milk

Avatar f tn 'Breast is best' is an old saying that rings true… I nursed all my kids and was able to pump when I returned to school (work really - I'm a teacher). Ultimately you're going to need to do what works for you. For me I had no idea if I was going to be able to nurse or wanted to or any of that… I took it one day at a time and had success. I found a ton of support on this sight as well. I reached out to those around me and took things one day at a time.
9171754 tn?1412569817 I tried to breast feed with my first but he was allergic. Ended up in the hospital several times :( I didn't have a choice but to do formula. now I am on my second pregnancy going to try and breast feed, but bottle feed when my husband wants to help.
Avatar f tn You have probably seen all the reasons. Formula tastes nasty compared to breast milk, too. Get the best quality formula you can afford, if you go that route.
Avatar f tn I made the decision to breast feed because it is the best thing for him, breast milk contains valuable antibodies, it is free, convenient, and I love the bonding experience. Although I am a huge breast feeding advocate, not every woman can or even wants to and they shouldn't be made to feel bad for that.
Avatar f tn A big decision new moms must make for their little one’s nutrition is breast vs. formula. Which choice is right for you?
Avatar n tn From your description, you have stopped breast-feeding for about 6 months now and your body may have stopped producing breast milk. Suggest keeping her on formula and start her on baby food for additional nutrition. She is 7 months old and can start on baby food vegetables, meat and fruit.
301354 tn?1211810520 Some follow the breast feeding model where the child does not really eat any food, except breast milk or infant formula until about 9-10 months old. Then baby food is slowly introduced, cereal, vegetables, meat, fruits. Others feel a child should start eating baby food at about 3 months old, cereal, fruits, vegetables, and meats. The only foods restricted the first year are dairy products (milk, yogurt), wheat products, and orange juice due to help prevent allergies.
Avatar f tn My theory is, if breast milk is so much better for a baby than formula, then why do you need to feed a every 2 to 3 hours on breast milk and every 3 to 4 hours on formula? Breast milk is natural, so it can be deemed as "better" and easier on the babys tummy, but formula has a garenteed amount of vitamins and minerals in every serving and as a mommy, i want to make sure my baby is getting all the needed vitamins and minerals in every feeding.
Avatar f tn When a mother is brrastfeeding her body has antibodies that can be transferred tk the baby through the breast milk which will help build the babies immune system thus decreasing chances of infection.. so thats why there are some people who say that breast feeding is better.. formula has a reputation of being so called unfit because it has a long list of ingredients that are of course synthetic so people argue that if you cant even understand these synthetic forms..
10256164 tn?1408981241 t ever have to worry about your breast milk being recalled like with formula.
4444857 tn?1383325813 Boob size doesn't have anything to do with the amount lol.. What I'm planning to do is breastfeed, but I bought formula and bottles just in case something doesn't work out. Like I don't produce enough, it gets to painful, or what not.
Avatar f tn Kirstenthecat, pretty sure she asked about what brand of formula she should buy. Not your opinion on whether she should breast feed or formula feed. Im just saying. Good question brittyboo1125, I also wonder?
Avatar f tn I didn't have enough milk to breast feed my daughter exclusively. She was breast fed and formula fed. I switched between the two every feeding and she never had a problem. I think it will all depend on your baby and how well they handle it. Some like my daughter do just fine switching back and forth, my son got constipated a few times with the alternating between formula and breast milk.
Avatar f tn ve heard bad things about formula that makes me think, I rather breast feed then she intake GMO or crap from a product we absolutely have no control over. I'll know what I put in my body. There has to be resources at your hospital that they can provide to help with breast feeding and or you can get a breast pump and just bottle feed her, but its still breadt milk.
Avatar f tn Breast is best. There has been proven fact that formula can cause long term health problems. Autoimmune diaeases from their lil bodies not being able to digest properly. Diabetes, chrohns disease and others are on the rise for younger children these days.
