Avatar f tn Hi ladies! Does anyone know if I can store Breast milk in ziplock freezer bags? The bags I have made specifically for breast milk don't close very well and I worry about freezer burn. If you have any advice I'd love to hear it!
Avatar f tn I was told not to pump and dump, its better to wait it out because the alcohol content in breast milk will be the same as in your blood, as youre blood alcohol levels decrease so will the amount in the breast milk and pumping and dumping will just be a waste. My dr told me that its better to just wait it out and to pump a little every now and then and use these test strips from walmart.
Avatar f tn s normal to leak colostrum anywhere from sixteen weeks to not until after baby is born. Breast size has very little to do with your ability to breastfeed successfully. Your boobs will make milk as baby nurses. They aren't storage containers so much as a tap. Take care of yourself, learn about breastfeeding, and sorting yourself with women who've successfully breastfed. You'll be fine!
Avatar f tn I'm trying to choose the best breast pump and milk storage system I can find. I travel extensively for work and I'll even be pumping in the car. I found the Kiinde system; which looks awesome. But, I'm not sure what I will be able to express from each breast at each pumping session. Ideally, I would like to pump directly into the storage bag, freeze it, thaw it, and feed directly from the bag. That is how the Kiinde system is intended to be used.
621803 tn?1302888341 I posted this in the Breastfeeding community as well, but I figured I'd post her as well, since this community tends to get more visitors. I pump twice a day at work, and usually get around 14-15 oz out of those two sessions, so I bring 2 8 oz storage bottles with me and that's always been enough. But my breasts are apparently on overdrive today, and I just got 14 oz (!!) out of just the first session.
229857 tn?1319029907 you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breast milk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
229857 tn?1319029907 After you pump and put the milk in a bottle how long is it good for if you dont refrigerate it? For example.. if you pump and put it in bottles to go to the store or out to dinner or something.
Avatar f tn Fresh milk can be in the fridge 4-6 days and frozen thawed milk can be in the fridge 24 hours. These are the milk storage guidelines from the LLL.
Avatar f tn U actually freeze breast milk in special bags made for storage
9842459 tn?1411688168 My bottles won't fit and I was wondering what did you use to store your breast milk in? I've looked at Walmart and the first years website. Can you use any milk storage bag? I have two bottles that came with the pump can I use them and just pour the milk in the storage bag? Or will that mess up with me pumping?

Avatar n tn I have a question for all the moms out there. I am 39 weeks tomorrow it will be my second daughter my 1st is now 7 years old. With my 1st I did not breastfeed at all not in the hospital or out of the hospital she was on formula from day one. My question is now with my second I still do not plan on breastfeeding from my breasts it not something thats gonna ever be on my agenda, but I do want to pump and bottle feed.
Avatar f tn Ohh okay I jist bought a maternity bra thinking it was a nursing bra I will have to return it and look for some nursing bras. Thank you that was helpful. And about the milk storage bag do I just buy them and put my milk in there after I pump and put them in the freezer?
Avatar f tn Hey ladies. I'm a first time mommy. I plan on breast feeding. What accessories aside from the actual breast pump do I need? I know I need storage for the beat milk, but I'd there anything I need?
676912 tn?1332812551 So one site suggested pumping out some of the foremilk and then feeding baby to help with green poop issues as well as block feeding. I tried the block feeding and Aubryana's going back and forth between yellow and green now. SO I want to pump a little and then feed her, but I'm not getting much when I pump, I just pumped ten minutes and stopped for a ten and then pumped again cause I wasn't getting much out and got a whole ounce and a half from the left side total.
Avatar f tn Put it in the lansinoh storage bags specifically for breast feeding, then label it and stick it in the freezer.
Avatar f tn Usually breast pumps come with one or two bottles (depending on whether you got a single or double pump). Once you have pumped dump the milk into breast milk storage bags, or you can pour the milk into what ever type of bottles you and your baby prefer to use.
Avatar f tn Our hospital hands out flyers with breast feeding and milk storage tips when you leave the hospital. I breastfeed but my little one didnt take a bottle so i cant help you with the tips! There are lots of guidelines though like how long in the fridge and or freezer and how long at room temp!
7923170 tn?1412999504 Soo were on a very short budget and I want to breast feed to help with costs n not to mention its healthy for baby and me... My biggest concern is how to store the breast milk. I have an idea to use jelly jars my gram uses to freeze her strawberry jelly she makes... But I don't know if they would bust... I don't plan on filling them to the very tippie top.
Avatar f tn When I first came home from the hospital I pump and store my breast milk in these sterile storage bags made for breast milk. I will eat oatmeal and take fenugreek tablets to help keep producing milk. You want to keep the baby on the breast as much as possible even if she/he is using you as a pacifier, I noticed skin to skin contact with my little one has helped. My milk supply did decrease while I went back to work.
Avatar f tn d be worried about them busting which is my concern with the plastic ones designed for breast milk. And I hate the idea of throwing all those bags away. Glass is sturdier, reuseable, and less money in the long run.
Avatar f tn I would like to breast feed, but I will primarily depend on bottle feeding breast milk because of other reasons. Just curious what I should kind of expect.
