2863077 tn?1436670789 Okay ladies, my daughter will be 2 months old on Monday, I am just wondering how many ounces should she be eating? She eats strictly breast milk if that changes anything. Thank you!
2129193 tn?1342539411 If you only breastfeed once a day you have a higher chance of losing milk production all together.. Your bony makes as much milk as baby drinks breast feeding is how you keep milk production up.. So stay hydrated and breastfeed as much as you can..
Avatar f tn Breastfeeding class is wrong, you should do one breast per feeding. It helps regulate milk production better letting them do one side at a time.
Avatar m tn Hi ladies, my milk came in yesterday, quite a lot I made add and I have been pumping ever since. Brandon is being lazy again and not latching on as much as I'd like to. Do you all think I will eventually dry up if I dont continue to latch him on? I have never breastfeed so I am not to experience on this. My mom keeps telling me I wont I as long as I continue to pump regularly. Everytime I pump I get like 2-3 onces per breast. Is that good enough?
Avatar n tn If we are pumping breast milk how many ounces should she have per feeding? How long should we let her nurse on sore nipples and still get enough to eat? Our doctor told us to give two ounces of formula. she weighs 7.5 pounds. 8 days old.
Avatar f tn I am planning on breast feeding abd know i wil have to pump when I go back to work . My question is what kind of bottles are best to use with a breast feeding baby. My huband and I are at a lost for this information. Hope that I can actually breast feed. My mom and sister couldnt dont know if that makes a differnce or not.
9923140 tn?1407723429 Babies tummy is only about the size of a teaspoon. Very common for them to feed and be hungry 30 min later if your breast feeding. If not breast. feeding then im not too sure. Have you called his ped?
Avatar f tn Within the past week he has been sleeping from 11pm to 6am without waking up for a feeding. He drinks between 3-4 ounces at a time. I have been trying to keep track of how much he has been drinking and I think it is only about 20 to 22 ounces. Is he getting enough or how much breast milk should he be drinking in a 24 hour period?
2137220 tn?1340741325 I was wondering when I start breast feeding (if he should latch on) I know my milk could take up to 72 hours to fully come in, but after getting the colostrum will he be starving til my milk comes in?? I don't wanna supplement at all if I don't have to. Not only because it could cause nipple confusion but I don't want him preferring it over the breast. My last baby is 11 years old so memory has faded a lil.
Avatar f tn Alcohol is metabolized out of the blood (and breast milk) at a rate of about.25 ounces per hour. So as long as you have only one drink and wait 3-4 hours to breastfeed, there is no need to pump and dump.
3588173 tn?1357317184 Im sorry for all the breast milk questions but the breast feeding forum is hardly as active as this one. Ive been pumping every 3-4 hours n get about 2 oz give or take from each side per session.
2106256 tn?1340814698 it depends my sister pumped straight away n got very painful breasts so she gave up altogther i breast fed on demand untill my baby was 4 weeks then started pumping but it was very tiring do whats bet for you
Avatar f tn Ohkay! Finally had my baby boy on Saturday the 28th & I'm breast feeding. How long does it usually take to get decent milk in? It's been 5 days & I can already pump 4 ounces out of each boob. Is that normal? & when does the pain start to get better? Also what's the pump & dump policy on weed. I quit smoking for my pregnancy & smoked yesterday. Not a lot & I've pumped & dumped twice bc I don't want him to have it.
Avatar f tn I hear a small amount of it makes it into your breast milk. What if I waited awhile before feeding? Or if I pumped ahead of time and stored it?
4437866 tn?1388119624 the last 2 night/days my kids have been eating less. Normally they eat 6 to 8 ounces of breast milk ( i pump now due to breastfeedi.g hurts like hell ) now they only seem to want 3-4 sometimes 5 ounces.. last night i could only get zachary to eat 3 ounces at his nigght bottle at 10 pm. Then the same when he woke up at 4 am. Im worried about it but everyone else seems to think its ok. During the day they eat3-4 ounces but the times are around 4-5 hours. Is this ok? Wet diapers are good.
Avatar n tn Hi Ladies. I'm a new mommy and I wanted to know when did you feed your new born baby 2 full onces of milk. I'm not breast feeding. But my baby is 6 days old and she acts as if shes starving for her milk...I feel bad for stopping her from drinking a full two ounces but sometimes she spits up alot. At the hospital they told me I should be feeding her every 2-4hours about 1 and a half oz.
11133727 tn?1417112793 You can always pump as much as ur able to and freeze it and do both formula and breast milk but ultimately if you dont produce enough to feed him then formula will be best so that you know hes eating enough
639543 tn?1297027634 I started feeding Dameon straight from my breast, then DH decided he wanted to be able to feed him too, so I pumped, and he was able to feed him. It turns out the baby has gotten used to ONLY taking a bottle, because it's easier, not to mention my boobs are so full of milk all the time, it flattens my nipples and he has no nipple to latch onto.
Avatar f tn I pumped last time as well. At first I would get 4 ounces or so each time but towards the end I would barely get an ounce. I heard oatmeal helped too.
Avatar f tn Here is a Q&A the answer is answered by world renound Dr Sears Q  My baby is ten and a half months old and has been exclusively breastfed since birth. She refuses formula and bottles defiantly. However, she will drink water, but only from a cup. Recently, she has stopped wanting to nurse, except once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I'd like to give her something other than water, especially at bedtime, to help get her through the night.
Avatar f tn So my son is 6weeks old and I've been exclusively breast feeding at first we started out rough because of sore nipples so i tried formula and still do once a week because he becomes fussy and doesn't latch on. My question is how many ounces does a baby he age intake when I pump and use the bottle he never drinks no ore than 2.
9020620 tn?1409884412 My baby sleeps alot so im worried if he isnt getting enough milk. I been pumping milk and he eats about 8- 10 ounces of Milk to calculate how many ounces his getting a day. .do you think thats enough??
Avatar f tn Are you sure you've run out? Or that baby is still hungry? Try massaging the breast you're feeding on, it will help bring down more milk. Baby's stomach is so small at this point (like a grape) and it can't expand so she only needs literally drops of colostrum.
1210716 tn?1297620883 This would give you a better idea of how much she really is getting per feeding. Do you nurse first and then feed food? It is recommended they nurse for a year BUT that depends on what works best for mom and baby. You can still add breastmilk to cereals and food. Keep pumping and feeding the way you are because at 5 months they tend to become really aware of their surroundings and are curious (and easily distracted!).
Avatar n tn Most breast-feed infants do not like infant formula and need it mixed with breast milk to accept it. If the bottle of infant formula tastes like breast milk she will accept the bottle more. Try mixing ¾ breast milk and ¼ infant formula at first. If she does accept it, then after a week or so, try doing a bottle mix of ½ breast milk, and ½ formula. If you wish, you can gradually go to a bottle mix of ¼ breast milk and ¾ formulas, then totally to all formula depending on how she accepts it.
