Most machines nowadays all the tubing etc doesn't contact the milk its just there for pressure. All parts should be washable and boilable.

ve used the Avent Isis manual breast pump and loved it. I was able to pump 3-6 ozs of milk per breast in a very short amount of time. And although it came with a bunch of parts, was very easy to use and to clean. I plan on using it again for #2.

I stay in Memphis and am trying to figure out if the WIC will provide a electric breast pump or if my doc prescribes one for me will my insurance cover it?

Make sure you check with your insurance if you're eligible for a breast pump. But definitely get a breast pump, breast pads, breast milk storage (bags or bottles) and burp cloths for baby (it's way easier to use than a bib. If you have inverted nipples, get a nipple shield to help baby suck. Umm...and best of luck!

t think so. You can sterilize all the parts that have touched the other persons breast milk. Or buy new ones. I gave my friend $40 for an almost brand new Medela double breast pump. They usually cost like $350!

I am expecting my second baby. With my first, I tried to breastfeed but it didn't work out. I had been gifted a manual Avent pump and I was so disappointed. So I'm planning on breast feeding exclusively . Pumping and saving & only using breast milk . That's my PLAN. . But I also know sometimes it doesn't work out as planned . Should I buy a can of formula just in case for emergency to have ? I know it's expensive & I might not use it but what if I have issues with the breast feeding should I have a back up ? I reccommend a double too bc while pumping one, the other tends to leak and you lose milk that way...plus you end up covered in milk...gross.

Also be reassured that it is nearly impossible for your baby to have too much breast milk. Your body actually adjusts the milk as the baby grows so that it is nutritionally ideal for her. (possible problems with overfeeding can happen with formula, if it is mixed wrong). Keep up the breast feeding. Congratulations on your baby.

You can mix, but I agree w/ Clysta that the less often she's at the breast or the less often you pump, the less you will make. I had that problem when I went back to work when my son was 6 1/2 weeks old. I pumped 2x a day at work, but I didn't make a lot, so he got formula 1-2 times a day as well. But, don't stop giving her breast milk just because you aren't getting a lot - the more from you she can get, the better!

It is a plastic piece that goes over your breast and it I guess shapes your nipple to let milk out better. I never had a problem with my medela and milk never got stuck in the tubes but everyone is different. Multiple people have borrowed my pump because I loved it so much.
