1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar n tn What kind of dog is your puppy and what size? Do the other's wrestle with him? Are they much larger? Have you seen him get hurt by the other dogs before? Anything else? Is he limping? Has he pooped today? How bout yesterday? What did it look like? More info. would be helpful..... No, I don't think his tail is broke.........
Avatar f tn I got up this morning to discover a whining puppy huddled against my front door. I investigated and he appears to be an approximately 3-4 month old Pit Bull pup. He has an injury to his right front leg, the skin seems to have been stripped from the surface and a strip of it is still attached but hanging from his leg. He is very cold and clearly malnourished.
Avatar n tn Sorry to hear about your puppy's mishap. Here is a web address for a page with dozens and dozens of links for organizations that provide charitable care for pets whose owners can't afford expensive treatments. Hopefully one of them will be able to provide you with assistance for your puppy. http://www.pgaa.com/animalhelp.
Avatar n tn My westie puppy was born normal. She is now 3 days old and I notice one of her closed eyes are bulging out. What do you recommend. Do you think the dam might have stepped on her?

Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago, our puppy was run over by a truck. He suffered several broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a severly broken forearm. We are not able to take him to a vet. In nursing him 24 hours a day, he has pulled through nicely and is wanting to get back to being a puppy. My question lies with his forearm. the bone seems to be heeling well, it's got a nice calcium ball however it's still "crunches" if manipulated. It sort of hangs from the shoulder when he stands.

Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.
Avatar m tn t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
Avatar m tn He then explained to me that since she has had leg surgery to fix a broken leg bone, that she probably raises her leg as a reflex in a way to alleviate the pain she may feel, on and off, in her abdomen. If in two weeks there is no improvement or throughout the days she gets worst then we'd do x-rays and maybe even an ultrasound. Regardless I thank you for taking the time to help and clarify things for us pet owners. Your help is much appreciated.
Avatar f tn Two days ago my12 week old male golden retriever puppy started sleeping all day, no energy, and started crying when I touched around his face, mostly around his jaw. We took him to the vet and they did all sorts of tests, blood, xrays to see if his jaw was dislocated or broken because he was in a lot of pain, he could not even eat because it hurt him to open his mouth, but there was nothing abnormal on the xrays.
Avatar n tn The standard response is that the brain cells that were just knocked unconscious usually come back in six months. The recovery of functions that were controlled by the now dead brain cells will require your brain to work on neuroplasticity, basically moving control to another part of your brain. That change can take a long time, I have heard of cases 15-20 years after a stroke and recovery can still take place.
