Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
Avatar m tn The result was a double compound fracture of my right leg. Both major bones were broken and exposed about an inch about the ankle joint. Fortunately for me, when I arrived at the hospital, one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Las Vegas was on call. Two years, two surgeries (about 8 hours worth), a bone graft and six months in a wheel chair I am walking much better than I could have expected. My question; I generally wear softer soled shoes ( walking tennies, etc.
Avatar f tn The usual period for healing is around 6-8 weeks, but lower leg fractures take a little more to recover. The initial one week period is also taken into account. Follow up is advised every two weeks to see whether alignment is proper or not. In case of misalignment found at any point of treatment surgery might be necessary. Hope this information was helpful. Best.
Avatar f tn t running marathons or even walking the dog very far...but having this new leg pain( it has me almost in tears) is new/unexpected . Wondering if any one is using a wheelchair a lot or a bit, or has bad leg pain as well. Thanks.
Avatar f tn It pops when i squat down or still hurts walking too much or up and down stairs. Also i can move my leg around and it pops. And during alone time with my husband you can hear it pop. It has been about 6 years since it broke. Now you have me thinking about mine when my baby drops or birth. I already have an 11yr old so, i had nothing to worry about their.
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar m tn t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
Avatar m tn My poor Leo, his front left leg and paw are very swollen! The story goes like this... About a week ago he took a fall from our room while chasing squirles., Well the LEG was slightly swollen for just a little while. Maybe day and half. but then he was fine. walking, jumping, and chasing those dang squirles again. lol I thought he was fine. Well today I get home from work and his poor leg and paw r so swollen. Im afraid he has broken it.
Avatar n tn I put ice on it for 20 minutes and kept the leg elevated during this time. The pain was localized to the area of the broken skin. A few days later, a scab formed where the skin was broken, and although the area still hurt when pressed, I had no problems walking, jogging or swimming. Five days after the injury though, my left knee cap began to hurt. There was even a tingling sensation from above the knee cap down to the shin (left lateral).
Avatar n tn About five years ago I broke my right tibia. It didn't heal properly and after six months a rod was inserted. After a year I was back to playing tennis, golf, etc. I had it x-rayed about 1 year ago after a spell of aching. The orthopedist said I could have the rod removed but advised against it. Recently it has started to ache quite a bit. I did drive about 600 miles with few stops and that night it ached almost as much as the night I originally broke it and before the cast was put on.
Avatar m tn I can walk without crutches I do have a bit of a limp at the minute. Walking up stairs is a little more difficult I have to step good leg first. My fib is still broken and I hear it click when I walk. I was told this is normal and it will heal on its own and not to worry about it. I stopped using crutches after 3 weeks (only used them for really long walks) what I did to help walking is stand with my crutches but not using them, Then shift my weight over to the bad foot.
195500 tn?1257427532 Hi, My 12-14 year old beagle (we adopted her, so don't know her exact age) fell down our stairs Sunday. Basically, I was carrying her down before we went out and I fell down the stairs with her. Sunday night she walked a little slow, but mostly she just looked like she was sore, and seeing how I felt, I didn't blame her. Yesterday, her walking was pretty much back to normal, but I noticed her tail was constantly between her legs, hung down.
209987 tn?1451935465 i broken my leg now have severe bruising in leg and now in my foot which is badly swollen is this normal after fall
Avatar n tn and 2 weeks of rest (walking a little but taking it easy) I am still in so much pain. I have seen my primary care doctor but she just tells me all this pain is "normal". I have not had a regular bowel ,movement in over 3 weeks. I have diahrea and even that hurts so much I cry. I am having shooting pains in my right leg. I can only stand for so llong w/out pain, and I can only sit o the doughnut for so long w/out pain. When I got my period it was hell.
Avatar f tn The only thing that gives me relief is pushing both feet against the wall and applying pressure. I walk like a have a broken leg or something cuz the pain is horrible even during the day. Apparently they have these weird stocking that helps with blood circulation.
Avatar f tn i realized why it was swelling and i had sooo much pain in my leg. I was basically walking, running, and playing around on a broken bone. Wow. I really do thank you for sharing your comment with me. I wish you the best of luck of trying to find out why the edema stopped. But its great to here you only just the little triggers.
Avatar f tn My friends noticed I had this kind of “unusual walking” several years ago, asking me if my leg/feet hurts, but answers them no/not. I haven’t paid so much attention to it because I haven’t feel any pain on my legs/feet on that time. It’s just that these months or maybe a year ago, that I started to feel the pain on my legs. Actually, it’s not pain that I felt but more on the tiredness of my legs. It lacks energy to support my body when walking.
Avatar f tn How much walking is too much at 22wks? I have much walking to do, just a lil concerned on how my baby will be?
Avatar n tn they are not broken cause he was walking on them couple of days then out of nowhere he quit walking on them and yes he was walking on them when he got that cut...and we are taking him to a vet!!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what causes leg pain every time I stand up and walk that gets worse until I have to sit down or elevate my legs? The pain is like heavy squeezing throughout both legs, that makes my legs get so heavy and stiff they are hard to move. I can not walk more than about 30 minutes. The skin on my legs gets flushed, when I stand or walk, and the redness fades away when I elevate my legs. The hair stopped growing on both legs and the skin feels cold.
Avatar m tn I underwent open reduction and internal fixation with a T-plate and screws on the same evening, and was discharged walking with crutches 5 days later. 5 weeks later ie last week, X-Rays showed ''fixation solid with early healing'' (surgeon's words.) They took off the cast and gave me a cloth brace which grips my lower shin and ankle and most of the foot very tight. It is tight enough to cause some pain, though I take it off at night and put it back on in the morning.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago I had an accident, I feel off a Quattrocycle and the wheel ran over my ankle twisting my leg. Bruising came out straight away and a little swelling, I rested leg for a few days and continued walking with a little pain thereafter .
Avatar f tn He says there is a risk the plate will break if I keep walking on a broken leg, so I need to make my decision quickly as to surgery. I appreciate your opinion/help greatly. You can imagine my stress level. This discussion is related to Angulated fix of femur.
