My injuries were, a broken Clavicle (which was treated with a plate and 12 screws) A punctured lung and laserated liver. 11 broken ribs (6 of which were plated. With a total of 42 screws currently holding them together) And last, not least.... A broken pelvis. I am writing you hoping you still read this, desperate for your answers!! I do not recall doing anything... physically to disrupt the placement of the screws. I noticed the bump tho. It's new...
so my docter did surgery one year later, he took the nail out of my leg and replaced it with a plate and and screws, during surgery he broke my fibula to get the plate in place. i dont no why he did it but my tibia feels alot better and now my fibula is broken, my question is has anyone ever had a corrective surgery on there tibia and had there fibula broken. And how long does it take for the fib to heal and am i screwed ? i dont know what to do.
cant really say for sure if his ankle is broken or not. He actually first injured his foot 3wks ago, and everytime he walks or runs especially he says it hurts pretty bad. (He tolerates pain VERY well) The dr says he cant see if the growth plate is broke or not, and he said the long bone looks fractured but he said he doubts it is due to the fact that my son said he doesnt hurt there. His ankle is swollen now..
About 8 months ago I had a very serious surgery that left 4 screws in my pelvis and 4 screws in my femur and a rod in my femur, my leg was broken in 3 places and my pelvic ring was broken. I am pretty much fully recovered but I still find it hard to walk fast and for long periods of time, my knee starts to hurt. I was thinking taking the screws and rods out of my leg would help me walk better. How long do they have to stay in before I can have them taken out?
Has anyone broken their Tibia and fibia? I broke mine two years ago and am still having problems. I have a plate and eleven screws. I am thinking of having them taken out in the hopes that it will releive some of the discomfort. Any information from someone who has done this would be great.
I had surgery to fix my broken radius and ulna, a plate was inserted and it's been in a half cast for 2 months. That arm has excessive hair growing on the broken area...is this because of the tensor/fiberglass cast covering or a result of the surgery and the plate being in my arm? Is there anything I can do to reduce the hair growth?

t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
I've had my left ankle broken on sept 29, it was a fibula frature with a tibia dislocation, was on splint for a week, had surgery on oct 7th,plate + screws + a very long screw to place my tibia on the right place, splint for another week, then my orthopedist put me on aircast Air Stirrup Universe since then. He told me to start physical therapy a week after surgery, but I waited until 2 weeks. Now my foot hurts on an area that has nothing to do with the fracture.
Anyway I have nothing holding the broken femur they took all hardware out five years ago they found infection under the plate so they treated me with six weeks of vagomyason. I m getting worried about infection. my leg doesnt have fever but could infection be doing damage to my body without me knowing it?
I still have a plate and several screws left in the leg, but I only experience pain in that area when i apply pressure to the plate itself. Everything I've read points to arthritis but I fell like I'm much to you for that, is it possible that I'm just going to be in some form of pain just from the injury itself for the duration? Also, I have absolutely no idea what type of doctor to go to for this. Would it be wise to go to an ortho or a pain specialist?
After therapy and months of healing he has finally regained movement of the fingers but has major pain and limited shoulder movement. My question is can the plate and screws be removed? Is it possible that the screws and or plate could be touching nerves that have healed around it causing the pain?

It's very subjective to say just "one side of the leg" a minor leg length discrepancy may have resulted from the original injury which may have created additional stresses on that "leg". It is very important to be forthcoming and quite descriptive with your treating physician so that he or she may diagnose and treat the symptoms properly. A confrontational attitude will only result in a shorter visit, remember they are there to help you.
The doctors at the local hospital placed a steel rod Inside the broken tibia and held it in place with 3 pins (after little research I think it is called an Intramedullary rod). For the first 3-4 years I didn't notice the the metal in my leg and lived a normal life each day, i.e. running, mild gymnastics training, caring for my elderly father(heavy lifting), and the life of a 16-20 year old. I am now almost 21.
suffered broken ankle in May 2010. Had surgery with plate and screws to fix. 2 weeks no weight bareing, 8 + weeks in camwalker boot - weight bearing as tolerated. Discarding one crutch, within a couple of weeks the femur broke just below the tip of the prosthesis ( no incident), A 10 inch plate was inserted. Rehab was on track as of before, with one crutch being used for August. However pain developed and in December x-rays revealed the stainless steel plate had broken (no incident). Two plates were then inserted ( along with 14 screws and 5 tie-wires).
hi i broke my tibia and fibula waited almost 3 weeks for surgery cause it was swollen got screws and a plate they put me in a splint a week later i took the splint off i hated it now i have a follow up appt which they will put a full cast but i dont want it

I made her stand up and try to stretch it but got no real ease. She had a broken ankle 20 years ago. It has a plate, wires, pins and screws. She said the pain was above the plate, like an extreme cramp or someone was trying to pull the metal out of her!
