Last night we opened our backdoor to find a stray kitty (adolescent male). I noticed he was malnourished and gave him some milk and chicken (all I had for an animal). Then I noticed he was favoring one leg. I think it might be broken! I've called a few places and no one wants to deal with him, of course. They're just going to want to euthanize him instead of help him.
So my question is this--- what do I do?!?!?!?!
t vaccinate his dog regularly. If there was blood and the dog got saliva in the blood in your leg (if the skin was broken) you are at risk. But, you can call the police and have them make the guy monitor the dog for 10 days for symptoms and call the animal control about it. They will tell him the symptoms to look for in the dog. If the dog has no symptoms you will be ok. but then by the time you develop symptoms it is too late (there is no treatment at this stage).
Agree it should be removed but that sounds excessive!! I would check around.
Haven't addressed this fir a long time but I think there are different types of stones that require different diets. You may want to look that up.
It was a while ago,but when I helped with greyhound rescue, one of our Foster homes had a Grey with stones. Granted, we had a Vet that worked with us but it was no where that fee!

My dog sanderalla she is a poddel/poddel tarrier. Just over night she was sleeping under our big dumpster and the next day after i got out of work i keepted looking for her and about 1 hour later i seen her draging her but i went out to ger her and notested she was draging her back ledges. she dont seem to be in and pain she is eating and dranking and potting. I felt the ledes and i felt no broken bones i squzed her feet she polded it back but i thank she only feels pressure.
for about the last 3 weeks my dog rudy has been limping and favoring his left back leg/paw???? I have looked several times there are no splinters, cuts, or bruises that I can see. it seems to be worse in the morninings or after long peroids of rest. he wont walk on that leg.. I aint got no money for a vet, I hate to see him hurting, i have had him 10 years, any thoughts or suggestions?
Is a broken leg (3 places) and Pneumothorax an automatic death sentence if they removed the air once and i filled up again The x-ray showed about l1/2 ins of space between the stomach wall and lung.
Binx was hit by a car and they put him to sleep It wasn't because it would cost to much to Fix him either, it wasn't brought up.
Just wondering if we did the right thing by fully trusting the Vet.
Is he holding the leg up or is he actually dragging the leg? Here's what to do:
Stand him up on all four legs...Turn the bad foot under where he's standing on top of the paw....See if he can flip it back to the correct position.....If not: Read further.....
This sounds like a disk injury to me......Google IVDD (Intervertabral Disk Disease) and read about it...
My own dog took this after a broken leg and it did her so much good. In damp weather she had started to favour that leg a little sometimes. As soon as she took the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement, it took about one week to see a great improvement. After that, she had no more trouble with that leg.
She weighed 30lbs, and the correct maximum dosage for her was 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin once daily.
She used to limp very slightly on a back leg which was once broken when she was younger. The vet said she would probably grow to develop arthritis in that leg, and it did seem things might be going that way, as any change in the weather to dampness, had her 'hitching' up that leg sometimes. My dog has allergy and now she developed a black/dark brown thick and rough crust just superficially attached to the skin. It's about 2cm diametre on the leg near the armpit. It is broken on the side and when I try to open slightly, is easy to see that will hurt/bleed. Does anybody could give me some advice?
A few of you asked to be updated on the kitty cat I found (or I should, "Who found us!"). We just got back from the vet. He got vaccinated, medication for an infection in his ears, de-wormer stuff, and x-rays. The x-rays showed a BB pellet lodged in the cat's chest, but that isn't something we have to worry about. But I was absolutely livid inside when the vet told me.
Can you determine that the leg isn't broken? Will he let you move the leg at the hip joint? If he isn't acting like he is in severe pain, will eat and drink. I would try keeping him quiet and only take him out to potty. You know your dog best so you would have to make a judgement call as to if he needs the Vet.
my dog just had quite a big leg surgery and had two stitches in her chest as a dog attacked her , her chest is red and I m not sure if this is normal, she had the operation a day ago , I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen before and would let me know if this is normal or concerning please thank you . With a large dog and a front leg, I have no idea if it is recommended or not. Some dogs do not do well with front leg amputation, and it may not be feasible.
Have your vet refer you to a veterinary oncologist to get an assesment and realistic idea of what needs to happen now. Our local vet gave us no hope at all, but the oncologist encouraged us to try, and our dog lived several more years as a result. He actually died from something else unrelated.
I would call the vet that I wanted to use, ask how much is the charge for an office visit and simple physical exam, then take the dog in, and ask the vet what else he wants to do and how much it will cost. If you want to, you can call around and see who has the cheapest office visit fee. Usually their other fees will be lower, if the OV fee is lower.
Right now we are trying to avoid each other as much as possible the breakup was basically her not feeling the same way for me anymore. I am totally lost. We have a dog together also which she now took ownership of and the dog stays with her in her room. Currently everyday after work i go straight to the park to mountain bike and dont come home until 7pm and she is usually at her grandmothers until sometime after i have gone to bed. I don't know if we are doing all this correctly.
