Avatar f tn I breast fed and the drop in bottles worked best for my milk storage containers. You can always try 1 or 2 of each and see what you like best.
Avatar f tn s normal to leak colostrum anywhere from sixteen weeks to not until after baby is born. Breast size has very little to do with your ability to breastfeed successfully. Your boobs will make milk as baby nurses. They aren't storage containers so much as a tap. Take care of yourself, learn about breastfeeding, and sorting yourself with women who've successfully breastfed. You'll be fine!

Containers made out of polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE, or plastic #1)-such as most soda bottles-are OK to use once, but can leach carcinogenic, hormone-disrupting phthalates when used over and over again. Also, many deli items come wrapped in plastic made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC, or plastic #3), which can leach cancer-causing dioxins.
Avatar f tn I'm doing research about storage for breast milk. I want something that's cost effective and will work. I'm not looking to create a huge stash of frozen milk because I don't have the space in my freezer nor do I have a deep freeze (yay apartment living). I have looked into the disposable bags. What a money sink. Plus the reviews I read do not put much faith into me using them. I came across a mom's blog about using mason jars.
7923170 tn?1412999504 Soo were on a very short budget and I want to breast feed to help with costs n not to mention its healthy for baby and me... My biggest concern is how to store the breast milk. I have an idea to use jelly jars my gram uses to freeze her strawberry jelly she makes... But I don't know if they would bust... I don't plan on filling them to the very tippie top.
Avatar f tn If u dont have any, the most natural way to help heal ur nipples are to rub ur own milk on them and let them airdry. If u are going to pump, then you will need some storage containers or bottles. If you cant afford a pump, I know that WIC gives you a free hand pump if u ask them. Im not sure about every state but my WIC office let me rent a medela electric pump for 3 months at a time at no cost. This was a few yrs back for me but look into it! Hope that helped a lil.

Avatar n tn I pumped pretty much 4 months straight at one point I had over 700 oz of milk. The 2 pumps I bought, milk storage bags and containers were all investment. My son is a week over 4 months and has never been sick. My niece on other had has hadva few ER visits. Even though I wish I could continue work schedule makes it really hard and have started formula. He is doing fine too.

Avatar n tn Glass bottles are great &; they do have some of them wrapped in like a 'decorative' rubber for when babyy is holding them his/her self to prevent dropping &; breaking but Medela, Tomme Tippie, Dr. Browns &; I can't think of the other one but they're also great for breast feeding &; storing milk. I'm also breast feeding nd going with Tomme Tippie because I loove how realistic the nipples are!
Avatar f tn I'm going to get the gerber bottles from walmart. My sister has them & they work fine so i thought I'd try them, but if I'm pumping what bottles would I store the milk in? Or should I just get storage bags?? & if i get storage bags do i just pour the milk in the bottle when im ready to feed? Ugh. So confused lol help!
Avatar f tn Breast milk can be stored in the freezer for 6 months. When you take it out put it in a bottle in a pot of hot water, don't put it in the microwave. & no it shouldn't be watered down.
Avatar f tn The * Avoid heating breast milk and infant formula over the stove or microwave in plastic; dangerous chemicals are more likely to leach when you heat in plastic. * To avoid bacteria, look for scratches in plastic bottles. * Avoid plastic bottles that have decorations printed on the inside. These can come off into formula when it’s been heated. * To avoid shards of glass ending up inside the bottle, glass bottles with cracks and chips should be discarded immediately.

Avatar f tn I'm trying to choose the best breast pump and milk storage system I can find. I travel extensively for work and I'll even be pumping in the car. I found the Kiinde system; which looks awesome. But, I'm not sure what I will be able to express from each breast at each pumping session. Ideally, I would like to pump directly into the storage bag, freeze it, thaw it, and feed directly from the bag. That is how the Kiinde system is intended to be used.
621803 tn?1302888341 I wouldn't put it in a water bottle if it were me. I would buy some cheap breast milk freezer bags to have them on hand for the next time. These either tie with a twist tie or they zip closed. You can get a huge amount for a few bucks at Target. Sounds like you are doing great with the breastfeeding!!!!!!
229857 tn?1319029907 you can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days just make sure you date the milk also it can go in the freezer i think for upto 6 months and it is good to use the breast milk storage bags so you can date them also and then you can take them straight from the freezer and put the bag in the baby bottle warmer. when you buy the breast pump there should be a little book about breast feeding and everything that comes with it.
572254 tn?1297189358 they say the burst too easily, so I am opting for the little cup looking storage containers that have screw on lids... I forget what brand they are, but BabiesRUs, Target and Wal-Mart all have customer reviews on their websites for almost every product, so you can at least know what brands you want even if you purchase in the store instead of online.
Avatar f tn I actually had little pacifier cases that I loved for traveling. They're like little mini Tupperware containers just for pacis so I didn't have to just throw it loose in the diaper bag. But they only hold one at a time so they're not good for mass storage of course, just thought I'd throw that out there for when you take baby somewhere or something.
Avatar f tn I am breast feeding. I need to know which bottles to buy for breast fed babies. And which storage is better the bag or bottle? I know there's a million out there I would like youre opinions because i don't know which to choose. I also like glass better then plastic.
