Common Questions and Answers about Brown skin spots during pregnancy

skin

Avatar f tn Are they itchy or anything? I know that there are many skin changes during pregnancy...it almost sounds like your getting "the mask of pregnancy" just not on your face. Are the spots raised up at all or irritated? I would speak with your doctor for sure to see what it is.
Avatar m tn Brown spots during pregnancy is normal. Just to keep you mind at ease just show it to your doctor at your next visit. Good luck.
Avatar n tn The doctor will remove a layer of skin so that the new layer can thrive and fill in the wrinkles or spots. During the consultation, the doctor will observe your skin tone which determines the correct laser needed to eliminate your age spots. You will have to give it at least a month for the results to show because the skin cell turn-over time is about 28 days. ref:http://www.articlesbase.com/medicine-articles/laser-resurfacing-for-age-spots-and-brown-spots-472827.

Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination,it is difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but from your description ,it looks like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation(the skin darkens because of an overproduction of melanin (a pigment that occurs naturally in the body) in reaction to inflammation) , liver spots(flat brown-black spots that usually occur in sun-exposed areas of the body.

341551 tn?1266980730 Yea it is very scary looking...its strange though, they are only on my legs. But they started out as spots and now seem to be taking over my entire legs! It definitely freaks me out but I've done a lot of research on it and seems to be the "mask of pregnancy" if you look that up, it explains the random brown spots that appear on your body. I definitely plan on showing my doctor at my next Prenatal, but in the meantime I'm just thinking its normal and part of Pregnancy!
Avatar f tn Are you trying to lighten spots? I had melasma during my first pregnancy (mask of pregnancy and had darkening spots on my face. :>( ) I went to a dermatologist for it who basically said that lightening creams don't really work when applied to a spot. Because it is really hard to get it just where you need it and lightens all the skin around the spot too, so spot is still noticable. I waited until I gave birth to see if it went away and it did.
Avatar f tn It does fade and eventually go away after your baby is born. Took nearly a year for mine to go.
1714912 tn?1308691554 Hello, Neurofibromatosis-1 is an inherited disorder in which nerve tissue tumors (neurofibromas) form in the skin and subcutaneous tissue. It presents with café au lait spots that present as pigmented, light brown macules located on nerves, with smooth edged, "coast of California". Hence if her margins are irregular then a biopsy of the lesion and gene mapping can be done to confirm the diagnosis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar n tn ” If you have melasma you’re probably experiencing light brown, dark brown and/or blue-gray patches on your skin. They can appear as flat patches or freckle-like spots. Commonly affected areas include your face, including the cheeks, upper lip and forehead, as well as the forearms. Melasma is sometimes called the “mask of pregnancy” because it frequently affects pregnant women. Melasma typically darkens and lightens over time, often getting worse in the summer and better in the winter.

Avatar m tn For as long as I can remember I have had a small brown mark in a certain spot on my penis. I never inspected my penis up close until recently and noticed more brown spots on the underside and some on the penis head. I doubt they are an STD since I have had the one since before I remember, can anyone shed light as to what they are? Am I the only one with them?
Avatar n tn have you had any symptoms like weight gain, tender breast or dry skin? anything like brown spots on your face? (mask of pregnancy is something that can happen during a hormone imbalance). Do you have a doctor that you can see to help with this issue to determine why you don't have a period and ways to get you going again?
Avatar f tn Since mid April I noticed some small brown spots under my breast. No pain or itching. As the months have gone by, there are more and more in clusters. I now have the spots in my arm pits and vulva. I am on the 3 different cream and nothing is helping. The other development is my tongue is white like yeast but tested negative. I have been on 2 rounds of antibiotics and yeast infection pills, mouth rinse. Still there.
Avatar f tn I have these brown spots on my face for the las few years. Finally i decided to do peeling with a dermatologist, after the fisrt section it stared to get a bit lighter, and i always use sunblock and a long hat covering my face, but even thought i noticed that the spots are still getting dark just by going out side on the shade. Do you think peeling really works for that or I am just trowing my money on the trash?
Avatar m tn Hi I get these very small brown spots all along the upper side of both my index fingers...they are like very small blood blisters which after a few days dry out and the skin flakes around them. I've come to the conclusion that this is what they are and their cause is from gripping a hot steering wheel during the summer which causes the capillaries to burst and form these very small blood blisters. I only get them during the summer and once the temperature drops they go away.
Avatar m tn He was working in a steal factory when the spots first appeared. I just wanted to know if it could be another skin condition other than age spots? And some direction on how to proceed from there.
Avatar m tn I've noticed that when I am out in the sun for prolonged periods of time brown spots form on my face. Over time they get darker/larger and turn into birthmarks. How can I prevent these from forming, and if I used a low SPF sunblock to prevent these, would I still be able to be out in the sun a lot without the formation of these spots. I am 17 by the way.
Avatar f tn Hello, The treatment for such dark spots and hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. As you have a sensitive skin,so any of these is not recommended.Apply calamine lotion and aloe gel. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. Avoid picking, harsh scrubbing, and abrasive treatments unless prescribed by a dermatologist during this period.
1453081 tn?1285116611 Are the marks on the dog's belly? Do they appear in the summer, and fade in the winter? If so, I do believe they are a kind of "freckle" (canine equivalent of a "suntan") I had a white dog. He always got brown 'spots' on his belly in the summer, and they went away in the winter. They were not a sign of skin cancer, but harmless. I now have a blonde dog. She gets the same.
Avatar f tn Hello, Such brown splotches can be due to hyperpigmentation of the skin or sun spots or lentigenes. Sun spots or lentigines, are harmless, flat, brown discolorations of the skin which usually occur in people older than 40 years of age. They are caused by the skin being exposed to the sun over many years and are a sigh of sun damage. The only way to prevent age spots is to use liberal amounts of sunscreen before the age of forty, avoid the sun, and wear protective clothing.
