I wanted. It was great, it even allowed me to travel to Europe.
Avatar m tn I would urge ANYONE who has chronic diarrhea associated with SSRI use to go to their doctor and insist on being tested for Microscopic Colitis. Long story short, I was diagnosed with collagenous/microscopic colitis. Since then, I've tried to manage it the best I can with diet, medication, and lifestyle changes. My GI doctor had me on Lomotil for a long time. And it was ok. I am now close to finishing my second round and Entocort has done wonders.
Avatar f tn Hello and thank you for sites like this. It's amazing the service you offer. I recently had sex with a sex worker. It was Protected sex which I realise means low risk of exposure. After 30 days I had a 4th gen test done which has come back negative. My question relates to medication i'm taking for ulcerative colitis. I'm currently taking budesonide steroids 6mg daily and mercaptopurine 75mg daily. Can either of these affect the outcome of my HIV results?
Avatar n tn I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.
Avatar f tn Little is known about the long-term efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We investigated the efficacy of inhaled budesonide on decline in lung function and respiratory symptoms in a 3-year placebo-controlled study of patients with COPD...... Inhaled budesonide was of no clinical benefit in COPD patients recruited from the general population by screening.
Avatar n tn I have a dog with IBD and he takes a compounded steroid called Budesonide everyday plus an enzyme supplement called Prozyme and stays on a strict diet of a fish and pot dry kibble. He still flares up every few months with bloody diarrhea which then we start up sulfasalazine 3 times a day which usually calms things down within a few days and after a week or 2 he's back on track.
Avatar m tn Hi granma, Your cat may also need some medication for her IBS. My cat takes Budesonide in liquid form everyday. She has the other problem of constipation, but I give her miralax. Ask your vet if the Budesonide would be indicated for this condition...I think she sounds like it is pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel. Fairly common in cats. My cat is also on Hills Z/D food only. I know some do not favor this food but it works for my cat along with the Busesonide....so I am a believer.
Avatar f tn Sounds like colitis. I agree get bloodwork done and then look at GI tract. My 1 dog gets severe flare ups of colitis with blood, mucus, weight loss etc. He gets an intestinal steroid Budesonide, sulfasalazine, salmon and rice diet exclusively and 1/4 tsp of pancreatic enzyme with food.
Avatar m tn 5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
Avatar n tn Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/371195'>Borderline Glaucoma and Steroids</a>.
Avatar m tn One of the newer suggestions is the use of orally ingested budesonide. You may want to check with your doctor.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old daughter gets bad colds with coughing and slight weezing atleast 3 or 4 times out of the year. Her doctor has always perscribed albuterol and budesonide through a nebulizer. This time around when I took her he added Singulair and Prednisolone. He hasn't actually diagnosed her with asthma but her father and uncle both have it. Could she be getting it also and what kind of test should she get to see if she has asthma. Any suggestions would really help.
Avatar f tn s under control with weekly injections of 25 mg methotrexate, daily folic acid and 5 mg daily of the steroid Budesonide, which does not have the serious side effects of prednisolone as it is only metabolised in the small intestine, not the liver. My own experience has been with numerous gastroenterologists as I have moved around a lot with my and my husband's careers, and have never been advised to consult a "holistic" doctor.
Avatar m tn I was also allergy tested and my allergies increased dramatically until I started taking allergy serum. I was also prescribed Budesonide to mix with a tea spoon of saline and and squirting it into my sinus passageways and hanging my head off the side of the bed and turning from side to side. I also take Singulair which keeps down the swelling in my bronchial tubes and lungs. The nasal sprays never worked for me nor the emergency inhalers. Budesonide keeps the polyps down and this med.
Avatar f tn Is anyone pregnant and dealing with colitis. If so do u have less flare ups or more? I'm 8 weeks n my white blood count was a little high they said could be due to my colitis. I have had previous misscarages and hoping my colitis don't effect this pregnancy. Is anyone on meds while pregnant for colitis?
