broken-leg

About a year later they were removed since you could see the screws thru my skin and they were sticking out a bit. I noticed after i healed from the broken leg that i am now bow legged really badly. Since then i've also found i am unable to walk alot without my ankle and lower leg swelling up and cause pain. I started working out recently (water arobics and the machines) thinking this would help and it hasn't, if anything its made it worse.
I think it may be due to her leg being elevated but doesn't really seem too likely. Is this normal for a broken toe? Should we go to the emergency room or wait for our next appt on Monday?
The result was a double compound fracture of my right leg. Both major bones were broken and exposed about an inch about the ankle joint. Fortunately for me, when I arrived at the hospital, one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Las Vegas was on call. Two years, two surgeries (about 8 hours worth), a bone graft and six months in a wheel chair I am walking much better than I could have expected. My question; I generally wear softer soled shoes ( walking tennies, etc.
my 8 year old daughter broke her toe on sunday and since last night her leg has been really cold from the knee down, her other leg is warm as usual. She also has some pins and needles in her foot.Last night her foot and leg were almost icy.Could this be a complication from the toe?
im 40yrs old and broke my tibia mid shaft there wasnt displacement but cause im an active person i chose to get a internal fixation rod with two screws one below the knee and the other above the ankle. i was told by the doctor i would be on my feet quicker than if i was to get the full leg cast.
My son 5 years old broke his leg 8 weeks ago. A week ago my doctor said that he lost some bone density in his foot bones and that he need to walk on hdi foot. He complains that his foot hurt and walk very hard. Is this normal!!!

Hey Six weeks ago I broke my fibula and today when I went to the hospital to get my cast taken off, the doctor said that after 6 weeks my bone was probably only 70 percent healed. I was wondering when It wil be 100 percent healed so I can go back to snowboarding.
I am so sorry you are in pain honey. Do you have anyone who can hold the pills for you?
However, if there are multiple injuries, and the growth plate is crushed, then you can expect some shortening of the leg. This can be later corrected by bone grafting. They told me 6 weeks to heal before i get cast off, but i was in a splint style cast for the first week, does that count as one week? and also should nt have the doctor have asked me to come in for check up x-rays just to make sure the bone is healing properly? i live in a small community was treated by a regular doctor a i think.Do u think ill need an aircast after i get regular cast off or is that just optional?
Since surgery there has been minimal pain in my ankle (although a momentous amount of bruising along my leg) It appears that I'm experiencing a great deal of pain in my knee. Today it felt as if I had twisted it, and when is later tried to bend my knee, I had the most excruciating pain as if it was out of place or something in my knee had moved. I'm curious as to whether anyone else has experienced this while recovering from a broken talus?
Has anyone broken their Tibia and fibia? I broke mine two years ago and am still having problems. I have a plate and eleven screws. I am thinking of having them taken out in the hopes that it will releive some of the discomfort. Any information from someone who has done this would be great.
Two months ago I fractured C4, 5 and 6, surgury was required where they used rods and plates and one bone graft to fix my injury, everything came back as the bruising on my spine went down. Three days ago I went to the orthopedist for an appointment and the doctor said it was time I started keeping my neck brace off whille I was at home but I still have to wear it when Im in a vehicle for a further two months.
I recently posted a question about my broken penis and was told that this is called a penile fracture. The tear could be surgically repaired by a Urologist. I am being treated by the VA Hospital here in my area and am told by them that the repair is done with needles by injection. They also stated that the tear may not be able to be repaired. Am I being misinformed by the doctor there.
It feels like iv done something more then just bruise or twist it because its gradually getting worse, iv broken my leg before and it kinda feels like that. Im a lifeguard and am worried that this is affecting my work, also soeone at work suggested i might have injured my 'scaphoid bone' (spelt wrong) does this sound possible?
I was just looking for a second opinion on 1. When I will be able to run 2. When I can play contact sports (rugby, because I know my doctor doesn't want me to play) 3. Ridiculously enough-when can I wear heels?!
I've had my left ankle broken on sept 29, it was a fibula frature with a tibia dislocation, was on splint for a week, had surgery on oct 7th,plate + screws + a very long screw to place my tibia on the right place, splint for another week, then my orthopedist put me on aircast Air Stirrup Universe since then. He told me to start physical therapy a week after surgery, but I waited until 2 weeks. Now my foot hurts on an area that has nothing to do with the fracture.
and 2 weeks of rest (walking a little but taking it easy) I am still in so much pain. I have seen my primary care doctor but she just tells me all this pain is "normal". I have not had a regular bowel ,movement in over 3 weeks. I have diahrea and even that hurts so much I cry. I am having shooting pains in my right leg. I can only stand for so llong w/out pain, and I can only sit o the doughnut for so long w/out pain. When I got my period it was hell.
then step 2 is sub-diving the can-do's into priorities or the methods you will use to take care of the problem. So, the old bicycle with a broken seat and a flat tire -that goes into "can do" because the repairs seem pretty straightforward and the results will be like a new bike. But it gets a low priority because there are more important things. Anyway, this process I'll call CLASSIFICATION. Separate and CLASSIFY.
I had an appointment with a orthopedic doctor today, and he told me I need surgery to repair my broken leg ASAP... but I'm 4 months pregnant. I'm 37 years old and this is my 1st pregnancy. What are the risks to my baby if I go under general anesthesia??
When he arrived they discovered he was alergic to morphine, so instead switched to codeine. He was then by a doctor that they would be able to pin his leg and perform a skin draft operation to patch up the missing flesh - which sounded like the best option, as he would prefer to have 1 leg rather than none. Te doctor then went on holiday for a further 2 weeks, so Albert was left sat in a hospital bed without treatment for the break until the doctor returned.
I've broken my leg. Doctros said that tibia is okay. But I wonder about my fibula. It is quite dislocated. RTG: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/846/capturefcm.png/ What should I do? Should go to private clinic??? Please help me!
I have realised how much this is all connected to the broken leg and weak ankle, but I am now lost as to what to do. I would like to not accept this as how I shall be for the rest of my life, but I am starting to wonder. I was thinking that an Osteopath could be good by getting my hips, lower back, buttock region back into alignment? (And hey I have tried the other obvious solutions!
I'm 21 old had a severe injury to my left leg tibia & fibula in motor bike accident got hit a lorry.. Broken Tibia bone came out making a hole in my skin, i had lost blood... Then i has surgery after 12 hrs, with a rod & 2 nails inserted only for Tibia, but they did nothing to broken fibula... Now after 11 months, I'm walking normally but still i cant run, jump & unable to climb stairs quickly... Please tell me, 1. when can i run & able climb stairs quickly? 2.
When I finally got the surgery and after seeing an X-ray of my leg I had some questions from my own. I asked the doctor why my fibula looked like is still broken. The response was that the fibula was already healing and there was no reason to attach pins or screws to it. I just wanted to have an opinion to make sure that I will not have problems in the future with my leg because of the fibula bone is now on that position( not completed aligned). Thanks.
Go to a Orthopedic doctor!
I got hit in the face with a softball 14 days ago and am still nauseous. Cannot stand on one leg with eyes closed, and have forgotten things like PIN numbers, passwords etc. I went back to GP who sent me to A&E for checking out, but they said just concussion, no evidence of bleeding. I've developed a stiff neck too. I did also break my nose, which was realigned under local anaesthetic 6 days ago. No LOC. No actual vomiting. Anything I can do to help the symptoms? Just rest rest rest?
