Common Questions and Answers about Breast milk storage playtex
milk
Usually breast pumps come with one or two bottles (depending on whether you got a single or double pump). Once you have pumped dump the milk into breastmilkstorage bags, or you can pour the milk into what ever type of bottles you and your baby prefer to use.
what bottles do you ladies recommend? when my baby is born id like to pump out my milk and put it in a bottle but not sure which to get as there are so many options!
How many drop in liners will I need for each size to get started? Also, I assume I need some sort of breastmilkstorage kit, which I think Playtex makes for the Drop Ins, but... I think I need like... several of them because they don't have many adapter rings? Not sure on that one. How many bottle nipples do you think I'll need to start out with and what flows?
I have one of the pump in style designs as well (NO idea which, I cant find it online at all) but it comes with a manual, storage and freezer part, bottles for milk, 6 different horns and is a double electric. It worked really well.
I pumped nd stored sum breastmilk in the refrigerator nd forgot to label the date I think its been in there a lil over a week my son has his doc app tomorrow nd I shall be given it to him then will it be still safe or should I throw it out??
you can get the Playtex One Step Breastmilk Storage Kit... they are blue rings with blue lids and are made to screw into a bottle so you just drop it in when your ready to use the milk... really easy to store....
I make sure baby is an excellent breastfeeder for about 2 weeks before I introduce the bottle with expressed breastmilk. Both my babies did fine with this approach. I also use the Playtex bottle system. It's inexpensive and my babies have done well with it. Good luck! Breastfeeding is a joy!
Through medicaid I got the double medela breast pump free with my second daughter and loved it!!! My first one I had just a single breast pump and it got time consuming using it on both breasts!! Before I found out medicaid covered a breast pump I got a manual playtex one and it sucked too!!
d add a bopping pillow, breast pump, breast milkstorage bags. If not try to go with glass bottles...nothing wrong with trying to start with the best and healthiest way possible for your little gift from God. Also find out if your able to get WIC. Blessings!
Hi ladies! Does anyone know if I can store Breastmilk in ziplock freezer bags? The bags I have made specifically for breast milk don't close very well and I worry about freezer burn.
If you have any advice I'd love to hear it!
We had problems with my son taking a bottle until dr suggested using Playtex bottles and enfamil newborn (apparently closest tasting to breastmilk).
After that no problems at all.
I breastfed my son 18 months straight and I think I used the breast pump once. I didn't like it, I had the playtex electric one. I just found it easier to breast feed straight from the breast pumping took too long and it hurt a little.
I'm going to get the gerber bottles from walmart. My sister has them & they work fine so i thought I'd try them, but if I'm pumping what bottles would I store the milk in? Or should I just get storage bags?? & if i get storage bags do i just pour the milk in the bottle when im ready to feed? Ugh. So confused lol help!
The first couple days you will feed your baby collustrum and your milk will slowly start to come in. My suggestion to keep up your milk is to eat healthy and more often. And try to pump between feedings.
I'm trying to choose the best breast pump and milk storage system I can find. I travel extensively for work and I'll even be pumping in the car. I found the Kiinde system; which looks awesome. But, I'm not sure what I will be able to express from each breast at each pumping session. Ideally, I would like to pump directly into the storage bag, freeze it, thaw it, and feed directly from the bag. That is how the Kiinde system is intended to be used.
I am doing only pumping. My daughter doesn't take the breast. I am pumping about 4 oz. every 3 hours or 6 oz. every 6 hours. I usually pump when she's feeding but sometimes I don't have the time to do that so I pump when I get a chance. When I have to go out I usually do formula. So far I haven't felt engorged. I am using the medela 2.5oz bottles to store the milk, but I usually feed her the milk that same day. I don't freeze my milk.
I got a free one of those from target I believe... I used the Playtex ventair for my first son but they're really skinny compared to the similac one I had.
I wouldn't put it in a water bottle if it were me. I would buy some cheap breast milk freezer bags to have them on hand for the next time. These either tie with a twist tie or they zip closed. You can get a huge amount for a few bucks at Target. Sounds like you are doing great with the breastfeeding!!!!!!
you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breastmilk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
