Avatar m tn I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.

Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? The regular cast is only continued if your doctor feels that healing is not complete, and if he feels it complete then you are advised to use crutches. The usual period for healing is around 6-8 weeks, but lower leg fractures take a little more to recover. The initial one week period is also taken into account. Follow up is advised every two weeks to see whether alignment is proper or not. In case of misalignment found at any point of treatment surgery might be necessary.
Avatar m tn She jumped off of a chair and broke her front leg. The vet said the cast would be enough and the surgery is not required. However the x-ray shows that the bones are not aligned perfectly. I understand that he is a professional but I have already had experience with some incompetent vets and cannot rule out this one to be another example. I will probably get an advise from another vet but also want to hear your opinions. Has anyone had the same kind of problem? Here are the x-ray shots.

Avatar f tn I try very hard to limit my movement during the day and keep my foot up but still by about 7pm my discomfort is intense with a very tight cast, pain in the leg and numb toes. Is what I am experiencing normal or should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn they constantly rotated her legs and stretched them out again to check her hips before fracture was dianosed. then they put a cast on on the bottom of her leg instead of the top. would all of these mistakes have made the fracture worse than it originally was.
1700740 tn?1307135333 I had an emergency operation. Now I am wearing a cast. My feet are always tingling and feeling cold. How can I stop it from doing that because I can't take it anymore? Other than my broken ankle and leg I am healthy.
Avatar n tn Dear Sir, I broke by tibia and fibula 7 weeks ago. I was slipping on black ice why trying to catch the bus. Two plates have been inserted one in each bone. The cast is off since one week but I am not allowed to out weight on this leg for 3-4 more weeks. The muscle of my sole is very stiff and this results in my firsy and espacially the second toe gets very stiffed and bended. I am making some massage and exercises given by PT.
Avatar f tn In 2007 I badly broke my leg (my toes were touching my knee bad), I was in a cast for almost my entire seventh grade year and for the first four or so months I had to be in a wheelchair with the cast up to my thigh. I started to be able to move around really well after the first month and about two or so months before they put me in a boot i was able to jump around my house on one leg for very long distances and then eventually walk around on my cast.
Avatar n tn s been in a half cast for 2 months. That arm has excessive hair growing on the broken area...is this because of the tensor/fiberglass cast covering or a result of the surgery and the plate being in my arm? Is there anything I can do to reduce the hair growth?
Avatar m tn I was told these breaks are pretty serious and if not taken care of you can end up with pain for the rest of your life and have a walking cane.. I dont think you want a brace on your leg so tight it hurts.. You need a soft cast with some room for the swelling. keep it elevated!!!!
Avatar n tn Hi there! Aside the immobilization of the bones, immobilization of the joints the bones directly or indirectly articulate with (i.e. knee and ankle joint) would also be required to prevent movement and promote healing. Hence the need for a long leg cast in your case. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn I broke three fingers on my right. Ihave three pins in my little finger, three pins in my ring finger, my middle finger is also broken but didn't require pins. They are all broken in the first bone right above the knuckle.I am very concerned about the mobility of my hand after the pins come out. Next week is my surgery to have them removed.
Avatar n tn Two days ago I fell down my stairs. The top of my foot and both sides of my ankle are swollen and bruised. Yesterday I needed crutches to get around. Today I can limp around, however, it still hurts like crazy. I don't have any medical insurance. How can I tell if it's broken or sprained. I don't have or want to spend the money to see a doctor only to get sent home with a sprained foot/ankle. Please help. I have a 2 yr old that doesnt sit down for anything. I need this to go away.
Avatar f tn I fractured the lower part of my fibula near the growth plate one week ago, and was in a Splint for 3 days.
Avatar f tn And the hellish anxiety I completely understand. It felt like I wanted to jump out of my skin and take off running and screaming. Fortunately it started to get better, and after the ativan was gone I just dropped it and didn't think about asking for more. Now, I'm not in a long leg cast and can't imagine what it must be like. I do have a broken left knee cap and cracked tibia from a work injury last June. Fell off a ladder.
Avatar f tn serial biweekly radiographs to rule out displacement. Cast (long or short) until healed (usually ≥12 wk in adults). I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Alberts leg was operated on, pinned and had a large cage put over his leg, as aposed to a cast to allow the doctors to continue the work on his wound. 2 weeks after this surgery, Albert was asked to put his weight on the leg to see how it feels. He was assisted by nurses to his feet, and then allowed to stand on his own. This broke the leg for a second time, as the bones were not yet strong enough to hold his weight. So, back into surgery to have it re-set.
Avatar m tn Hello. I fractured my calcaneous in December...on a kayaking trip. I jumped (and fell) off of a boulder. It was not displaced, but not diagnosed either. It was fractured in 3 pieces. When it was diagnosed 8 weeks later, the ortho indicated that I was fortunate, in that, I did get appropriate treatment. I was immobilized for 1 week, cast for 3 weeks. 3 weeks later, back in a boot for 3-4 weeks. I had been prescribed P.T.
1196614 tn?1265075773 Greetings, So here's what happened to me and my current concerns: I had a auto accident and I broke the tibia and fibula bones. After 12 days in the hospital without having the surgery on my leg I was told by the doctors that it wouldn't matter the long waiting...Ok so, when I finally got the surgery and after seeing an X-ray of my leg I had some questions from my own. I asked the doctor why my fibula looked like is still broken on the x-ray.
