Breast milk taste like formula

Common Questions and Answers about Breast milk taste like formula

milk

Avatar n tn Try someone else offering the bottle to him, because you smell like breast milk. Also taste the milk if you offering formula, because breast milk is sweet, a lot of formulas taste horrid! Mostly I found it was just perseverance. If you dr has no problems with his poo-ing patern the don't force a change. It could cause problems where once there wasn't any. Good luck!
Avatar f tn If the bottle of infant formula tastes like breast milk he will accept the bottle more. Try mixing ¾ breast milk and ¼ infant formulas at first. If he does accept it, then after a week or so, try doing a bottle mix of ½ breast milk, and ½ formulas. If you wish, you can gradually go to a bottle mix of ¼ breast milk and ¾ formulas, then totally to all formula depending on how he accepts it. This way you will use up the breast milk and he will get used to the formula taste.
Avatar n tn Most breast-feed infants do not like infant formula and need it mixed with breast milk to accept it. If the bottle of infant formula tastes like breast milk she will accept the bottle more. Try mixing ¾ breast milk and ¼ infant formula at first. If she does accept it, then after a week or so, try doing a bottle mix of ½ breast milk, and ½ formula. Avatar f tn I've thought about it a couple times lol Sometimes when I'm in the shower I will squeeze my boob and make milk come out (cus I don't leak or nothing) And one time alot came out and I guess from the steam made the smell stronger but the smell of my breast milk was like a mix of regular milk and formula. It was weird, soo I guess that's why I just didn't do it. I'm sure I will one day. I'm a first time mom patiently waiting for my baby boy to come.
Avatar f tn It's completely up to you. From my experience, my kids wouldn't take the formula. I think it's because breast milk has a sweeter taste than formula. The only time they ever accepted formula was in their first days of life before my milk came in. So if your baby accepts formula, go for it. But like someone above said, supplementing frequently will lower your milk supply. Good luck.

Avatar f tn Sure. Baby will like the breast milk better, so either start with it (the best idea if you're trying to empty your breasts and keep up your supply) or finish with it (if you think baby will be likely to stop eating when not entirely full and the yummy taste of the breast milk will be more enticing).
4105678 tn?1356545271 Breast feeding was so much easier. But I didnt have a breast pump so it was tough when I went somewhere and left my baby. I would have to give formula. And then the WIC tried telling me that he needed to nurse every 20 minutes! I was like Uh I have 3 other kids and a house to clean so I cannot nurse every 15 to 20 minutes! So I would switch off between the bottle and the breast. He didnt get confused and still took to the breast.
551604 tn?1333983135 I mean she would sleep but then wake up 10 minutes or so after. Is my breast milk causing her to be like this or she just wants more and I can't give it to her? Any advice would be helpful.
Avatar f tn It may take some time to get your baby use to the different taste. Idk if you were breast or formula feeding. Either way start out mixing the two and introducing that way. With my son, I gave him his regular formula bottle but instead of his normal 7 oz formula, I put 6 ounces of formula and 1 ounce of cows milk mixed. Every 2 days, I added another oz of cows milk and took away an iz of formula until his whole 7 ounces was cows milk. He did good over the 2 week transition.
5624774 tn?1374284525 Around 10 weeks pregnant is when my baby weaned from breast milk. Your milk starts changing in taste so that could be it.
9399295 tn?1403752593 She might not be wanting it because the taste of formula. I heard breast milk tastes so much better then formula.
Avatar f tn I was reading yesterday of my coconut cravings to see if it was bad for the baby and its pretty amazing as well both during pregnancy and during breast feeding look it up ..the coconut milk is great for it but might not b to ur taste. Good luck ..
1123420 tn?1350561158 Yeah i would just ask your pediatrician, i know my mom started giving me and my siblings formula (or breast milk depending on which of us it was lol) mixed with a little bit of the baby cereal at about 4-5 months but that was almost 10 years ago lol.
Avatar f tn Thats too bad about the milk..I love my milk. I drink it before each check lol but I found the milk I like.
229857 tn?1319029907 I tried breastfeeding in the beginning but it was very painful and he was very fussy like he wasnt getting any milk so we switched to formula. He has been on formula since he was a week old. I want to try to breastfeed again because i know breastmilk is the best and i want him to have the best. Is this possible? Have any of you tried breastfeeding again after so long or know someone that did and succeeded?
Avatar n tn I personally have never been through it but My cousin got pregnant 3 months after she gave birth. Her daughter wasn't gaining any weight and having problems ... the dr said it was because she wasn't eating enough she didn't like the breast milk anymore so my cousin had to switch to formula. But if your child is still eating then it should be okay :) Iwould talk to your dr about it.
8628831 tn?1407267564 It is a time consuming commitment and i pump after every feeding (every two-four hours) and my milk supply *****! I have to try to supplement with formula some nights due to spit ups, etc. But last night she refused formula. I am using emfamil and was wondering if all formulas taste the same? She had this disgusted look on her face and so i put a drop of milk on hee tounge and she gagged. I dont know what to do!
Avatar f tn My theory is, if breast milk is so much better for a baby than formula, then why do you need to feed a every 2 to 3 hours on breast milk and every 3 to 4 hours on formula? Breast milk is natural, so it can be deemed as "better" and easier on the babys tummy, but formula has a garenteed amount of vitamins and minerals in every serving and as a mommy, i want to make sure my baby is getting all the needed vitamins and minerals in every feeding.
Avatar n tn m afraid baby will be confused because of different nipples and the different taste of breast milk and formula. Advice please!
Avatar f tn My cousin had to have goat milk mix of some kind because her stomach could not handle formula or breast milk. She was healthy and is smart so it did not harm her. My uncle swears by it and if needed I would try it. But I plan to breastfeed.
Avatar f tn -D and I would only breastfeed him too cuz he dislike the taste of the formula. But Now Im pregnant again with my 4rd bby and Im planning to breastfeed him for a few months only and just give formula because of my experiense with my two boys I struggled alot.....
7757724 tn?1396279586 Well breast milk is better for them. But doesn't mean formula is bad for them! Thanks for the answers!
Avatar f tn Filtered water isn't necessary. You can definitely use it, but if you'd drink your tap water that's just as good. Boiling water isn't necessary and special "nursery waters" are just a waste of money. Breasts and breast milk arent sterile, bottles and formula don't need to be either.
Avatar n tn Once they get older a bottle is a choice as well as formula, but it has to be a process you cant just switch from breast milk to formula over night. And they make special formulas for the conversion! Check out a breastfeesing class if youre interested in learning more, hope this helps!
Avatar f tn It may cause you supply to decrease but any breast milk isngood! :) Have you tried pumping? If your already breastfeeding it would be much cheep er a deep your supply up..
Avatar f tn I have a 18 month old who refuses any other milk or formula she breast feeds for comfort now and has water and the odd occasion juice and i have just found out im pregnant and the only thing that hurts is when she pinches my boobs kind of kneeding them like they do when there babies but more painfull coming from a toddler as you would know
1806277 tn?1316190485 its otherwise because it a alternative way to feed your baby if you breast have dried out and need sometimes to refill or generate more milk . if you notice the box of formula you buy for your baby have written breast feeding is the best feeding for baby . Even the box say so. To strengthen my opinion breast feeding create the feeling love toward your baby and baby feel the same way too. Its give the warmth feeling inside to see happy face from your baby .
