Avatar m tn I started my orthodontics treatment three weeks ago with my #10 missing. my original mid line (position of #9 and #8) is good. about one week ago I found out my #9 and #8 moving towards #10 space and the mid line is off. I am very worried. how could mid line to its optimal position garantteed? when orthodontics put braces /arch wire on, how he adjust it to bring patient's #8 #9 to their optimal position? I tried to talk with my orthodontist, but he seems don't think mid line is off...
Avatar f tn Dental services are required these days, no matter what kind of problem you are dealing with. Whether you have some teeth whitening issues, bad breath, misaligned teeth, mission tooth, cavities etc. you can visit the dentist and get good services regarding dental issues. They will provide dental implants, invisalign, orthodontics treatments and many more.
Avatar n tn is certainly NOT along time in the field of orthodontics. moving teeth too quickly can cause any/all of a myriad of problems, including root resorbtion, bony defects, pain, teeth fracture, the need for root canal treatment etc. thus, the case should not be rushed. You should discuss your case with your orthodontist. The length of time required for your case should have been one of the many things that were discussed before it was started.
Avatar n tn i would not pursue orthodontics until the problem with tis molar is solved. you may have a fracture, a periodontal problem, or a root that has not been cleaned out of nerve tissue. not all root canals work. I'd get another opinion on the root canal from a different endodontist. continually placing you on antibiotics everytime the tooth flares up is not a permanet fix. the source of the problem needs to be addressed.
Avatar f tn It was discovered incidentally a little over a year ago that I had four teeth with external root reabsorption. I have never had an injury or orthodontics and I have very healthy teeth with no dental work. I went back after having four implants and during routine follow-up they found that another tooth was affected. Another implant was placed and when I went back to get my stitches out they found two more teeth, I am up to 8 teeth now with no known cause.
Avatar n tn I started with a spring in the front to push the surrounding teeth out to make room for it, then moved to a powerchain and metal ligature, now back to a spring becuase the latter didn't work. The teeth there are VERY sensitive to pressure, I'm assuming from them moving...I can't bite into things...and adjustments so far have been quite painful DURING the adjustment, the pushing on the teeth hurts...
Avatar f tn m relaxed or reading, I slide my jaw either in front of my front teeth, so that my bottom teeth are in front of my front teeth or to the side, so I have an uneven bite. I don't know much about the treatment options besides the guard, but I'm only 20 and don't think this is an ideal situation for the rest of my life. I've also been waking up with ear pain, I'm assuming from clenching.
Avatar m tn t cover it with the second surgeon because he was out of network so I did not move forward. Orthodontics could possibly solve the crowding pain because they would remove teeth other than the wisdoms that are touching the nerve BUT that is not covered under insurance either. Fast forward to today and I have been in pain for the last 2 years from the wisdoms trying to come up and crowding.
Avatar n tn My dentist and many friends advised me to get braces. 1. What are the Braces Con's & Pro's? Straight Teeth and Pain when tightening the teeth. I mean like serious Con's like disease and errors that can happen. 2. Is it possible for the teeth to be crooked after taking the braces off. 3. Is it possible to get high quality never been use braces around $1000 and how?
Avatar n tn This came from Little Smiles Pediatric Dentistry: "Mouth jewelry can injure your child’s gums and teeth. Your child’s gums may be injured or recede (move away form your teeth) if they are in constant contact with the jewelry. Having an object in the mouth all of the time increases the production of saliva. This can contribute to tooth and gum decay. Additionally, the jewelry can cause cracked teeth and damage fillings, crowns, and orthodontics.
Avatar n tn I have severe gum loss on my right side (lower is worse) and moderate loss on the left.Front gums are fine. Teeth are fine and I brush (soft bristle) & floss regularly, always have. Front teeth are fine. My dentist has told me that I have a bite problem an the grinding pressure on my molars has caused bone loss and gum recession. I went to a periodontist a few years ago, and he agreed with the assessment of the bite problem.
9190592 tn?1402252466 I have always hated my smile because of the gaps between my teeth. I am 24, and I want to get a permanent or semi-permanent fix. I don't want veneers or bonding because those are just cosmetic procedures. So I was thinking about braces (which i am not keen on) or Invisalign. But I have heard that invasalign is not so effective with really bad gaps. so my question for you is this: Are my gaps small enough for invasalign to a have a noticeable effect?
Avatar n tn it would depend on many things such as age, positioning of teeth, short roots, and you would need to discuss this with your orthodontist. i suggest for braces go to an orthodontist. there are dentists that want to try things out of their "specialty" and myself would rather go to someone that does this everyday and has years of experience.
