Breast milk glands

Common Questions and Answers about Breast milk glands

milk

7249185 tn?1399663162 Common misconception. Milk is purely supply and demand. That's why it doesn't come in until after baby is born because it is the birthing hormones that send the signal to begin milk production. Prior to birth, breast changes occur that are preparing the breasts/body to produce but not actually producing (breast growth/tenderness/darker areolas/erect nipples etc).
Avatar f tn Im 34 weeks & 3 days & my breast feel EXTREMELY weird, im not sure if it's my breast milk developing or if im making something out of nothing.....Help PLEASE!
Avatar f tn Have your doctor do a breast exam
Avatar f tn It's not milk supply. Your body doesn't store milk. It makes it on demand when baby is born. It is the glands waking up to prepare themselves to produce (not actually producing yet). If fabric on your nipples is an issue I recommend wearing Medela breast shells in your bra and also, the lansinoh soothies gel pads. They are amazing!
Avatar f tn Yes, you can breast feed. Those small breasts you have are actually the milk glands you need to feed your baby. They get much bigger when you become pregnant. What you don't have is the extra layer of fat over the milk glands that most women have. That fat is there primarily to attract the opposite sex. If that's what you're worried about, then do as specialmom suggests and start using a padded bra.
Avatar m tn There is very little HIV in breast milk, and the virus there often is inactive. Mammary glands are biologically very similar to salivary glands, and both are derived from sweat glands -- and there is no HIV in sweat and little or none in saliva.
Avatar n tn s breasts are made up of fat, connective tissue, and thousands of tiny glands (known as lobules) which produce milk. If a woman has a baby, the milk is delivered to the nipple through tiny tubes called ducts, which allow her to breastfeed. Breast cancer usually shows as a lump or thickening in the breast tissue, although most breast lumps are not cancerous. There are several different types of breast cancer, which can develop in different parts of the breast.
1985448 tn?1339821862 As far as it happening more when you get out of the shower its because the warm water relaxes your milk glands making it easier to flow. After giving birth if you choose to breastfeed and find it difficult or your glands get swollen, take a warm shower and let the water run on your cheat for a few minutes or warm up a towel in the.microwave for just a few seconds and put it on your breast and that'll help. So does massaging the nipples and breast.
Avatar f tn What does it mean when your veins start showing in your breast?
Avatar f tn How can a person mimic pregnancy ,without being pregnant. All blood work reads "within normal limits". For 6 months, no Dr can tell me why. I have breast milk ,gained 30 lbs, blurred vision in left eye, extreme headaches, every symptoms of pregnancy, numbness in left foot, difficult breathing at times, unable to function as a normal human should at 36 years old--unable to get out of bed by sitting straight up , I have to roll to one side.
Avatar n tn Mammary (milk) glands are developing and hormones cause them to swell.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies I had a breast reduction 1 year and got pregnant my baby was a surprise I'm due in 2 weeks I have no sign of milk coming in so I don't know if I can even breast-feed anyone have the same surgery and could feed their baby after having that type of surgery.
Avatar f tn Just Found 2 lumps or knots in my right breast both above the nipple it's tender to the touch...I'm very scared Cause my Mother is a Breast Cancer Survivor as of this year ...others tell me not to worry cause it's probably my milk ducts blocked ...I think I may go to the E.R...help!!!
Avatar n tn blood flow from lots of breast sucking stimulates their glands and can result in milk production; enlarged pituitary gland; medications. If your breasts are just responding to lots of stimulation, no problem. However, if it bothers you--or if you want to be sure your hormone levels are OK, see your gynecologist for a thorough check-up. Dr.
9842459 tn?1411688168 I plan on feeding my baby breast milk but from a bottle. I bought a pump. I plan on going back to work once she is born and I was wondering if its okay to do. While I am looking I plan on breast feeding normally though.
Avatar m tn Another reassuring factor is that the mammary (milk producing) glands are biologically similar to salivary glands and sweat glands -- and saliva and sweat are not infectious for HIV, or minimally so. Saliva and milk of HIV infected persons contain anti-HIV antibodies that neutralize the virus. In other words, your risk of HIV is sufficiently low that testing is optional.
1752977 tn?1418221796 I asked my OB about it and she said it was the milk glands growing and begining to produce milk/ colostrum, so its completely normal. I honestly don't know about vitamin water, all I do know is that your prenatals have all the vitamins you need and more vitamins can cause you to overdose which isn't good for you or the baby. I have another appointment tomorrow and will have to ask about it.
266539 tn?1281402152 During pregnancy these glands enlarge and they remain enlarged while breast-feeding. They can vary greatly in number, averaging between four and 28 per areola. Montgomery originally described these glands as ‘a constellation of miniature nipples scattered over a milky way’. It is believed that these sebaceous, or oil-producing glands, secrete a lubricating and protective substance, altering the skin's pH and discouraging bacterial growth. These glands also secrete a small amount of milk.
1222635 tn?1366396286 I think it will be fine for you to wait until the first of the month .... but I do think you should make an appointment for a clinical examination for some explanation of what is producing the symptoms you describe. To address your last statement; why would you "pop" the montgomeries glands ?? These glands are a normal feature of the breast and require nothing like what you describe. Take care and make that appointment.
Avatar f tn I'm breastfeeding my son and for about the past 24 hrs my left breast has not been producing much milk at all. I've noticed my breast has been smaller after long periods so I pumped to see and within a four hour period I will pump about 1 ounce. I don't just strictly have him on my breast. I pump as well. And store. My left breast has always produced less but now I feel as if I'm losing my milk supply. He's only 5 wks old and I do NOT want to stop breastfeeding.
Avatar f tn They hurt sometimes. i juss hope they dnt stay permanent there they look bad.
4981292 tn?1381256805 yea a size bigger i might even be two u just never know. I recomend to get the ones without the wire just bcz ure milk glands when ure engored their so full n the wire presses on them n it makes it uncomfortable...
Avatar f tn Try to milk yourself. Like pinch your nipple and kinda pull on it. If you have a breast pump try pumping a little. My guess is you will still be able to but I'd test it out to be sure.
Avatar f tn Another is that this can represent an infection of some glands in the areola or even the breast tissues themselves. Uncommonly, persistent breast discharge may be a sign of a condition called galactorrhea which may be related to some hormonal abnormality (pituitary problems). Lumps with discharge may also represent fibrocystic disease, or less commonly a malignancy. As there can be several causes I would recommend that this be evaluated by your doctor. Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn It could be breast milk that is starting to spoil that has built up in the glands! Or it could be blood ether way u should have ur doctor take a look!
Avatar f tn Its normal your breasts are getting ready for milk.. warm up wash cloths in the dryer and put them in your bra.. i have to do that every now and then.. warm showers and a good maternity bra with support helps too.

9489952 tn?1404326682 Size doesn't matter. The more baby nurses the more you will produce. You'll be fine. With my 2nd, my boobs didn't get much bigger until after he born and my milk came in. If you're on facebook look up breast is best.
Avatar n tn I am 35 weeks and haven't produced/ leaked any breast milk, I didn't produce any with my first till a couple days after he was born, just thought I would be producing something by now.
