Common Questions and Answers about Breast milk supply sleeping through the night

milk

1209036 tn?1299178657 t do this, pump every 2-3 hours, and through the night. You can also take fenugreek and blessed thistle and these should help up your supply. Formula will keep him full longer (giving him a more satisfied look) because it's not as easy to digest as breastmilk, so if you switch it wouldnt be surprising if he eats more frequently. Kylie has more or less lived latched on me for the last 5 weeks. If you want to try BFing still, get in touch with a LC or the LLL. They should be able to help you.
Avatar f tn Can wearing a sports bra to bed hurt my milk supply?!!!! They are so comfy to wear to bed!!!
676912 tn?1332812551 t really have to wake her up anymore cause she wakes in between the two hours to eat again, not always but for a couple hours she will...and the same at night, like last night she was awake for almost three hours eating/sleeping/eating...
446156 tn?1275859576 Babies this little cannot digest baby cereal. He should be having an appointment soon, right? I'd definitely ask about his eating patterns. As far as sleeping through the night, he's still young. He may just want to s * uckle, not necessarily eat, in the middle of the night. He could have colic, reflux, etc.
4437866 tn?1388119624 Sleeping through the night – if your baby has started sleeping through the night you may find your milk supply has taken a nose-dive.  The hormones responsible for making milk are at their highest during the nighttime hours, and breastfeeding at night boosts those hormones which in turn boosts your supply.  If your baby is sleeping through the night you are missing out on that boost.  Consider pumping at least once at night, or waking your baby to breastfeed.
136689 tn?1419580447 Hey ladies just wondering if there is anyway to increase milk supply besides pumping, I'm not feeling that full feeling anymore and blayde seems to have to suck a bit more than usual to stimulate me to let down, and i usually can get 150mls out of both breast after feeding but today could only get 50mls.
5624774 tn?1374284525 When my baby started sleeping through the night I would wake uo with super full breasts, but now it's not that bad. Your body adjusts to how much the baby is eating and when. I haven't had any supply problems, but I was worried about it at first too.
3588173 tn?1357317184 Alright looks like I will be setting a couple alarms during the night to pump.
278664 tn?1319840159 Ok so a week ago I got really sick, throwing up and diareaha. I lost alot fluids that night and I'm breastfeeding. Well since then my milk has been very low. I have been trying to pump after each feeding to make sure I empty the breast to stimulate more milk, but it's not. I have been drinking alot of fluids, eating well. I've had to supplement almost every night with formula or with pumped milk.
550943 tn?1330727580 It is great she is sleeping on her crib already. I think you should let her sleep during the day and wake her up for feeding at night if she sleeps all night don't wake her up, let her sleep.
5143780 tn?1370557931 But I used to wake up every two hours to feed the baby to keep my supply going to eventually start stories g the milk. Try maybe for every three hrs to feed. Are you only pumping? Breast milk is a lot lighter on a babies stomach therefore they need to eat more its not heavy like formula.
Avatar f tn It may cause you supply to decrease but any breast milk isngood! :) Have you tried pumping? If your already breastfeeding it would be much cheep er a deep your supply up..
12518439 tn?1446857092 Try giving him a bottle of water at night instead of milk -- this is especially pertinent if he has teeth, as a child should not be eating at night (except breast milk) because of the risk of tooth decay. (Breast milk does not cause it, but formula does, and juice is way over the top in terms of sugar.) If you can get him to take a bottle of water, that will give him a little less reward for waking up. But really, 8 months does not seem very late for him to be waking in the night.
Avatar f tn ve had friends with small boobs n aswell a great supply.
1937880 tn?1342959331 She is on both breast milk and formula. I did switch up her formula around the time she started acting up from similac to enfimal. Yet the signs she is showing are teething signs. She also doesn't wanna nap except for an hour or two in the morning and maybe 30 min in the afternoon. Anyone have any advice???
Avatar f tn I breast fed my daughter and I always had extra to put in the fridge. I just had to pump at the time she usually had to feed and I kept producing alot of milk.
Avatar f tn t the right forum but I feel more comfortable asking questions here...I had my daughter on the 9th and at first I had a really good milk supply where my breast would become engorged every two hours if I didn't pump or feed regularly....and I was pumping 2/3 ounces from each breast every time.....now I can hardly get an half an ounce :(....I try to have my daughter on my breast every two hours but it seems like she gets so irritated because nothing is coming out....
741877 tn?1265950200 Breastfeeding is very difficult and the less I fed and supplimented with formula, the less my son wanted my breast becaue the less milk I was producing. My son eventually weaned himself off of my breast by 2 months. My advice, keep trying to feed him only breast and make sure to pump if you do decide to suppliment. You want your body to think that you are nursing.
Avatar f tn This might be a dumb question, but is there such thing as producing too much colostrum? I'm just over 30 weeks and at night I'll wake up and it will be everywhere in huge wet patches. I was under the impression a few drops here and there were normal. I use breast pads during the day but it's too uncomfortable wearing a bra while sleeping.
171867 tn?1271044148 yes my addy is almost 7 months and tonight nursed for a freakin hour!! cat napped and went right back at it. if that little girl doesnt sleep through the night....im her pacifier though so who knows. i really dont mind, i love how she rubs my skin, sighs with ;happiness and smiles like im better than chocolate!! lol i remember when she was about 8 weeks she started cluster feeding at night. after a few weeks of doing this she started sleeping more at night.
Avatar f tn Have you delivered yet? I took a breast feeding class, and a specialist told me that the more you breast feed, the more milk your body automatically creates.
Avatar f tn See a lactation consultant while in the hospital to check for any latch issues if any are there. Breast milk is produced in a supply and demand. The more your baby demands the more you make. Remember once your milk regulates to your baby's needs they will not feel hard or engorged any more so don't worry. Mine got soft and floppy lol I did worry but I learned that I was still producing plenty. My sons pediatrician told me to count diapers 5 or more wet diapers a day is your indicator.
1486435 tn?1316470899 DH and I were going through the log last night and noticed something odd, Every time I have double pumped the ammount has been way smaller, than if i pump 1 breast then wait 2 hours and then pump the other it seems i get more that way. Maybe I just dont know wth im doing lol. Anyways does anyone have and suggestions for getting my supply up before baby comes home? which she will be home friday at the latest.
Avatar f tn My little man is the same. On the boob constantly. I occasionally get a 3 hour stint during the night but its every hour the rest of the time. How old is your bub. He could be having a growth spurt. They drink more during a growth spurt to up your production. As tired as I am I still put him on the boob whenever he wants it even if it is just to fall asleep because I ran out of milk with my first cause he pacified himself with a dummy and not on me so never got my production up.
676912 tn?1332812551 Aubryana's been eating like she's been starved the last couple days. She'll be 11 weeks old on Wednesday. Could she be going through a growth spurt? She's exclusively breast fed, and my boobs feel like they're completely empty. I'm doubling up on my mother's milk tea (was only drinking two cups, now going to do four) for the next two days, today included and see if it boosts me up a little and then changing to three Tuesday and see if it helps any.