Avatar n tn Due to pain in upper right teeth area, I went to my dentist. Had two root canals done and then one tooth pulled hoping pain would go away. Still have pain. Have been to family dr. who ordered a CT scan completed which shows nothing unusual, neurologist (was of no help), ear nose throat specialist, and presenting going regularly to a dental college wherein they say I have atypical facial pain. I am presently on a neurontin for RX.
Avatar dr m tn my teeth used to have small gaps and were perfectly straight. Never had orthodontics as a child. I did have my wisdom teeth removed at 18. Since my teeth have become very crowded, to the point that they are pushing one on the top and bottom out. I have also had TMJ issues, grinding of teeth and wore a night splint for many years. They re-aligned my jaws, but they have since moved back since I quit wearing the splint.
Avatar n tn One of my teeth (first to my right of my two front teeth- the ones mentioned above) was cracked horizontally below and above the gum line. It was sensitive so received a root canal. A month later, I found a boil of pus on my gums above that tooth. It does not hurt, is very small, and comes and goes. My dentist thinks I need to remove that tooth and have a dental implant because there is going to an infection to my jawbones.
Avatar n tn The dentist I work for now likes to see if the bite corrects it self when the permanent teeth erupt. The older dentist in our practice likes to do them as soon as the patient is compliant. It also matters what kind of cross bite your child has. Is it a posterior or an anterior? Most anterior cross bites are better being treated as soon as possible, but posterior ones can most of the time have different plans of treatment. It would be a good time to go to an orthodontist.
Avatar m tn I made appointments with other orthodontics and some oral surgeons but have not had any luck. Its had me really depressed. He also left the braces on 8 years and it damaged my teeth I need full mouth implants and cant afford it. My left side of my palate is wider than the right side. The right side has a knot on my palate from where the arm of the expander cut into it. I tried sueing him but its hard finding a lawyer.
Avatar n tn I'm a year into orthodontics now....and have been doing the best dental hygiene I can, using pre-rinse, proxy brushing, regular brushing, flossing, and a fluoride mouthwash. The fluoride mouthwash is what I wanted to ask about. I've been using Listerine Defense, but I find that it is too strong...I've read that you shouldn't water down any fluoride mouthwash...is that true? Is there any other mouthwash that you would recommend?
Avatar f tn Did anyone get there teeth done during pregnancy? My dentist wants me to get my cavities and the deep cleaning is it safe?
Avatar n tn I am about 6 months into orthodontic treatment using Invisalign. I have an open-bite and receeded chin which causes me to have mild lip and chin strain when closing my mouth. After about a month wearing the aligners I realized they just added too much more strain to my lips and chin when closing my mouth.
Avatar n tn This is going to sound bizzare, but please hang with me. I am stressing over this. I have obssesive compulsive disorder, in the sense that I fixate on certain things. Additionally I have a pretty severe overbite, meaning my "bites" are jutted forward from my "normal bite" which is when my lower jaw is all the way back.
440728 tn?1234645302 Dear Doctor, my child has been given an upper an lower twin block brace for a 6mm overbite between the upper and lower front teeth. Her front teeth however are not protruding and her upper front teeth only cover the very tips of the lower teeth. She also has some slight discomfort in her jaw and a tiny click. Apart from that she only has 2 teeth out of alignment, the rest are quite neat. I want to ask if this block brace is absolutely necessary, as it's very uncomfortable for her.
498623 tn?1212932319 The pain never really goes away, its very consistent. I technically have only four teeth that touch (the back four) so I think I have over worked the joints and muscles in my jaw. I am to the point where I have to get cortisone injections in my jaw joint every three months to try and ease the pain.. and that doesn't fully take the pain away.. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help this terrible terrible pain???
Avatar f tn But the Soothies are great, most families I know have them. I work with infants for a living. Avent orthodontics are another popular one.
Avatar f tn Dentists also provide other types of apparatus to help TMJ and sometimes braces can help if you either never had braces or your teeth have moved from the proper position. Just fixing the teeth with orthodontics may get rid of the pain entirely.
560282 tn?1215976608 I think that one particular tooth (under a fang so this tooth is slightly more back than the rest of my teeth) is loose when it really isn't. My dentist checked my tooth a few days back and said it feels quite solid and not loose, so why am i feeling this way? Also i can't help physically checking the tooth with my fingers, will this cause it damage? This only started when i had severe toothache from another tooth which is now thankfully sorted.