Avatar f tn If you want to ensure at least one bowel movement a day, give them one bottle of formula. Breast milk can make them constipated, unless you eat something that will make them poop. Prune juice for Mommy. Lactose intolerance causes Diarrhea not constipation. It also gives them gas and makes them colic. Nuratimigen formula is the Best. WIC also gives it to you with a Dr prescription.
Avatar f tn I am going to breastfeed when my baby arrives in June. breast milk is better for the growth of a baby and for bonding. I am going to go back to work after my maternity leave is up so yes it may be inconvenient at times to have to pump but i will have formula as well just in case i didn't pump enough which im hoping i don't need to use.
470885 tn?1326329037 I firmly believe in giving formula or breastmilk as primary nutrition until 12 months. The elements in breast milk and formula are essential for brain development and I would never want to deny my baby even a month of that (1/10th of the baby's lifespan, depending on age of introduction on milk!). Even if a baby is a healthy weight and thriving, we cannot see what is developing inside and I firmly believe in providing the recommended nutrition.
Avatar f tn Hi mums! I'm currently 20wks with baby number 4 and thinking about breastfeeding vs formula. My 1st baby was born at 27wks and I expressed for 9 weeks with the help of medication as my milk supply was low. Baby number 2 was full term and I breast fed and expressed plus the help of medication for about 7 weeks and gave up then due to low supply. Baby number 3 was full term and again I fought for about 5 weeks with expressing, breastfeeding and medication before I gave up.
Avatar f tn Wic gives you fruit & vegetable checks milk eggs cereal beans ... while pregnant. Then for your baby, milk eggs fruit vegetable beans until age 4 & formula if u don't breastfeed. It can be a lifesaver. I had to put my 9mo old on formula because my milk production was low. I saved 117 $ on formula thanks to WIC.
Avatar f tn So I'm pretty sure I want to breast feed my baby girl because I feel like it would be cheaper. What are your guy's opinion on breast feeding Vs. Formula feeding? What should I choose and why?
Avatar f tn So feeling like i failed first time, hopefully i can crack it this time. But without measurements of formula milk, and no set routine to begin with, im like.. How will i know if baby is getting enough? What if he/she is having to much? With the help of nipple sheilds (lol) i hope i dont experience the same problems again.. Anyone else breast feeding out there??
Avatar f tn it has so much benefits hun.. aside from the great bonding you have with your baby, it reduces the risk of breast cancer as well.. it as also the best way to lose weight specially after giving birth, you'll save so much vs. buying formula and hassle free.. coz u dont have to wash bottles and nipples and sterilize it..i highly recommend breastfeeding..
Avatar f tn s like snow flakes lol, and the bonding that you get is so amazing and deep, they dont spit up as much and they tend to get more constipated on formula rather then breast milk...plus its free! And studies show that babies immune systems who are breast fed are much more sufficient then formula fed babies, they don't get sick as much and they bounce back quicker. My personal opinion is its selfish if a lady chooses not to because it hurts at first or its inconvenient for them.
Avatar f tn Girl if you go to the Heath department they will give you a electric pump :) but like ^^ said its a whole lot cheaper breast feeding and formula doesn't provide colostrum I'm planning on breast feeding for 4/5 months then switching over to formula
Avatar f tn Like is it bad to give formula AND breast milk? Can it make it to wear he wont want my breast milk? And as far as having to pump over nursing, will it lessen my supply?
2177836 tn?1355173877 If you plan on using wic for the formula, you'll have to use the brand they provide. However, if your baby has a milk protein intolerance and its documented by trips to the er and pediatrician, you can have your ped fill out a form to switch the formula. It has to be approved by the state dietician and you have to have the forms renewed every other month. I had to go through this with my daughter, and her formula was $26 a can bc she was on Alimentum.
Avatar f tn Breastfeeding moms will insist that formula makes babies fat but genetics plays a much larger roll than formula vs breast milk. All my kids have been formula babies and their weight stayed on a normal growth pattern. None were ever over weight. I would talk to your pediatrician and see what they say.
