milk

470885 tn?1326329037 I started mixing formula and cow's milk at 11 months, never asked the dr, just did it on my own...and at 1 year I had Elijah on milk only. If you're breast feeding still *I* don't see a problem with you mixing breast milk and cow's milk to see if he'll take a bottle or sippy that way.
Avatar n tn Do you mean mother's milk, or formula, or cow's milk? If mother's milk and he was before, see his pediatrician. If formula and you are not breast feeding, see his pediatrician. If he is not interested in drinking cow's milk but he will drink breast milk or formula, don't worry. It's too early for him to drink cow's milk anyway. But if you mean he is not eating anything at all, go right now to the doctor with him.
Avatar n tn My baby will turn 1 year old in two weeks. I'm not sure if I should continue with breast milk or should I give her whole milk. Some mom told me that breast milk isn't that effective in this stage because the nutrient is less in the breast milk so my baby will not get all the good stuff as she used to because the milk is not the same. Is it true?
1339680 tn?1276744901 My baby has been breast fed just for two months.after that we fed him on buffalo milk.but he passes stools frequently, usually whenever he is taking milk.now we are giving him cow's milk, but the situation has not changed much. Also he wakes up at night for feed, usually for 2 or more times.i want him to sleep through the night and also a proper stool passing schedule.
Avatar f tn Our son is one week old today and I give him both formula and breast milk. I like for us to feed him breast milk during the day and formula at night, since it's a little thicker.
Avatar f tn Here is a Q&A the answer is answered by world renound Dr Sears Q  My baby is ten and a half months old and has been exclusively breastfed since birth. She refuses formula and bottles defiantly. However, she will drink water, but only from a cup. Recently, she has stopped wanting to nurse, except once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I'd like to give her something other than water, especially at bedtime, to help get her through the night.
Avatar m tn The baby may show reaction towards breast milk also if the mother is taking dairy products in her diet.Diagnosis of milk allergy can be confirmed after skin ***** or patch tests and food challenge tests.Confirmation can be done with blood tests like RAST.It also helps in differentiating milk allergy from lactose intolerance. You need to consult an allergy specialist for that. Treatment involoves elimination of all dairy products from the diet.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your response. We are due in to the doctor on Mon for his 1 year checkup and I will ask the dr about doing an evaluation. Are there any good alternatives to pediasure for children with cow's milk allergies. I am going to have him tested to verify his allergy is with cow's milk, but he recently broke out in hives.. which seemed to reappear when reintroducing the milk. This is the primary reason we put weaning on hold after beginning a couple of weeks ago.
Avatar f tn You don't need dairy, you can get the nutrients from somewhere else whether that is different foods or supplements.
Avatar n tn You may have a good try at pumping if you find that he is having a hard time latching on! Breast milk will be so much better for him. Also to increase your supply you can try mothers milk tea, lots of water, and oatmeal.
Avatar n tn Almost everyone is allergic to cow's milk. That's why mammals breast feed. When you don't or can't breast feed, one thing missing is the immune system building colostrum found in early breast milk. No formula is healthy -- they are just the best we can do sometimes.
Avatar f tn For a nine year old, this is complicated. Goat's milk is milk, and though it's easier on the human body than cow's milk, it's still milk, so the question is why milk is being discontinued. A lactose intolerant person might very well still be lactose intolerant to goat's milk, for example, but someone who has digestive problems with cow's milk might not with goat's milk. There's also a taste issue.
Avatar m tn My daughter has been battling with constipation since her infancy. The Dr. had changed her regular formula to soy and her constipation issues were gone. At the age of one when she was put on cows milk the constipation issues returned. After struggling with on and off constipation I had put her on soy milk at the age of 4. Now, about 4 months later since I put her on soy milk I learned of the high estrogen content.
Avatar f tn I would get clarification, however, my pediatrician said the same thing. My daughter was highly lactose intollerant and it gave her horrible tummy aches. We supplmented the vitamins you get out of milk otherways. There are some people out there that believe that cow's milk was intended for cows and not humans - i'm surprised a doctor, however, would be pushing it. I heard this statement about cows a lot when I was breast feeding.
2189208 tn?1339572701 when they were about 6 months .. honestly i was raised in a farm and that was my first milk cow's milk .. back them people were lot healthier than now ..
Avatar f tn People think that milk either produces mucous or thickens it - why they think this is unclear to me but studies sow that this is not true. Several clinical studies have infected people with cold viruses and measured the total mucous production and thickness in response to subjects who drank milk (cow's milk) or were milk free. There was no difference in either mucous production or mucous thickness.
676912 tn?1332812551 Ok, so I'm full of questions lately, and the breast feeding forum doesn't get much traffic, so I need your opinions! I'm still exclusively breast feeding Aubryana, and had planned to start weaning her when she turns a year old. WELL here's my issue. My brother and his wife are expecting their first baby so I'm planning a trip to FL around the end of Nov/beginning of Dec. Aubryana's fist birthday is Dec 7th.
Avatar f tn My 15 year old daughter was first diagnosed with lactose intolerance about two years ago. She has not eaten any dairy products at all since. We went back to the doctor this past August(we see a gastroenterologist) and told her that my daughter was not able to tolerate any milk at all. She never eats dairy unless it is by accident because she can most certainly tell if she has had milk. One time I bought Wonder bread and my daughter ate some.
5624774 tn?1374284525 My daughter is 10 months old and breast fed (well she drinks pumped milk but same thing). I am 27+2 weeks pregnant and I am getting close to nothing when I pump. I've tried formula and she is refusing. She will push the bottle away and scream and fight me the whole time. As soon as I give her water or Apple juice she's fine. She also eats solids. I know she needs milk still though. Can I give her whole milk.
Avatar n tn so i'm 24 and for as long as i can remember anytime i've had any milk or ice cream, it has always left a bad taste in my mouth. i have no problems with cheeses and yogurts. at school when given the choice of white milk and chocolate milk i always chose chocolate milk because it masked the bad aftertaste. i hated when my parents made me drink milk with meals. i never had digestive issues - bloating, gas, stomach aches, undigested food, etc - until about 6 or 7 months ago.
Avatar f tn Has anyone done both at the same time?? Whether it's been formula and breast feeding or formula and bottle fed breast milk?? What's your experience been? How was baby with two types? What type of formula dos you use? Tell me everything !
10256164 tn?1408981241 Breastfeeding is free and you don't ever have to worry about your breast milk being recalled like with formula.
Avatar n tn Hi...does it matter if I drink almond milk instead of cow's milk? How much calcium do I need every day?
Avatar f tn There are other ways to get calcium. You might google "diets for people with dairy sensitivity" and see where you get. Also, if it's just cow's milk that does it, you might try goat's milk and goat cheese.
400358 tn?1320234443 We're on the same boat here. Medina refuses cow's milk but I'm still breastfeeding and would likely to slowly wean her. Our paediatrician says to give her more cheese, yoghurt and she does drink yoghurt-based drink but the taste of cow's milk.....alot of babies don't like it and protest it. What happened with diluting it, how did that go?
